When I started really looking at the upcoming New Moon in Capricorn, it dawned on me this will be THE New Moon for 2007 in terms of setting forth goals for the year. As it will also be squaring my natal Sun in Libra, these issues need to be moved to top of my to-do list. Anyone else out there with their Sun, Moon & ASC at about 28-29 degrees please heed this fabulous New Moon on January 18th.
When considering Capricorn one tends to forget it is Earth therefore feminine/yin in polarity. We tend to see Capricorns as hard-driving business types focused on material success and moving up the corporate ladder, and forget Capricorn is part of the Cancer/Capricorn axis that deals with renewal and the natural world. Cancer is easy to associate with Gaea in full bloom but Capricorn is when Nature rests and prepares herself for the bloom time.
Perhaps a good analogy would be planting tulip bulbs . . . . we plant them in the late Fall and during the Winter, the bulbs settle in underground and begin to grow roots. There is nothing visible above ground even though there is lots of activity below the surface. When Spring arrives, the tulips send up green leaves, followed by the flowering stalk which blooms in late Spring. Capricorn is our “underground” preparation time. It’s the time to do our homework, plan our next move and do it thoroughly . . . . just like Saturn always asks us to do!
Lisa Dale Miller outdid herself with her New Moon in Capricorn report. Here is just a snip that really resonated with me:
‘Our culture has a funny relationship with creativity and success. Many of us are told that we can’t make a living doing what we love. The truth is we can, if we are willing to make the sacrifices that are necessary to follow a path that is less chosen. Success in creative or spiritual endeavors is achieved by those who believe in themselves and work hard at what they love every day. Though our media makes it seem like there are many overnight success stories, when you look deeper into these lives, there is always a long-held dream and a lot of hard work. So let go of the need for instant gratification and overnight success. There is no free lunch and no easy way out. Capricorn is the sign that understands all too well that real success happens though sustained effort.’

OK, this photo is not of the New Moon . . . but it’s one of my favorites so far and it is of the Moon!

Please read this article of Lynn Hayes’s on Five Steps to Healing with Jupiter/Chiron. Here is the link: Five Steps to Healing with Jupiter/ChironHighly recommend reading the weekly column on Aquarium Age too. Lots of good stuff out there now!!
Thanks neith. As usual its refreshing to get positive input while the fear and ruckus mount. Hopefully, the new moon in Cap will clamp down on it.
Hopefully, the new moon in Cap will clamp down on it.If nothing else, it will remind us that getting our own ducks in a row is important. Once we get past this weekend’s Mars/Pluto/GC conjunction, we should see a drop in the most aggressive vibes. The Jupiter/Uranus square coming up after the new moon is generally an upbeat, off-the-wall kind of energy . . .
This reminds me that Biodynamics (an offshoot of Theosophy) contends that the earth is actually at its most active in the fall and winter. Underground, where we can’t see it, microbes, worms, and other creatures are busily breaking down the growth of spring and summer. And in those two seasons, the earth is actually at rest while everything else runs riot. It can be compared to a great respiration cycle.
)
I have a question: if there’s to be a new or full Moon in a given sign, how does it affect the Moon in my chart? As a Cap Moon, what does a New Moon in Cap have to do with me?
This is a great one Neith. And a beautiful photo too.I like the earth at rest renewing itself meditation for this time of year. I like it even better when snow and ice blanket the earth. Ice in Nordic myth refers to wisdom locked, held for the future.
Reading The Jupiter / Chiron healing article, Lynn also mentions use of Uranus/Jupiter. i realized that this has been true for me, the use of the Uranus Jupiter – i have been dancing, dancing, doesn’t matter to what Leonard Cohen or Devi (chants) and yoga with more passion and freedom of body than i can remember- at least since i was in my twenties. Many years ago, I suffered severe injuries, in particular a severed nerve plexus that has required a lot of discipline (oo that stubborn swede) to a first do simple things like walk and now after 24 years the repair is nearly complete. A Jupiter cycle how about that? Thinking about this a bit more, Uranus and nerves makes sense too.
As a Cap Moon, what does a New Moon in Cap have to do with me?As this particular New Moon falls quite close to your Cap Moon, this is a very important time for you. Lisa Dale Miller offers a wide range of excellent suggestions as to how to utilize the energy best, so please read her take. As a matter of fact, read all the articles you can find on the New Moon. BTW, it will be falling on your dad’s Sun . . .
Thanks, Neith. And weren’t we just discussing him the other day, and isn’t his solar return coming right up? Funny how these “coincidences” are coming fast and furious these days! I dunno whether to get goosebumps or just smile knowingly, ya know?
Thinking about this a bit more, Uranus and nerves makes sense too. Interestingly, Uranus is forming the third leg of a grand trine in your chart now – Venus & Uranus being the other two. However, i tend to think the Pluto/GC/Mars mix is contributing the most at this time. Pluto brings regeneration/rebirth after the one undergoes the destruction of the old . . . and it’s so fitting to be able to dance joyously again!! All the effects of the this moment will be spreading out like ripples in a pond for some time to come.I like the earth at rest renewing itself meditation for this time of year. I like it even better when snow and ice blanket the earth. Ice in Nordic myth refers to wisdom locked, held for the future. We’re locked in the cold & ice here! And from the sounds of it, this cold will make it down to your area before it’s done!I’m doing more research into the myths associated w/Capricorn that speak to natural world side of that sign. There is a pressing from within to do this . . . going back to finding the images that speak to us all. we’ll see ..
I dunno whether to get goosebumps or just smile knowingly, ya know?Hey, I go for smiling knowingly every chance I can get away with it!!
Yup, snowing here, wild and furious. Piling up fast. Guess i don’t have to fix my washing machine today.”Bird TV” has extra programs, big entertainment for Zamma, we are mobbed by a bazillion birds, feeders under the patio are very popular.
I am familiar with winter and fallow fields, body, mind, soul going to ground- underground- but never, ever! in my life have I thought of this time as… “breaking down the growth of spring and summer.”Bless you Joe. That is a rich thought to ‘break down’ and chew.Namaste, as always, to all. @;-) kj
Yup, snowing here, wild and furious. Piling up fast. When I heard it was snowing in Las Vegas, I figured at your elevation you’d get it there!!! So happy snow day!!! “Bird TV” has extra programs, big entertainment for Zamma, we are mobbed by a bazillion birds, feeders under the patio are very popular.ha, ha, ha!!! Does she make that little “bird hunting” noise? And sit there with just the very tip of the tail twitching?! Cats LOVE to hunt birdys . . . . lunch!
(((kj)))) So good of you to stop by & say Hi! Hope you’re doing well & getting some good writing time in during this quiet season! Yes, Joe always blesses us with something different to reflect on. It’s his gift . . .
{{{Neith}}} you are such a warm presence in this world.
Thanks for the welcome. Joe’s thought, that growth itself is broken down, was an eye-popper. I tend to think of growth as growing, one thing upon another, branching out in this direction or that, and not something that is ‘broken down’ or chewed, consumed, each year! turned to soil, a base for new growth. That is just such a perfect, dead-on thought for this time in my life, I had to break silence and comment. Thank you, thank you, Joe!And thank you, Neith, for asking. All is well. Much calmer, for one thing! Much healing and clean down to the bones and bare wood, truly a new beginning which my Aries sun sign appreciates. (Cancer moon quite content as well.)
The writing is flowing and I’m grateful to be back in my old life as a fiction/poetry writer, with this new perspective, and pretty much completely gone from the on-line political world. Although re: politics, we had a moment of great impact on November 7, 2006, a massive, collective shift in the national psyche. Huge. After that, I felt that whatever my work was re: polblogs, it was over and done and I was finally free to be go back to my art. I’m so grateful to everyone’s work to get us to the moment where we actually did take our country back. But I’m tired, I’m old, and really it’s not my life’s work. “kj” has retired. @;-)I love your photography, Neith, and check in weekly to see what new pictures you’ve taken. Hugs all ’round. ~~kj

