I am past ready for Saturn to finish up his current tour through Virgo and move on into Libra. He reminds me far too much of my Libra mom who had lots of Virgo (and Pisces) in her chart . . . always nagging me unrelentingly about my diet, exercise and getting all my little seasonal chores completed!
That being said, I have made significant progress during the Saturn in Virgo years in fine tuning what it takes to stay healthy in a post menopausal body. Believe me when I say there is a LOT less latitude for fudging by eating too many sweets, high fat foods or not getting out for a good brisk walk on a regular basis. I quit smoking over nine years ago and though there are times when I would dearly love a cigarette, the temptation to smoke again is minor. I would love to indulge myself but since Saturn returned to Virgo in early April, it has been made abundantly clear that is not going to happen. At least not without seriously unpleasant and immediate consequences!
Right now both Venus AND Mars are in Virgo along with Saturn and it sure feels like it. Usually Mars in Virgo transits to my tenth house are about being way busy on the job but this time the parental authority side of the tenth is the stronger voice in my head. My inner parent is pushing hard to keep me on task with putting up fruits and vegetables from our large garden, hence fewer posts here on Libra Seeking Balance – less time at the computer and more time at the kitchen sink.
Saturn in Virgo has also brought home the importance of limiting the size and number of projects I can do in service to others . . . and not feel guilty about saying ‘no’ either. This goes hand in hand with taking care of my health and well being because over-committing myself is a surefire stressor. Not good at all.
We are eight days and counting from Saturn returning to Libra on July 21. Of course, that will bring a whole new set of issues with it which I will address from as many different angles as I can see!

Yay!
I hear ya’ on the fewer posts. Same here. I’m wrapping up my summer semester in about a month, so I want to end with a great blast and having Mars in Virgo is really, really helpful right now with details, schoolwork, the juggling of jobs and homelife, etc, I must admit.
Wouldn’t mind having Saturn back in Libra, though. This relationship between Saturn and Libra (the whole exaltation thing) reminds me of a relationship between a kind, loving grandfather and the grandchild he adores. It’s pretty. Maybe it’s just me but I feel that with Saturn on my side throughout my current journey, I’m going to be an important someone’s favorite. Still, I’ll be kicking major patootie– you can take the girl out of the Bronx, but you can’t take the Bronx out of the girl
.
Good to see you and your photos, even in a limited fashion
! Let’s not think of this period as limited but rather as one of QUALITY (instead of quantity). ‘Cause what you present here, regardless of when or how often, is quality for sure.
Hey Deb!
Mars & Venus in Virgo transiting your 9th house have got to be helpful for wrapping your summer semester. Great transits, in fact!!
Keep in mind Mars is going to be joining Saturn in Libra within a week too. No way around it . . . the last week in July & the first part of August are going to be energizing. heh, heh
I “write” my posts in my head first before sitting down to type. Aries on the 5th . . . write on the fly!
Good luck with your schoolwork and the high-wire act your life is right now. {{{{{Deb}}}}}

Love the clematis.
I have high hopes for Saturn in Libra – it’s a brand-new experience for me. (Sometimes reading about astrology I feel incredibly young. Like now.)
Also, congrats on quitting smoking. My father quit seven years ago and I can’t think of anything to be more proud of. You should be as well.
I have high hopes for Saturn in Libra
It is important to know Saturn is exalted in Libra. In other words, it is it’s “happy place”. Saturn works well with the energy of equitable, airy Libra. However, it is a good idea to keep in mind the best course is to treat others with fairness and respect. Or Saturn will remember he can be a harda** too!
Also, congrats on quitting smoking. My father quit seven years ago and I can’t think of anything to be more proud of.
Good on him! It helps cigarettes are very expensive here due to tons of “sin taxes” on them. Don’t know about your dad, but i know very well there is no such thing as ‘just one cigarette’ for me. If I light up I’ll be right back to my pack a day habit in the blink of an eye . . .
That bodes well – I try to be as fair as I can already! Soon enough he’ll oppose my Sun, but I’m hoping for more lessons than hardships.
My father quit smoking by the almanac, which I suppose means it was a little astrological – something I’d never thought about. That was how my parents decided when to wean me from a bottle and it apparently worked (or they believed it did) well enough that he took the suggestion for quitting smoking. He claims that he’s never wanted a cigarette since.
Proud.
I guess it’s my Moon-Uranus in Leo that leaves people alone so I keep my Virgo ideas on diet and exercise mostly to myself! My mom (Mercury in Virgo) nagged me to death, too, so I guess I learned what not to do. Anyway, I’m so looking forward to Saturn being out of my 2nd house (October) – but moving out of Virgo is a start.
Hi,
I wonder if you could expand on the quitting smoking theme. I know everyone says ‘the time is now’ but I wonder ‘how’? Been smoking for years – and flatmate a chain smoker so…. Any helpful advices gratefully received.
Thanx
Hello Sabina,
I went back and checked my transits & progressions around the time I quit and found my Mars had progressed into Cappy about the time I set my quitting date. Which was Jan 1 – also the date a huge increase in taxes on cigarettes went into effect.
I also used nicotine patches for the first day or so and they made me so loopy, I was able to slide through that critical period. Not living with another smoker was a big help too. Don’t know if I could have done otherwise. Good luck!
diane~
Hi Sabina and I hope Diane doesn’t mind if I chip in. I have finally been successful in the quit smoking campaign, after quitting for 6 months, then going backwards when Mars went retrograde. So Mars in fire signs is probably a no go unless you are 150% committed. Saturn in Virgo was a great time to tackle addictions so I envisage as Diane has mentioned here, maybe planning for Mars to enter an earth sign is a positive time to quit. As for lunar cycles, surprisingly, the Leo Moon worked exceptionally well for me as a good quit day. I have seen the Aries Moon mentioned as a positive, but found myself too twitchy. But once it was past the drama filled Cancer moon, I could find things to entertain myself until I hit the Capricorn Moon, then I was quite content to just be depressed anyway lol
I did use the patches but I always took them off at night. I found they really helped me to get through those few weeks as my husband STILL smokes, so it was made all that more difficult.
Hope this helps and good luck with your quit campaign xo
No worries, Karen.
Anything that can help another person quit smoking is always appreciated. It is a very, very tough go.
Yes, I took the patches off at night too because if I didn’t, sleep would have been impossible. yeeeeh
