Two Full Moons in Scorpio . . . Yikes!

I was reading my latest issue of The Mountain Astrologer and was surprised to see we have two Full Moons in Scorpio this year. The first is April 20th and is at 1° Scorpio and the second one is May 19/20 at 29° Scorpio. Anytime I see Scorpio I pay attention because Scorpio falls on the cusp of both my 12th house and Ascendant.

It would seem to be an opportunity to take a good review of the areas in our lives where the Taurus/Scorpio axis falls. In my case it’s primarily the 6th house/12th house axis with some carry over to the 1st and 7th houses. With Taurus on the cusp of the 6th, issues of health, daily work-related routines, dealing with co-workers are all important. If I look at those issues from a Taurus perspective things like taking time to smell the flowers and enjoy some downtime to reduce stress are highlighted. Take a bouquet of flowers to work to share with everyone. Most of us need to remember to slow down and walk through the park instead of driving everywhere! The New Moon in Taurus on May 5th will be the peak of this wonderful, life affirming energy.

Now Scorpio is about take a long and serious look at what is no longer working for us and doing some housecleaning to make way for new ideas and concepts. Keep in mind Pluto is continuing to add his two cents worth during this time period because the first Full Moon in Scorpio will be sextile to Pluto. Stephanie Austin has a great one liner for a bumper sticker for Pluto: “You can let go now, or have it ripped out of your hands later.” Words to live by during this particular Scorpio dominated lunar pattern. With my 12th house as the focus of these Full Moons, I need to take care to remember those who serve others must always serve themselves first . . . running on empty helps no one.

Another result of the this unusual incidence is the return a normal New Moon/Full Moon pattern of the sign of the New Moon opposing the sign of the Full Moon. It was in June and July of 2005 when we had two Full Moons in Capricorn in a row this pattern last shifted to one where the New Moon’s sign is inconjunct the following Full Moon. We will be returning to a pattern where the energy will flow more smoothly and naturally from New Moon to Full Moon, from Earth to Water instead of Fire to Water (New Moon in Aries to Full Moon in Scorpio).

This is the time to start giving thought to where your life needs pruning and weeding done because we have a great opportunity to do this from mid-April to mid-May. It’s always easier to work with the prevailing winds and the currents than tack against them . . . :-)

It’s always easier to work with the prevailing winds and the currents than tack against them oh shut up! :-P(were you eavesdropping in my life just a moment ago?!!)xoxoxoxo

btw, it so happens i have a “significant event” scheduled on both those Full Moons — i hadn’t realized

  • jane

and today? another blowi think i’ve reached a point… not sure how to label it… some place beyond pain… beyond numbness even… dissociation… yah, that’s it…

lol @ Jane2 full moons in Scorpio. Yay…Sometimes my mind goes blank at these events. I want to know what they mean to me but nothing comes up. lolGiving that Taurus and Scorpio are in my 2nd and 8th house cusps, I should probably pay attention to money. Bah, boring. That thing you said about the alignment of the moon phases totally confused me but it makes sense. I never thought of that, that’s all.

I need to take care to remember those who serve others must always serve themselves first . . . running on empty helps no one. After all this time I’m finally beginning to see this. But what a great phrasing of an unavoidable truth! Great blog-entry, too, for as you know I have the same 6/12 Scorpio/Taurus thing going on, only with the signs reversed.

Much needed. Seems like all the angry, Arian energy makes this a positive time to “get things done” in general. I hope.Oh man, kids in my school are going to have some extreme realizations on National Pot Smoking Day :). 4/20 is also my dog’s birthday. She will probably nap in the sunhttp://picasaweb.google.com/lachauvesouris/CameraPhonePicturesJuniorYear/photo#5134384514723507826http://picasaweb.google.com/lachauvesouris/CameraPhonePicturesJuniorYear/photo#5134384497543638578

Good point about the moon realigning with its natural mate across the wheel. I look forward to the end of these out of sign oppositions – wonder if we will all feel the change as more emotional balance. I am remembering the incredible moon energy brought with the standstill moons then the sudden bump with that Capricorn blue moon.Nice work Neith!

