Mercury Rx: Time to Slow Down

I don’t know about anyone else but it seems my life has been on fast forward since my birthday in late October last fall and the first Saturn-Uranus opposition with Uranus (taking place on my tenth-fourth axis creating chaos on the home-front). My other on-going Uranus square Uranus transit has kept the background tension ratcheted up too . . . my moderation loving Libra Moon is NOT happy!

Now Mercury is going in reverse for the first time in 2009 and I’m looking forward to moving at a slower pace for the next three weeks. Saturn is also retrograde now as well as Ceres in Virgo – both of these affect my tenth house and I’m hoping will help me catch up with the backlog of work waiting to be done. With a Virgo Midheaven I’m very conscientious about taking care of business and find it distressing to feel like I’m not responding in a timely manner. Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . probably OVERLY conscientious but that’s Virgo for you!

There is another Saturn transit exact right now in my chart, and it’s a good example of why it’s important not to ignore outer planet to outer planet transits. It works like this: Saturn is squaring my natal Uranus. No big deal, right?! However, my natal Uranus is inconjunct my natal Mars-Mercury-Ascendant conjunction, so the Saturn transit is triggering that particular aspect pattern at this time increasing the frustration level. Saturn is also sextile to my Scorpio stellium providing support and telling me to just sit down and do the work already. In order to take advantage of flowing aspects like sextiles and trines, we often need to do so consciously.

For now the flood waters are gone, my dad is back in his own house with his new computer on the way, the weather is calm and dry, hopefully my Aries spouse will be able to complete a couple of jobs put on hold due to weather, and I will be able to catch my breath for change! Is anyone else glad to see this Mercury imposed slowdown?

This photo was taken when the deep cold was still upon us. This is the sun rising behind the trees with mist coming from the river.

I’m glad you survived the flooding neith. that really stinks. In the last few weeks mold has appeared in our apartment and now it is everywhere. It’s really disturbing and I wish I knew what to do. I know what I don’t want to do, and that’s move. :(

Bleach. At least mix water and bleach (search ‘Net for how much of each) and spray the mold. Seriously, mold is EVIL and must be stopped now. Be sure to wear good gloves rated for handling chemicals cuz it will burn through it.The prescribed thorough route is to spray bleach, wash the walls with it, spray mildewicide, DO NOT disturb the spores…which are what is spreading it.Better to search the web for full instructions. Glad the flood is over and you have quiet winter days ahead, dear neith. I just want to knit socks….up to my eyebrows in sock yarn. That’s my plans for this weekend. Clean out the living room closet (cuz the living room is VERY clean since I cleaned it last week) and knit. ANd cook, of course. Made chicken/sausage gumbo last weekend. It was yummy. This weekend, thinking about chili. Frito pie. yummm. Winter food.Lee the little British Sag does NOT understand that we like to cook for fun. We’re actually having a winter this winter — though we’re riding the temperature roller coaster — highs this weekend in the upper 60s, lows in the 40s. We had our performance reviews this week which has been hanging over us and worrying me for some time. The Others’ HR people think the French way of quanitifying our performance is mean so they said we’re all “The best. Exceptional performance.” cuz they don’t want to hurt our feelings. For once, I’m with them. Other than that, waiting for the Inaugaration next week, moving forward and then the big eclipses this year. I am still feeling quite balanced. how odd.

Hey Christy!Mold is nasty stuff and i was going to make the same suggestion Casey did – use a dilute bleach-water solution on all washable surfaces. From my own experience, i recommend opening doors & windows for ventilation because the fumes can be toxic. What kind of heat do you have? You may want to crank it up after you wash everything done and see if you can your house as dry as possible. Mold prefers damp conditions. I know what I don’t want to do, and that’s move. :( I hear you on that front . . . moving is waaaay down on my list of favorite activities! :-)

Hi Casey!!Yes, we survived the flooding one more time! Yay!We’re actually having a winter this winter — though we’re riding the temperature roller coaster — highs this weekend in the upper 60s, lows in the 40s.It’s been a strange winter here too. We had about a month of very, very cold, snowy weather before it warmed up and started to rain. We had a string of sunny days but that came to an end today and the winter inversion/fog has arrived. At least there is no snow to contend with – which is very unusual for January here.Winter comfort foods! Yum! I prepare a lot more soups during the winter but have had to stay away from the high caloric versions that i used to do. The old metabolism ain’t what it used to be. heeOther than that, waiting for the Inauguration next week, moving forward and then the big eclipses this year. I am still feeling quite balanced. how odd.I’m looking forward to watching the Inauguration too. Obama is likely to give a dynamite speech. Even if I don’t agree with him on every point, it’s still a downright pleasure to listen to an intelligent, articulate man for a change.Hey, enjoy that balanced feeling!! I’d love to say the same . . . :-)

oh, neith, I found a roving that I really liked. Is the offer still open?

  • neith

oh, neith, I found a roving that I really liked. Is the offer still open?Of course!! It may help to send me a sample of the size of yarn you wish to work with, otherwise it may be finer than you like to knit with!!

  • casey

It’s part superwash wool so it’ll be socks…so fine is good for me.Okay, I MAY actually get around to making that soap next weekend. Today it’s knitting and chili.

Thank you Casey and Neith for your good suggestions!I live in a 1920s apartment building with water filled radiators. My heat is what I like to call “state controlled heat.”My neighbour across the hall has a perfectly warm and dry suite, no mold. It’s weird…anyway I did the bleach thing. I’ve opened windows at both end of the house…the weather has been so crazy, and there has been intense fog these past few days so with the windows open I feel like I’m on a boat!! It’s sunny today, so everything is wide open.My landlord came home and found me tearing out the carpets and luckily didn’t get upset. I know with your basement problems and then the flooding how much you’ve been working around the house Neith. I thought of you a lot these past few weeks especially about what you’ve written in the past about Pluto through the 1st!This Mercury Rx definitely says gerbil to me, lol

I thought of you when I heard of the flooding. Since you didn’t mention it directly (in this post), I hope you made it through okay.I rarely find that Mercury retro slows things down. Usually, when it is slow (near its station), I am going on super-speed, but even when it’s retrograde I have plenty to do. Some of it may be due to the “brilliant” inspiration to do some house-cleaning and organization, though. I have to admit, that’s been occupying some of my time lately, but I’ve been mostly preoccupied with the inauguration!!!

Hey Christy,I live in a 1920s apartment building with water filled radiators. My heat is what I like to call “state controlled heat.”One of those places that has lots of “charm” and are best in mild, sunny weather?! LOLMy landlord came home and found me tearing out the carpets and luckily didn’t get upset.Yikes! But sounds like a very good idea to me if you have mold problems.

Hi Terry!I thought of you when I heard of the flooding. Since you didn’t mention it directly (in this post), I hope you made it through okay.Yes, we came through fine, just some water in the basement but since we didn’t lose power, the sump pump was able to keep up for the most part. I did use a wet-dry vac to clean up the last of the water. Our drive didn’t even wash out, so this flood was not too bad.I rarely find that Mercury retro slows things down. Usually, when it is slow (near its station), I am going on super-speed, but even when it’s retrograde I have plenty to do.I am still busy, busy too. Often Mercury Rx allows the activity to internalize rather than running into external problems. Actually starting to catch up with the backlog of work . . . a good feeling. :-D
