The chart of the New Moon in Leo at 17° 25” Leo on August 9, 2010 is clearly dominated by that pesky cardinal T-square and even though they are not aspecting each other by degree, the theme is about taking action and making changes whether we are ready or not.
The Sabian symbol for this New Moon in 18 Leo, “A chemist conducts an experiment for his students” encourages everyone to take advantage of opportunities to try something new, something most of us with plenty of fixed signs in our charts view with a great deal of caution. Leo does tell us to let go and be spontaneously creative once in awhile. Hey, it can be FUN!!
The cardinal T-square is not so much fun – intense, high energy, dynamic – but not fun. At this time, Venus in Libra is the planet forming exact aspects to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in turn (Mars just finished making the rounds on August 3). There is a good chance Venus will be less likely to confront than Mars was but she is no less powerful. Be prepared for full on charm campaigns instead, especially from those who identify with their feminine side.
The need for honesty, equity and integrity in all our relationships has never been highlighted more. Pluto is policing our exchanges and is willing to come down hard on those who continue to behave in a less than honorable manner. Venus, Mars and Saturn in Libra are promoting tact and diplomacy for all they are worth, so if we do have something to say, please remember to steer clear of finger pointing and to frame your words as kindly as possible. It is difficult to have a “meaningful dialogue” when yelling at the top of your lungs . . .
Mercury is in Virgo, semi-sextile the New Moon in Leo. Leo and Virgo are not the best of neighbors since Leo tends to regard Virgo as a bit of a wet blanket, always insisting on watching the bottom-line when Leo is planning the party of the year. Considering how much stress many are feeling, the key to communicating effectively is to be an active listener – rather than ignoring the other person while planning your next scathing comeback in your head.
Then there is Neptune in Aquarius, sitting out there loosely conjoined Chiron in Aquarius, singing his favorite songs promoting peace and good will to all in sharp contrast to the vital, stinging energy of the cardinal T-square. Sure wouldn’t hurt to haul out your personal peace and love tunes to soothe the ragged edges of the soul.
On a personal note, I have been spending long hours sorting out computer problems as the result of a power outage caused by an electrical storm. Right now everything seems to be working but I’m not going to hold my breath and say all is back to normal just yet. So if my posts and comments are rather sparse it is because my computer is running yet another disk check. Other than that, I am feeling energized – a good thing because we are in non-stop harvest mode around here with beans to can, cucumbers to pickle, berries to pick and of course the endless mowing of grass.
Here is a link to what the inimitable Michael Lutin has to say about Venus moving into Libra and triggering the Cardinal T-square: Venus hits the T-Square

Well this New Moon falls directly on my Ascendant and Moon (17/18 Leo)! I’m hoping that means fun.
I was going to say that the cardinal T-square doesn’t affect me, but it does because Uranus and Jupiter form the apex of a yod to my Mercury and Jupiter (0 Virgo/Scorpio) and Venus/Pluto and Neptune (2 Virgo/Scorpio) whenever they go through those degrees. Plus my bf’s pSun just entered Cancer and his Merc is at 1 Aries, and he had a bit of a crisis last weekend, though that seems to have resolved in his favor at least for now. It was an interesting internal challenge for me in the process and I learned something about myself, and we’re good.
Sorry about your computer troubles (so not fun), but glad to hear you’re feeling energized!
Hey leslee,
I was going to say that the cardinal T-square doesn’t affect me, but it does because Uranus and Jupiter form the apex of a yod to my Mercury and Jupiter (0 Virgo/Scorpio) and Venus/Pluto and Neptune (2 Virgo/Scorpio) whenever they go through those degrees.
I am gaining more respect for both semi-sextiles and quincunxs. Often the signs involved have little in common creating lots of frustration.
The New Moon is sextile my Moon and I too am hoping for a bit of fun for a change. Doing software maintenance is so time consuming. My computer is obviously back up and running but is still fragile . . . not a big fan of Vista.
diane~
Everybody tweaking my Mars and Neptune. It kind of makes me want to pout.
I’m kind of hoping for a quiet New Moon so I can concentrate on obsessing about my life during Mercury retrograde.

Sometimes when Neptune is present we get a “time delay” affect . . .
I envy @leslee – the cardinal cross falls directly on my Ascendant, rather than the new moon.
Still and all, good humor and luck to all! I don’t have anything at 17+ fixed, but I am going to try my hardest to have some fun, too.
Hey Jessica!
Still and all, good humor and luck to all! I don’t have anything at 17+ fixed, but I am going to try my hardest to have some fun, too.
Humor is sooooo important! I linked Michael Lutin’s quips on Venus hitting the T-square for that very reason. The man always makes me laugh!

That video made me DIE laughing! That man kills me. I love that he started doing videos. Do you think he got the idea from Elsa?!
Happy new moon, Lady Diane!
Em, of course the new moon would see me with an extra dog on our hands for three weeks
. We’re dog-sitting for a friend of ours who is traveling to Israel. Should be a really funny period for us.
And the best part? Done, done, done with my summer semester. With flying colors. So no more pencils, books, etc, until the end of August. What a relief. Yaaaaay.
Wishing you the best as always,
Deb
conjunct Saturn, that wet blanket!
I need to go berry picking…