:::::primal scream::::::Pluto stationing opposite my Mars. Can’t wait for the Full Moon to fall between my Sun/Uranus conjunction. Good to have the heads up now, may be some kind of a relief. I haven’t had to wait around to see how these influences will show up in my life….I’m being put through the wringer in the hugest way. Everything [feeling as if it] is reaching the breaking point. Home, relationships, career, self. Not surprising with ALL of this stuff lately hitting right on my angles and planets. At least Mars direct is making it feel like forward motion is here, no matter how painful.

i think i’ve reached a point… not sure how to label it… some place beyond pain… beyond numbness even… dissociation… yah, that’s it…{{{{Jane}}}} Yes, I know that place . . . that’s where us Plutonians often end up before we resign ourselves to making some changes, usually long overdue! Good thing we are usually very, very tough. :-D

  • neith

That thing you said about the alignment of the moon phases totally confused me but it makes sense. I never thought of that, that’s all.Don’t feel alone . . . I swear I have learned more in the last couple of years about astrology wandering around the astro-blogosphere then any time previously. We help each other learn stuff with every exchange! :-D

After all this time I’m finally beginning to see this. But what a great phrasing of an unavoidable truth! Great blog-entry, too, for as you know I have the same 6/12 Scorpio/Taurus thing going on, only with the signs reversed. When we are young and invincible with energy up the butt, we seldom stop to consider this sort of thing. Yes, I consider this a key lesson for you with Scorpio on the 6th. With your Mars in Libra (Scorpio’s ruler) balance between activity and repose is critical. **this goes for all the other Mars in Libra (Jane . . .)***

4/20 is also my dog’s birthday. She will probably nap in the sunLOL!! I love it!!! We all need to nap in the sun occasionally . . . lovely image for Taurus! :-)

I am remembering the incredible moon energy brought with the standstill moons then the sudden bump with that Capricorn blue moon.Hey tseka!! Good to see you!! I too am hoping for a subtle (or not so subtle) return to emotional balance brought about by this shift in the lunar cycles. Right now I’m one of those people running around like crazy, all sorts of new projects in the works!***expect an announcement soon regarding new projects and ventures*** :-D

Pluto stationing opposite my Mars. Can’t wait for the Full Moon to fall between my Sun/Uranus conjunction. Good to have the heads up now, may be some kind of a relief.I suspect it will. The current frenetic pace hopefully with start to moderate with the shift to Taurus/Scorpio away from the “primal” Aries stuff we have now. It feels to me like all the things put on hold over the Mars Rx are demanding immediate attention! So hang in there . . . :-D

Full moons in Scorpio? sounds right to me. (and you know why)I’ve been stuffing my little eyeballs with blogs. Work has become so meaningless. Endless hours of monotonous agony to be endured. Anyway, ran across THIS blog with THESE pics of a place which is just up the road a bit (50 miles):http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/Antique Rose Emporium. Notice the you-know-whats! It is full glory time. They are everywhere. Oh! and I noticed that when we want to talk about the lack of work at work, we all drag our chairs to the middle of the cubicle and whisper to each other like guilty conspirators. This place also seems to be very much like a Meerkat colony — lots of heads pop up when the alert goes out.

  • max

I’m not sure what I think of this. I actually like Scorpio moons, of course, but then full moons are annoying since that be on my natal 1/7 axis. So it ought to be good, except, everything has been awful for a coupla years, so I should probably expect something unimportant but bad. Or not.max['Blah.']

