This is the second Full Moon in Aries (the first was September 23, 2010 at 0°15″ Aries) and at 29°26″ Aries on October 22, 2010 6:37 PM PDT, it contains both the sense of having completed one cycle and the seeds for a new one.
When the lunar cycles from New Moon to Full Moon follow a natural progression, i.e. New Moon in Libra followed by Full Moon in Aries rather than in Taurus as it was last year, we feel a sense of ease. Do you remember walking arm in arm with someone and skipping a step to ensure you are both leading with the same foot and how much more comfortable that was? What happened in the sky was quite similar. We go back and forth between walking out of step to walking smoothly in step. This happens on an average of three years apart.
A rather unusual aspect pattern connecting the Luminaries, Mars in Scorpio and Uranus-Jupiter in Pisces creates enough friction we will not be able to ignore the need to make adjustments to our personal programs. The pattern is a rather squashed Cradle with semi-sextiles on the sides, a trine on top and an opposition (the lunar axis) on the bottom with inconjuncts running between the four corners.
Mars in Scorpio is trine Jupiter-Uranus in Pisces, a very good aspect for setting creative projects into motion with the intuitive ease of communication between water signs. The Moon in fiery Aries enjoys a lively dialogue with the airy Libra Sun. The difficulties arise when connecting the two harmonious elements to each other.
Both Aries and Libra can inadvertently tromp all over sensitive water sign toes via the semi-sextiles on the sides of this pattern AND the inconjuncts connecting the corners. Both Scorpio and Pisces prefer to work quietly behind the scenes and then present their finished product. Between the Aries indifference to privacy and Libra’s need to discuss every detail with their partner, they don’t often realize the importance of keeping other people’s secrets. Rather than having to apologize later, a better course of action might be slowing down and paying close attention to the needs of others. Time to brush up on our active listening skills! Remember a pissed off water sign person is capable of delaying their revenge until the moment when it will hurt the most . . .
Mars in Scorpio also forms a debilitating square with Neptune conjunct Chiron in Aquarius. This can exacerbate sensitivities and cause us to see slights where none were intended. If you have planets and Angles between 25-27 degrees in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) this square may leave you feeling temporarily out of sorts and lethargic.
Mercury in now in Scorpio, closely sextile to Scorpio’s ruler Pluto in Capricorn, is ideal for serious, investigative work. Scorpio’s ability to suss out other people’s secrets is greatly enhanced at this time. If you have been keeping something from your sweetheart, ‘fessing up is a better option along with plenty of suitable groveling. With Venus retrograde in Scorpio and semi-sextile conventional Saturn in Libra, the unadorned truth will be better received than pretty lies. Of course, you could still end up out in the cold because this is not a particularly forgiving Venus.
The fire element is represented solely by the Moon in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn is the only earth right now. Water and air are the dominant elements and that combination can generate one heck of a fog. It is as if all the enthusiasm we felt in June, July and August has slowly seeped away. I got my SAD light out early this year and this may be a contributing factor. Fire makes some gains when Mars enters Sagittarius and more when the Sun joins him but we will have to wait for a deeper shift until after the first of the year when both Jupiter and Uranus will return to Aries.
For me, this is an eventful lunation: The Sun conjoins my Sun, Mars in Scorpio conjoins my Ascendant, Neptune is back squaring my Ascendant for its final pass and Venus is within a degree of conjoining my Part of Fortune. A turning point of some kind in my fortunes that only I will know about until Venus goes direct and makes it into my first house after the start of the new year. I am looking forward to Mars crossing my first house, following my Mars return late Wednesday.
Compared to the first Full Moon in Aries with its T-Square to Pluto in Capricorn, this one is much lower key and better for taking stock of what is going on in your life. The Sun enters Scorpio the next day and life will take on a very different tone and it behooves us to be prepared.
