When I was out picking raspberries early this morning, I started thinking about Mars shifting into Libra, joining Saturn and soon opposing Uranus and Jupiter in Aries. It dawned on me why Mars in Libra seems like familiar territory for me. With both my Sun and Moon in Libra, Scorpio rising and Mars in Scorpio I live with the combined energy of Mars and Libra every single day.
My Libra-Scorpio-Mars energy is also why I attract/am attracted to those who have Mars in Libra natally, creating a parallel between the charts. Parallels are all about similar energy in one chart being drawn to the same in another and are amazingly common between friends, family and lovers. In my immediate family both my father and brother have Mars in Libra!
When I say “similar”, as in not precisely the same, I mean exactly that too. The desire for harmony and equity comes from my Libra Sun and as such is deeply encoded in the core of my being, while the manner in which I take action is channeled through the pragmatic, intensity of Scorpio who is inclined to play things very close to the chest.
All the women in my family have/had Mars in either water or earth and we could get oodles of work done far more efficiently than either my dad or brother, particularly if it was tasks like preparing food, cleaning house, doing yard and field work, etc. On one hand both my father and brother excel when it comes to facts and figures and both graduated top of their class in school but on the other, they both can take something very simple and complicate it beyond belief. Drove us women batty!
In the natal chart it is also important to take into account aspects from other planets to Mars in Libra. Mercury ups the mental component; Jupiter adds the urge to continually test one’s “luck” and Saturn can prove stabilizing. Uranus aspecting Mars in Libra really boosts the need to experiment and seek excitement. Neptune aspects can encourage procrastination. Pluto? Well, Pluto can make one obsess about making exactly the right choice to the point of being unable to choose at all!
The strong mental component with Mars in Libra does not always translate well into to physical action though it can give dexterity and good balance. Since Libra needs to know any action taken is based on fairness and equity, making quick decisions before acting is difficult to come by due to all the weighing and balancing going on.
A note on Mars in Libra transits: Mars opposed Uranus in Aries early July 30 and will conjoin Saturn on July 31 and that’s it for those two planets until Mars returns to Libra in early 2012. Mars will oppose Jupiter in Aries and square Pluto in Capricorn August 3-4. In other words, we are very, very close to being done with the most intense Mars transits! And that sounds pretty darn good to me . . .
Karen of Ravenesque Tarot has a great post on Mars entering Libra. Among other things, she notes the Tarot card symbolizing Mars is ‘The Tower’. Good read!
Image: This hummingbird is poised and ready to move in any direction . . . a good place to be right now with the cardinal dynamo in the sky.

Ever since Mars crossed my MC in Virgo and hit the last quadrant of my chart (where most of my planets are), I have been exceedingly busy. I have lots of energy but need every bit of it. Possible break when Mars enters Scorpio and passes through my 12th . . . one hopes!!

I adore the hummingbird; I have a pair of ruby-throated darlings enjoying my feeders.
Today I had the revelation of the importance of planets changing signs due to nearly everything in my chart being in the first ten degrees. I’m going to keep an eye on Mars as he makes his trip.
Love hummers too. They are very aggressive for something that small!
Heh, most of my planets are mid-late degrees. I catch it just before the planets change signs. Venus is next and will enter Libra on Aug 6 . . . first hitting my 29 Libra sun.

Thanks for the mention Diane xo Amazing how much of this energy you have in your life, my chart included
I have also crossed paths with a stack of Mars in Libra people over the years and I have always scratched my head over the negative write ups about it. But then I see someone speak about an episode with a Mars in Libra person and I think ‘ewwww’ – so perhaps it is a matter of perspective, or we’ve just met nice peeps lol as some of these stories are pretty horrid! Very passive aggressive!
I love this image!!!!!! I am assuming you captured it? Well done
I even showed hubby and he loves it too, especially as you don’t have his camera gear (think he is jealous lol)
Hi Karen!
For the most part, I get along fine with Mars in Libra folk. In fact, I find they are energizing (something I’ve noted over the years, is when Mars in synastry hits the Sun, Moon & ASC in particular, those are the people who get our engines revving).
I got a couple of super shots of this hummer – right place, right time. The feeder was mounted on a window and the light was just perfect for taking a photo through the glass. Tried several other times but no joy. So it was purely serendipitous!
I forgot for a moment and had to think whether I have Mars in Libra also, and yes I do, among other planets.
LOL!! You are due for BOTH a Venus and Mars Return here in the next couple of months. Just finished reading Richard Nollle’s August Forecast and he sounds pretty upbeat about it, especially for him. (AstroPro)

Well, I’m LOVING Mars in Libra! (I’m Libra Sun and Moon, Scorp rising and…Mars in Libra – at zero degrees, no less.)

The day Mars moved into Libra I dreamt a horrifying dream of being chased by a serial killer. Woke up with him almost catching me. Thought – “Oh, NO! I’m NOT finishing the dream like that!” – and fell right back into it. (A first for me!) Climbed a tree with the killer still chasing me, and when he climbed up after me, I smashed his face with my foot, knocking him off the tree. He landed on his back on rocks, dying instantly with a shattered skull.
I didn’t come out of the tree until a police officer (Saturn??)showed up, checked the guy, looked up and said, “He’s dead. You can come down now.”
The very cool part of this? My stomach/digestive system had been “running” for the past 9 days. Since the dream, it’s returned to normal.
Yep, I’m liking this a lot!

Welcome Kim!

sounds familiar . . .
Now that I’m getting used to this wild & crazy T-square, I’ve decided it isn’t so bad. Good to know it is agreeing with you!

Did you take that photograph? it is amazing
Oh I should get ready for my Mars return – the last one seems both ages ago and yesterday…
Oh it’s a tricky sign position for Mars – I love exercise and the way it makes me feel, but at the same time I take a lot to get started, I’m too lazy. I probably feel more Libra than Aries despite having so much Aries, or maybe I feel like both at the same time – see what I mean, very Libra. LOL
On a more serious tone, what worries me most about Mars in Libra is the passive aggressiveness. It’s something that I have difficulty avoiding and feel quite ashamed about it, to me it’s immature.

We are taught recognizing behavior patterns is key to working to improve them . . . what most don’t say is how HARD that really is!
Keep on practicing!!