Antique Rose Emporium. Notice the you-know-whats! It is full glory time. They are everywhere.A feast for winter weary eyes! We still have traces of snow left from last week’s snow storm . . . bleh! This place also seems to be very much like a Meerkat colony — lots of heads pop up when the alert goes outLOL! I love Meerkats. And the image of heads popping up out of cubicles is hysterical! :-)

Max, you always make me laugh!! and, OTOH, your Libra is showing . . . :-D

Hm, I’m curious to see how this plays out. Both full moons are going to be conjoining two conjunctions for me. First over my Pluto-Mars opp. my north node in the 4th house. Spotlight on need to oppose family desires and getting out of this job rut??? Then it’s over onto my Saturn-Mercury and opp. my chiron. Blah… I agree with Devil Mood. I always go blank around full moons, I expect the spectacular, and always miss something. :(

  • Haiku Ambulance

I don’t know what this influence is going to be for me, but I do have Taurus in the 3rd and lately feel like I don’t know or can’t express anything, leastways, there’s no time to plod and I can’t do it any other way.

  • neith

Blah… I agree with Devil Mood. I always go blank around full moons, I expect the spectacular, and always miss something. :(LOL! The first one impacting your Mars may have a more observable impact simply because Mars is the active element! :-)

  • neith

but I do have Taurus in the 3rd and lately feel like I don’t know or can’t express anything, leastways, there’s no time to plod and I can’t do it any other way.And Gemini doesn’t like that! Neptune is transiting your 1st house semi-sextile your Mars (ruler of Aries, the sign on the cusp of your 3rd house) and that may be the source of confusion in expression. The second Full Moon is going to fall on the IC with the Sun on your MC calling attention to career aspirations vs. your home life. :-)

  • Mandy

Too tired right nowto check but will do tomorrow sometime :(

  • leslee

Both those full moons affect my chart. The Scorpio 1 degree hits between my Jupiter and Neptune (0.44 and 2.54 Scorp) just before my IC (7 Scorp). Also sextiles my Merc and Venus/Pluto at 0-2 Virgo. I have 5 progressed planets in Scorp too! (Venus and Neptune closest at 4, and Sun on the IC at 7). Focus on the homefront, and emotional base. Then the next full moon should hit my Mars at 27 Taurus (progressed is 29) up in my 10th house. But it feels like the emphasis is all down by my IC rather than up in the 10th.

  • chrispito

do they have highspeed internet in antarctica yet max? should i go back and comment over there? ;)full moons…I wonder when they’ll hit my MC. Unless I no longer have a Scorpio MC now that I’m exploring the equalized house system..hm. It’s official: scholl has made me insane!

  • chrispito

    …and a bad speller…jeez!

  • Mandy

Uh uh … why am I not surprised….Guess 8th / 2nd house …Will there be anything left of me? All I can say is astrology works…

  • neith

But it feels like the emphasis is all down by my IC rather than up in the 10th.Hi leslee!Could it have something to do with having your Moon conjunct your ASC giving it a special emphasis in your chart, therefore giving the 4th house matters more weight? Scorpio is all about the energy too and Taurus is a much more laid back sign in general. At any rate, this will be an opportunity for you to observe how this works . . . ::grin::

  • neith

full moons…I wonder when they’ll hit my MC. Unless I no longer have a Scorpio MC now that I’m exploring the equalized house system..hm. It’s official: scholl has made me insane!LOL!! Well, with Equal houses, Virgo is on your MC. :-D Did you get tired of seeing those squinchy little houses & great big ones?! Hey, this Full Moon cycle will give you an idea of how well equal house vs. Koch houses works for you!

  • neith

Guess 8th / 2nd house …Will there be anything left of me? All I can say is astrology works…LOL, Mandy!! Is this what’s known as black humor?! Keep us posted, either here or on Pisces Chronicles . . . take care and many blessings to you & yours during this time.

