Observations: Speed Bump Ahead – Mars leaves Aries for Taurus

© Designpicssub | Dreamstime.com

We have one week left before Mars leaves Aries for Taurus on 11 May and those who have been enjoying moving at top speed need to prepare themselves for the slow down, while others can hardly WAIT for that to happen!

Mars remains within shouting distance of Jupiter in Aries this last week and is also being cheered on by Mercury and Venus traveling hand in hand in Aries. This is wonderful if you have a chart full of fire signs and/or cardinal signs, making it possible to enjoy this bold, forward thinking energy. If your chart leans towards water and earth or fixed signs, you can hardly wait for this to end.

Riding the Aries energy can be likened to riding a unicycle, staying in motion is what keeps you upright and the faster you go, the easier it is! We’ve been cruising along at a good clip ever since the vernal equinox and have become accustomed to this pace. That’s why it is important to realize when Mars leaves Aries for slow but steady Taurus on 11 May, many will have difficulty keeping their balance and their “unicycles” could fall over. Consider starting to slow down gradually between now and then . . . if you can. It won’t be easy with the other Aries planets urging us to keep up our speed.

I happen to know quite a few people with Mars in Taurus because my Mars in fixed Scorpio is very comfortable with their ideas about tempo and timing. No zipping around lighting fires and starting projects only to leave them lay for Mars in Taurus. They like to do one thing at a time before moving on to the next. Mars in Aries is the hare while Mars in Taurus in the tortoise.

The next step in the Taurus slowdown in when Mercury and Venus leave Aries together on 15 May, and this sweet combo in Taurus epitomizes laid-back and hedonistic. No worries for them!

Which group do you fall in? The one who has loved all this Aries or the one who just wants it all to stop so they can catch their breath.

Check out the Grand Trine in fire in this chart:  Mercury, Venus, Jupiter in Aries – North Node in Sagittarius – Moon in Leo  Those who have planets and Angles at 24° in fire signs get one last super charge! :D

  • I am divided as I love being busy and productive, but as I need time to adjust to change, the element of how things keep morphing from one second to the second has been doing my head in. So part of me will panic once Mars moves into Taurus and the other half will be relieved. Joys of a quincunx relo between the Sun and Rise!!!
Last time Mars was in Taurus, I stacked on a few kilos, actually, it started my epic rise from thin to chubby lol So I will be particularly vigilant about my diet and exercise this time around. Saturn was in Cancer too, retrograding, so whilst not on my Sun, I was probably sulk-eating.

I’m sure you aren’t alone in feeling this way. All the Aries planets have been opposing my Libra planets and I have to say my Aries hubby has been much more upbeat and busy during this period. My Libra side vastly prefers a more balanced sky . . . LOL

LOL! Yeah, we’re all going to have to watch out, especially when Venus & Jupiter are in Taurus. Those two are super good at tempting us to eat one more treat! :D

So far nothing “outward” has happened in my life (through this pile up of Cardinal energy transit). I have a lot of inward things going on but they are sneaky and quiet, like with all the calm, diligent book research I have been doing. It makes me feel like I am living in backwards world, where I do/feel the opposite of what I should with this energy on my natal Aries planets.

I am sure my rebellious Uranus energy is nodding at that comment and saying, “Don’t tell me what to do!” ;)

I am excited to have the stockpile of planets move into Taurus to see if I am affected by them as I should be (via the grounded Taurus energy), or if I continue to be the ‘one of these kids is doing his own thing’ (aka Electric Company TV show reference). ;)

      Hey Jax!

Uranus is delighted to be contrary just for the sake of being contrary! When we expect bold, dramatic, high profile events to mark his visit, we get subtle.

Do you think it may have something to do with Saturn currently conjoining your natal Uranus? :P

I think it must be, although when I historically look at Saturn transits, it never felt hard to do anything, on the contrary it just made doing the themes of whatever house he was in easy and natural (I graduated college when Saturn was in 9th house, found an amazing job when he was in the 10th, had a blast with a new group of friends via a volleyball league in the 11th, etc.).

If I had to guess I think it is TR Pluto on natal Mars plus TR Saturn on natal Uranus. Perhaps it is like energetic overload! :D I can’t feel the Aries energy because the white noise of Pluto and Saturn is turned up too loud. :)

I’m in the group that wants it all to slow down! With my Mars in Cancer and the rest of my fam’s Mars in Taurus, I think we like it better at a slower pace. I am ready for a vacation from the first 1/3 of 2011, for sure.

All those with Mars in the fixed signs with perhaps the exception of Mars in Leo prefer a more measured pace. Sensitive Cancer types are reeling under all this Aries. :P

Can you have a Grand Trine with a Node as one of the points? There’s nothing actually there at the Node, its just a calculated point so it seems like a bit of a stretch.

I have noticed a bit of excess in Aries energy lately, and my life has started moving forward after being stuck for quite a while. But as a Taurus, I’m more interested in what happens when the stellium moves into my sign. And then slow-moving Jupiter misses the big party, but stays in Taurus for a year.

      Hi Charles!

As a passing momentary influence, I’m OK with calling this a Grand Trine. In a natal chart or Solar Return, I agree with you. Calculated points lack “substance” for lack of a better word.

But as a Taurus, I’m more interested in what happens when the stellium moves into my sign. And then slow-moving Jupiter misses the big party, but stays in Taurus for a year.

I bet! Taurus types everywhere will be smiling when Mercury, Venus & Mars move into Taurus. The rest of us will need to watch our waistlines . . . :D

The last time Jupiter was in Taurus was Feb 2000 to July 2000 (it was briefly in Taurus in 1999 too).
