Welcome to Virgo Season

We are now entering my favorite time of year when the Sun travels through Virgo and Libra. Here in the northern latitudes the days are growing visibility shorter with longer, cooler nights . . . much more agreeable in my opinion.

For those of us with Libra Suns and Libra rising in our charts, Virgo is the twelfth house sign and signifies a time for introspection and reflection on the past year not to mention a chance to rest and catch one’s breath. Now that the cardinal T-square is easing apart, the Saturn-Uranus opposition is history and the final Saturn-Pluto square was last Saturday, maybe we can relax some. I know I need to!

This is a perfect time to revamp the personal daily schedule. Most of us need more quality sleep than we have been getting over the past few months and restful sleep is critical to overall health. Virgo loves a good discussion about sensible diet and exercise programs too. We all know the drill by now . . . more fruits and veggies, fish, whole grains, nuts, etc. And don’t forget to get out and walk for at least 30 minutes or more as often as possible.

Most of us know Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, is currently retrograde. Virgo is the sign on my Midheaven and my husband’s sixth house AND where Mercury will be spending the most time. Interestingly enough, the day it stationed retrograde my Aries spouse came home and said he had the most productive day he has had in months with people showing up in a timely manner, phone calls being returned and materials coming in on time. (I consider him my “control” because we do not discuss astrology ever. He’s so not interested!) My experience last week was equally favorable because I was finally figured out why I had been unable to get my old laptop connected to the internet. I had to download and install 81 Windows updates as well as update the antivirus/malware software – all of which went well. It was during the height of the cardinal cross/T-square when we both had the most difficulties in these areas.

This is our peak harvest period here in the Pacific Northwest with the widest variety of fruits and vegetables ripe. I have peaches ripening on my front porch, blueberries and blackberries ready to pick, sweet corn, tomatoes, summer squash, green beans, green peppers, cucumbers all available and our garlic is ready to use. This year I am going to try my hand at making blackberry syrup from our bumper crop of blackberries . . . so good on pancakes and ice cream! :D

Anyone else ready for some quieter days and more restful nights?

  • Virgo and I are getting in touch these days. I’m re-working my Virgo issues a tad so it’s good for me- it’s all over my family, but I didn’t get any natally.

The day Mercury stationed was ridiculously productive for me, too… but I look forward to Merc Rx. For once everyone else understands me better, it seems.

Oh, if you can deal with another drive over the pass, you just have to look at this!

      Hi Shannon!

The day Mercury stationed was ridiculously productive for me, too… but I look forward to Merc Rx. For once everyone else understands me better, it seems.

Good to know someone else is having a positive experience. Do you have Mercury Rx natally? Others that do have told me they too have more clarity during Mercury retrograde periods.

The WSAA has some very good speakers, don’t they? Love Dana Gerhardt. I took part in her Venus survey a couple of years ago and it was lots of fun. She is also an excellent writer who has started blogging occasionally – Dana’s Moonblog

      • I do have Mercury rx by birth… most things around this period work backward for me. I actually get more done, people understand what I’m saying the first time, etc. I call it “having a Mercury retrograde vaccine”. I try to do more training and public work around this time, which also works out nicely because everyone else is dialing things back.

WSAA is going to be recording all the lectures and making the mp3s available, which is kind of exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing Patricia Walsh again- when she spoke at NORWAC people were just packed into her talks. It’s going to be a really neat season this year.

I am totally in agreement about cooler days and nights. Summer weather here has been brutal and I imagine winter will be a doozy if the signs in the natural world are any indication. We got some peaches from Colorado and they are so juicy and sweet! It’s hard to eat them fast enough before they rot so I may have to make peach salsa and preserve them for later in the year. There’s never enough time for this kind of thing and I always feel like a flop that I can’t manage all that I want to do. it’s like Christmas: you have to rein in your expectations about all the decorations, crafts and whatnot that you can’t possibly cram into each day, esp if you have to work 2 jobs like I do.

      Hey Joe!

I winced every time I saw the temps this summer back in your area, so I just bet you are happy to see Fall around the corner.