It does my heart good to know another creative person is living their dream . . . I see that as a omen of great good for our futures. It’s still in my game plan too . . . once Uranus gets done rearranging my life! So glad you’re enjoying my photos! This is another good sign of things to come plus being able to take moments to focus on Beauty is healing.
I wish that I could claim credit for this thought, kj, but it comes from Biodynamics and the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. More information here.
Neith, browsed your photos this morning. Love the blanket edging, it is inspiring.Bath is looking very nice too, feeling close to completion?KJ was glad to see your post and hear your news. Continued wishes for your creative journey.
Neith,I’ve been following your house re-arrange and admire your courage to live in the chaos of creation. (Arg. Right now, I’m so needful of order, it’s pathetic.) The new camera is a godsend, eh? Grabbing those moments to find and capture the beauty that is all around us… I’m playing with “instant lines,” ie., grabbing the first random thought of the day and putting it down, knowing I can come back to it at any time during the day. A captured thread that I’ve promised to treat with gentleness. @;-)Yes, yes, yes re: living the creative life. Now! Scorp and I have pared down to the nub and all that was left was the basket of material from the last few years, what to do with it all? Then Joe’s comment (Thanks, Joe, Rudolf Steiner, I’ve heard the name.
_ and the phrase “breaking down the growth.” Talk about hitting dead center! The answer! No need to “build on it,” instead, turn it over to the ground and let winter (and the unconscious) break it down. No more work for me! Ha!So yes, the chaos of creation does eventually go underground and leave us free- for a bit- upside to putter and play and arrange our pretty colored strings.
Thank all the heavens! LOL
tseka, thank you, and continued wishes for your creative journey as well.

So, really, just popped in to say “hi” and thanks for the images and good thoughts for the future.
Really appreciated the haven and conversation here last summer and fall. It was a wellspring in the heat and sweat and chaos of the move… cool drinks of clean water when I really, really needed them. Thanks. ~~kj
I’ve been following your house re-arrange and admire your courage to live in the chaos of creation. (Arg. Right now, I’m so needful of order, it’s pathetic.)I ran around cleaning like crazy today as we’re done with the really messy part. Still have lots of wood trim to put up &, of course, the plumbing trim. But at least the plastic sheeting is down & the heavy paper to protect the floor. It’s is difficult to live with chaos . . . and we’re both on the orderly side so it’s had it’s moments!Just keep writing & dreaming . . . or is it the other way around.
“Just keep writing & dreaming . . . or is it the other way around.”
Same thing and back at ya, Spinner… @;-)
