Observations: Libra New Moon Follow-up

© Stephanie Pui-Mun Law

No surprise this week’s Libra New Moon ushered in some important changes for me. The day of the New Moon I found out I needed to find a new primary care physician because Medicare does not recognize naturopathic doctors. Whilst I love my doctor and will continue seeing her occasionally to tune up my supplements, it is more important in the long view to establish new relationships with other medical professionals.

I sat down and drew a couple of cards for advice on this situation and the first card was the Seven of Cups. Yup! Lots of choices and only a few of them viable! Wading thru information of Medicare coverage, Medicare supplemental insurance and Part D coverage for prescriptions are enough to drive anyone slightly nuts. Not to mention calling around to find out if there were any doctors locally even accepting new patients on Medicare. Gah!

The second card was the Star, giving me hope of a positive outcome. Turns out the clinic I went to last year for some tests just added a new doc who filled the bill. This works outs very well because he can access all my medical records and history easily. There is a good women’s health clinic in the same system too. Ironically, this will be the first time in my life I will have similar access to healthcare as most of you do through your employers. Being self employed has serious drawbacks and unaffordable health insurance is one of them. I don’t even want to think about paying the full amounts of income tax instead of the half employers don’t pay.

The New Moon opposing Uranus has kept me away from my computer and out doing things with my Ram – both work and play. Very busy times lately where thoughts of cloning myself sound good. *grin*

Did this New Moon stir your life up good?

Hi Diane – Sorry you lost your regular physician, but glad you’re discovering reasonable alternatives.:) It makes such a difference to have a good relationship with someone you know and trust, particularly someone who knows your history.

This New Moon fell within a few degrees of my 2nd house cusp and was right on the midpoint of my 12th house Pluto/2nd house Neptune. Coincidentally, my New Moon experience also relates to health insurance, in that I decided to divest my from any for-profit health insurance companies. Unfortunately, not even the “socially conscious” investment vehicles (available through the retirement plan I had through my previous employer) offer any viable alternatives, so now I have to shop around.:(

Btw, my husband has health insurance through his employer, yet for a variety of reasons we can’t comfortably afford to use it, unless it’s something critical; even then, it doesn’t cover everything. And my husband’s share of the premium eats up a good percentage of his salary each month. Sadly, it’s not like it was in the good old days – I speak from experience, coming from a family where both parents made their careers in the industry, as did I for a time.

This New Moon seems to have highlighted what it is that I value, including people over profits.

Oh my . . . you have your job cut out for you. I did a tiny bit of research on the history of health insurance in the US and it clearly tracks the profit motive. With big Pharma, docs & hospitals and insurance companies heavily invested in maintaining the status quo, my gut says we will be living with this for quite some time to come. Not to mention lawyers . . . :P

At least you both recognize this. Many don’t.

Exactly! Wish more people would recognize this! :D

  • Thank you for doing this follow-up. What a good thing.

The Libra New Moon was a rough one for me, Diane. It fell in my 8th and was conjunct my Saturn. One of my elder cats suddenly stopped eating. She’s very ill. While at the vet’s office, I was introduced to an 8 week old rescued puppy which I adopted. These are two important and committed relationships that have dominated my week in every way. In my heart I don’t think my kitty will survive. The death/new life theme of the 8th is highlighted. (That was hard to write.)

We just never know what a New Moon will bring. For an animal lover like me (I’ve been dubbed Ellie May by many), this is not a silly, trivial interpretation of the New Moon’s transit. It’s pretty big, and exhausting.

      Thanks cj! :D

Dealing with watching a beloved pet fade away is very, very difficult. I resisted finding a new companion after my old dog died in 2007 but about a year ago, a calico kitty showed up on my doorstep with a badly damaged tail. She’s still here, very healthy w/a stub of a tail & has wormed her way into both my Rams’ heart (he is NOT a cat person) and mine. She LOVES children and will let them pack her around.

Introducing an 8 wk old puppy into the household?! Oh you brave soul! Puppies embody ‘cute’ but they also require plenty of supervision. LOL

Not an easy Libra lunar cycle this autumn. **sigh**

      • My kitty is rising like a phoenix! She has started eating again and taking her medicine. She didn’t eat a thing for 8 days. I guess it just goes to show you not to second guess an 8th house transit, or any house for that matter.

        • Diane L

Cats!!! :D They are incredibly tough creatures, aren’t they? Very happy to hear your kitty is improving. Years ago when I worked as a vet assistant if the cat or dog were eating & drinking, it was a good sign they were OK or on the way.

My most heart wrenching experience with a beloved kitty was watching my Siamese kitty’s eyes go from blue to green due to liver failure. She wasn’t eating or drinking, just purring. :(

Contentiousness and discord, ah yes. Transiting Moon touched my natal Venus which I believe is on the cusp of my 6th house of work environment. I’ve reached the limits of my patience with two slackers in my life. They are about to receive notice that the BS-meter just broke and they will notice a change in tone. One is a co-worker who I suspect is playing fast and loose with the rules, which will harm all of us there. Everyone is unhappy with him and I am planning to speak up and force the issue. If it leads to further discord and this jackass getting sacked, so be it. I dunno what shifted, exactly, but the way seems clearer now.

As for the other, it’s closer to home (my renter) who hasn’t been doing the physical work/labor (is this also 6th house?) he agreed to do in exchange for lower rent, and I’m gonna go all Scorpio on him in a minute here.

PS: When did you start writing whilst instead of while? :)

    • Diane L

      Hey Joe!

Oh yeah, both of these issues can be tied to your 6th house. The renter who isn’t helping with daily chores (also 6th house) fits too.

Saturn in Libra is part of this package and will be conjoining your natal Uranus (within a degree from 3 Oct to 20 Oct~). I can certainly see Saturn’s role in you feeling the need to step up and ask for accountability from both your renter & your coworker. Slackers will not be tolerated!! :)

Gemini N Node mimic that I am, I adopted ‘whilst’ from my Aussie friend, Karen. One of those words used in both the UK & Australia. :D

      • Joe

Thanks, that kinda makes sense. And I’m always saying “bloody this” and “feckin’ that” so I guess I do the same thing. :)

        • Diane L

Mimicking is a natural part of communicating effectively and I believe Gemini has an extra knack in this regard. Most of us will pick up regional accents/expressions in a remarkably short period of time. Body language is a little tougher especially if there is a decided difference in how close we are comfortable standing when conversing. :D