This is a familiar scenario and I keep promising myself to prioritize and if there isn’t enough time . . . there isn’t enough time. :P I have been very clear with family the past few years about staying within a strict budget at Christmas. Making do is the name of the game for now.

  • Woohoo, I’m not banned anymore! That was my Mercury Rx moment of the day. Weirdness.

Love, love, LOVE this time of year, too. Actually, I love it from here all the way through the end of December. :) But Virgo/Libra time is definitely my favorite part as it rings in Autumn!

Regarding walking: If I speed-walk anymore, I’m going to take off right into space. Work has picked up earlier than usual and suddenly I’m in great demand in town, if you can believe that :) ! Plus, this full moon has me feeling like I’m floating– in other words, HIGH. So very naturally high.

Feeling exhilarated, challenged, happy… I’m taking all the work on and accomplishing much.

    Wishing you awesomeness,
    Deb

      Hey Deb!
Actually, I love it from here all the way through the end of December. :)

I enjoy Scorpio & Sagittarius too, right up to Christmas but once the holiday season is done, Capricorn & Aquarius are a long slog until hints of spring start appearing. Good time to get indoor work done though . . .

Feeling exhilarated, challenged, happy… I’m taking all the work on and accomplishing much.

Yay, Deb!! :D May your bright, cheerful zippiness rub off on everyone you come in contact with!!

  • As a teacher (and basically a perpetual student), I find this time of year more hectic than most (the exceptions to that are end-of-semesters in December and May). I’m wondering if some of my productivity this time of year can be attributed to the Sun’s opposition to my 17 Pisces chart ruler Mercury and my Aries Sun.

I am with you on the weather though. Summer is my least-favorite season for weather. I like the cooler days of fall (though I actually hate fall as well; I’m very opinionated). This year, I’m going to try to use Virgo’s energy to my advantage and put myself on a writing schedule. We’ll see what happens.

  • Diane L

    Hi Nic!

I’m wondering if some of my productivity this time of year can be attributed to the Sun’s opposition to my 17 Pisces chart ruler Mercury and my Aries Sun.

Between Mercury’s extended stay in Virgo and Venus/Mars/Saturn in Libra really activating that part of your chart [and opposing nMercury, nSun & nVenus] this year, you will have an opportunity to check this out. There has to be some fun in there for you too. :P

Good luck with getting yourself on a writing schedule too.

  • Well, Virgo season is sneezing season for us :P as the wattle starts coming out in bloom, signalling a new spring. My rose babies have new sprigs, which always excites me, but it’s still pretty cold here – with this horrid, southerly wind keeping the chill in the air. Plus, it is nearly Master Virgo’s birthday, which means I am getting older lol but we still are in sync in a way – even being down south and all. As despite our short spurt of spring activity, we tend to sloth for January/ February because it is too hot! Well ‘I’ do anyway, finding autumn/winter/spring my most productive months!

      Hi Karen!

My brain tends to go into neutral when it gets too hot. Enjoy your cooler weather while you can. :D

but we still are in sync in a way – even being down south and all.

True . . . it’s all about seasons. The mutable signs are usually when we see hints of the shift to the next season. Cardinal signs yell “it’s here!” And the fixed signs are when we start to mutter about being ready for a change. :P

  • I am so an Autumn/Winter person that this is my time of year too. Maybe partly due to being a redhead who does’t tan so I don’t go out in the sun as much as others may do. Also I love wearing hats and scarves so my collection is ready to be dusted down and brought out for another season.

Here in Old Blighty the rain this August has been heavier than usual. The front that is causing all the drought and fires in Russia has another side to it here in Western Europe which is wet, wet, wet!

I can feel Autumn (Fall to you guys) in the air and the leaves are already turning on our Limes and Sycamore trees. There seems to be an abundance of fruits, berries and nuts so I think nature is stocking up for the animals to help them through what has been forecast as another very cold winter.

    • Diane L

      Hey Rossa!
Also I love wearing hats and scarves so my collection is ready to be dusted down and brought out for another season.

