After the excitement of Leo season with Mars in Cancer aggravating the Uranus-Pluto square, the New Moon at 5° 27′ Virgo on 28 August 2011, 8:04 PM PDT, is positively mellow . . . something most of us will find very welcome.
This is a great New Moon to sit down and work out new routines and daily schedules. In fact, with Pluto in Capricorn AND Jupiter in Taurus trine the luminaries, you may not have much choice in the matter. Capricorn is an orderly sign and understands the need for setting priorities and sticking with them; and we all know Taurus is happiest with as little change as possible. Between Jupiter’s enthusiasm and Pluto’s power, Virgos everywhere will find it much easier to promote their excellent ideas for healthy lifestyles and daily routines. After all, we all know the benefits of a good night’s sleep, eating our veggies and consistent, frequent exercise, don’t we?
Probably the biggest blessing of this lunation is Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, moving forward once more. The feedback I’ve been getting says this was a tough retrograde for lots of folks in large part due to Neptune opposing Mercury first in Virgo and then in Aquarius. The day after the New Moon Mercury will have picked up enough speed to get most things back to normal. Saturn in Libra offers support via a wide sextile to Mercury, excellent for those reorganization efforts. Mars in Cancer is semi-sextile and while that’s more irritating, it does energize Mercury. The positive connection between Mercury in Leo and the Nodal axis in Gemini-Sagittarius offers inspiration and the ability to reach a wide audience.
Sweetening the New Moon is Venus in Virgo. This rather understated Venus is a genius at coming up with methods to soothe and heal us through simple, practical means. This is the Venus who knows the comfort of clean sheets, fresh homemade bread, delicate fragrances and kind words. The trine from Jupiter in Taurus injects an upbeat attitude and appreciation for the finer things without breaking the budget.
Speaking of breaking the budget, this is a great New Moon for getting real about saving money and living frugally without feeling deprived. Virgo is very good at gathering up all the information needed to figure exactly where cuts can be made and efficiency improved. Venus will ensure we won’t end up feeling unduly deprived.
Not all is sweetness and light because Uranus in Aries is still squaring Pluto in Capricorn though this aspect’s influence is beginning to wane . . . thankfully!! Uranus also irritates the luminaries via an inconjunct. Aries just does NOT get Virgo’s need to check every single detail before making a move but Virgo is not going to budge on this point due to Pluto’s backup at this time. The message here is stomping around impatiently will do you no good so step back, sit down and be prepare to wait. You’ll be happy with the results!
Finally we have an opportunity to relax our vigilance and feel like we can plan ahead for a change. After the turbulence and angst of recent weeks this is a big relief. Take advantage of this New Moon to establish good, healthy routines to improve overall health and well-being.
On a personal note: Saturn in Libra conjoining my Moon is still my greatest challenge on this New Moon and is continuing to weigh me down. By the Full Moon in Pisces on 12 September, this transit will be complete! Yay! Sure, Saturn still will conjoin my Sun but that is far enough away I can relax for awhile.
To my relief, Mars in Cancer will no longer square either Saturn or my Moon on the New Moon, and I have trines from Mars to my Scorpio planets and Ascendant to look forward to. Mercury in Leo is squaring my Scorpio Mars-Mercury, adding an edge to my words temporarily.
These days I take every break I can get, no matter how small.
