New Moon in Virgo, August 28, 2011

After the excitement of Leo season with Mars in Cancer aggravating the Uranus-Pluto square, the New Moon at 5° 27′ Virgo on 28 August 2011, 8:04 PM PDT, is positively mellow . . . something most of us will find very welcome.

This is a great New Moon to sit down and work out new routines and daily schedules. In fact, with Pluto in Capricorn AND Jupiter in Taurus trine the luminaries, you may not have much choice in the matter. Capricorn is an orderly sign and understands the need for setting priorities and sticking with them; and we all know Taurus is happiest with as little change as possible. Between Jupiter’s enthusiasm and Pluto’s power, Virgos everywhere will find it much easier to promote their excellent ideas for healthy lifestyles and daily routines. After all, we all know the benefits of a good night’s sleep, eating our veggies and consistent, frequent exercise, don’t we?

Probably the biggest blessing of this lunation is Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, moving forward once more. The feedback I’ve been getting says this was a tough retrograde for lots of folks in large part due to Neptune opposing Mercury first in Virgo and then in Aquarius. The day after the New Moon Mercury will have picked up enough speed to get most things back to normal. Saturn in Libra offers support via a wide sextile to Mercury, excellent for those reorganization efforts. Mars in Cancer is semi-sextile and while that’s more irritating, it does energize Mercury. The positive connection between Mercury in Leo and the Nodal axis in Gemini-Sagittarius offers inspiration and the ability to reach a wide audience.

Sweetening the New Moon is Venus in Virgo. This rather understated Venus is a genius at coming up with methods to soothe and heal us through simple, practical means. This is the Venus who knows the comfort of clean sheets, fresh homemade bread, delicate fragrances and kind words. The trine from Jupiter in Taurus injects an upbeat attitude and appreciation for the finer things without breaking the budget.

Speaking of breaking the budget, this is a great New Moon for getting real about saving money and living frugally without feeling deprived. Virgo is very good at gathering up all the information needed to figure exactly where cuts can be made and efficiency improved. Venus will ensure we won’t end up feeling unduly deprived.

Not all is sweetness and light because Uranus in Aries is still squaring Pluto in Capricorn though this aspect’s influence is beginning to wane . . . thankfully!! Uranus also irritates the luminaries via an inconjunct. Aries just does NOT get Virgo’s need to check every single detail before making a move but Virgo is not going to budge on this point due to Pluto’s backup at this time. The message here is stomping around impatiently will do you no good so step back, sit down and be prepare to wait. You’ll be happy with the results!

Finally we have an opportunity to relax our vigilance and feel like we can plan ahead for a change. After the turbulence and angst of recent weeks this is a big relief. Take advantage of this New Moon to establish good, healthy routines to improve overall health and well-being.

On a personal note: Saturn in Libra conjoining my Moon is still my greatest challenge on this New Moon and is continuing to weigh me down. By the Full Moon in Pisces on 12 September, this transit will be complete! Yay! Sure, Saturn still will conjoin my Sun but that is far enough away I can relax for awhile.

To my relief, Mars in Cancer will no longer square either Saturn or my Moon on the New Moon, and I have trines from Mars to my Scorpio planets and Ascendant to look forward to. Mercury in Leo is squaring my Scorpio Mars-Mercury, adding an edge to my words temporarily.

These days I take every break I can get, no matter how small. :D

Nice :) woohooo! Nearly there and it is like we’re playing Saturn/Moon tag teams this month! This Mercury stationing has a wicked kick and I am glad it is not just me, as it is sitting right on my DSC. Talk about vague! Who am I? and whilst you’re explaining that…who are you? Writing has been ridiculous, but not quite as exotic as speaking out loud. NO idea what dialogue I have connected to in my sleep, but it is not humanese! I have always been prone to calling my children by their siblings names, running through the list until I get to the right one, but I seem to have snuck a few alien babies in there over the years ;) The upswing, first cup of coffee and I took my time editing this post! She learns, she learns xo

This has been one of the more difficult Mercury Retches to deal with though in fairness to Mercury, it was Mars in Cancer squaring Uranus, opposing Pluto and lastly squaring Saturn creating the loudest noise. Almost done with Mars poking at me . . . Yay! :P

My mother did much the same, especially at the end of a long day when she was tired and frustrating with the four of us. :D

Thank you for the memories, and the first chuckle of my day. My very own mother always called the wrong siblings name when there was trouble a foot, amazing how many times my brother would have to remind her he was not I. Lol

I am breathing easier too..I love Mercury to bits, but all this in-fighting by Mars has been sooo distracting..have I reviewed and made the right choices; have I made all the right noises to the right people..just glad Saturn has moved off my case and allowed me a little playtime with Uranus..it’s been 2 summers of all this angst for me – but life has improved no end in many ways as I’ve buckled down and got on with it!

Looking forward to a little soothing and healing time…(please!)

      Welcome to LSB, Penny!

Me too. After all Mercury conjoins my ASC [from the 12th]. This past Mercury Rx was a real wake-up call about what happens when a Mercury Rx is added to other tough transits to one’s natal chart. Besides, Mars in Cancer is just not Libra’s best friend . . . :D