Me too. I knit a couple of scarves in a faux shaker stitch this summer and am looking forward to being able to wear them. Plus as my husband says it’s easier to put more clothes to deal with cold than the alternative.

We’re seeing some earlier turning of leaves here, mostly willow. Each Autumn is different and always a treat to see slowly emerging.

Just wish my tomatoes would get their butts in gear and RIPEN! Lots of green ones but not one red one yet.

      xo diane~

      • It has been a weird season for tomatoes. Every place we passed through on the way back here (down south, Indiana, Dakotas, etc) people were commenting on it.

        • Yeah, I’ve got a greenhouse full of green tomatoes.

Was given a tip by a local man that if you hang ripe tomatoes on the vines as near to the green ones as possible, close up the greenhouse, then a ripening gas comes off the red ones and encourages the others. Only put some ripe ones in there yesterday so will see if it works. Ripe bananas do the same thing apparently.

Worth a try otherwise I need a good recipe for green tomato chutney :-)

  • I think my Leo Moon/Ascendant loves the sun and the summer weather, so the end of summer is always a little sad. I do love harvest season, though! Makes my Virgo Sun happy. Otherwise, the ragweed usually makes fall miserable. We did just have a few days of needed rain, and it was nice for sleeping and staying in, a break from the sun. The heat and humidity have lessened quite a bit over the last few weeks, too. Anyway, enjoy your harvest!

    • Diane L

      Hi leslee!

I think my Leo Moon/Ascendant loves the sun and the summer weather, so the end of summer is always a little sad.

That makes sense! After mulling this over, I realized one of the reasons summer is not one of my favorite seasons has to do with mine being so labor intensive . . . an anachronism harking back to the days when most people lived in rural areas and depended on their gardens for food. Those times when I lived in urban areas with the usual life style, summer was much more fun. :P

aww I miss the Pacific NW so much it must be absolutely beautiful now. I remember moving away Oct 8th in ’06 and the Cascades were like “on fire” with bright red and orange fall colors everywhere :d The sight of it was so stunning it’s still very vivid to me. Now I live in Texas where summer is sooo hot and depressing from the heat. It really picks up after Mother’s Day, and by Cancer at it’s solstice, I feel like I have cancer ugh why did I leave the Garden of Eden of Seattle lol, Houston is much like hell in June and July.

Well life is very much like seasons too, and we all have our ups and downs. That’s why I’m so thankful that everything has an end and a new adventure waiting on the horizon soon after. This time of year is really special for me when the heat of summer looses it’s grip as heaven is restored in Virgo for each one of us awwww Virgo is soo sweet to us Librans xD

I sorta see Lady Virgo as the mother of Libra and Pisces as the father of Aries haha both bring balance back into the world :d

    • Diane L

      Welcome Zac!

After the sweet coolness of the Pacific Northwest, the Gulf Coast heat & humidity must be tough to handle all right. One of those things one has to grow up with to tolerate well . . . :P

Haha I got soo excited about the arrival of fall I made this picture as a celebration hope you like :d

It’s inspired from Snoqualmie Pass in Washington state I named it Virgo Pass lol

  • Diane L

I like it! Love the brilliant reds & oranges the vine maples turn on Snoqualamie in Autumn. I’m a better passenger than driver then because of the need to take it all in.

aww thanks Diane that sounds so sweet xD I’m sure you really enjoy all the beautiful Autumn color in the mountains. I used to drive every weekend through Fall City and Monroe from North Bend to Everett for work. It was fun watching the seasons unfold each time. Stevens Pass was also breathtaking to see and was the route taken when I moved to Texas.

Houston has a really pretty Autumn too on the north side. With the waterways of Lake Houston and Atascocita, it sorta reminds me of Lake Washington haha :) I recently seen the movie Charlie St. Cloud and remembered how pretty Vancouver is too. Someday I hope to come back. The weather is different here yet interesting too. Last year it snowed lol

Thanks for welcoming me Diane I love your site. It’s helped me understand things better :)

Hope everyone enjoys Labor Day yay xD