  • Devil Mood

This last couple of weeks, two friends from my past have showed up. It was a bit shocking at first, but nice also.Mars is now activating my Cardinal t-square, but it hasn’t been that bad. I must say though that my mood swings are reaching a new level. lol Coming back to the full moons in Scorpio, I think they’ll be very different in terms of significance. The first one will be in my 7th house, cj. Pluto. Intense. The 2nd one in my 8th house opposing Chiron. Ouch. ;)So I think one may be more about relating to other people and the other about healing my self. But I never know exactly what our main focus on Full Moons should be. New Moons I get. hehe

  • neith

Mars is now activating my Cardinal t-square, but it hasn’t been that bad. I must say though that my mood swings are reaching a new level. lol Oh DM! Running from one end of the emotional seesaw to the other?! Fortunately now Mars is moving fast enough, his effect will pass pretty quickly for a change! But I never know exactly what our main focus on Full Moons should be. New Moons I get. heheThink oppositions for Full Moon & of course, conjunctions for New Moons. Since oppositions are always in complementary signs & elements, they are less difficult to deal with than squares or inconjuncts. Mostly I see the Full Moon (emotional/intuitive side) played out by projection on someone or something outside of ourselves. (neith’s astrology lesson for the day . . . ::grin::)

  • Devil Mood

Neith, I need all the lessons I can get so thanks :)With New Moons it’s the time for beginnings and the full Moons to collect the benefits. Should we try to integrate those oppositions into our lives? Should we work more on things that are outside ourselves?See my Mercury is in Capricorn, I need to know what we need to do in practical terms lol

  • leslee

Could it have something to do with having your Moon conjunct your ASC giving it a special emphasis in your chart, therefore giving the 4th house matters more weight?Hm, could be. I think the work/career space is pretty stable right now while the major changes are going on in the home space (will be moving this summer) and emotional space. Which is more 4th house, but it’s also that I have major 1st house transits (Saturn is there, on Merc and Venus/Pluto) as well as 2nd/8th (transiting Uranus in the 8th opposite my Sun). Shifts are in the personal space (and with the 8th I suppose psychological) – 8th translates to Scorpio which translates to my IC… Yes, we’ll see how it plays out!

  • neith

Should we work more on things that are outside ourselves?See my Mercury is in Capricorn, I need to know what we need to do in practical terms lolYou know . . . with the Aries rush at hand, it may be a matter of dealing with what’s demanding attention the loudest. don’t worry, you have enough Cardinal & Fire to handle it!! lol

One of the many reasons I love Virgos is they usually have neat, clean way of working with data. :-D

Speaking of confusion, I’m reading the ultimate book on confusion, Swann’s Way. Marcel keeps looking for a way toward authoritative reality outside of his subjectivity and is continually thwarted. This modernist literature hurts. I keep thinking, stop tricking me, people do have a grasp on reality and no writerly pyrotechnics are going to convince me otherwise! At the same time, I’m learning about intersubjectivity or how people effectively communicate and share reality. I’m using it to show those solipsists/skeptics/Marxists :). It’s weird, lately I don’t just plod, I open my mouth to say a lot and nothing comes out and I’m bummed out too (which with all my Jupiter, I’m usually not). I have the distinct worry that I’ve stopped being lucky and things are going to go down the tubes or the mess I’ve made is finally going to backslap me.

Max, you always make me laugh!!I’m hysterical.and, OTOH, your Libra is showing . . . :-DYeah, well, it usually does. Clearly since Scorpios are evil manipulative sex machines, and I’m perfectly willing to reserve judgement, I must be not a Scorpio, so it’s all Libra, all the time. I coulda been an Aries! And Blogger doesn’t allow strike, the sods!Anyways, after thinking about it, the sun in my Seventh on a solar low must mean all the enemies come home to roost and the full moon means, ‘Oh, yeah, you hate me, don’t you?’ or something like that. Sounds ugly.do they have highspeed internet in antarctica yet max? should i go back and comment over there? ;)Yes! High speed internet has arrived in Antartica and as soon as I finish carving holes in the wall, it might even work. Which means I should be able to resume doing nothing at a much much faster pace.max['Why, I could even add another meaningless post!']

Hmm, my ascendant is 3 degree Scorpio and my moon is 0 degree Sag, so it hits both ends. Wonder how that’s going to go.
