A Libra Question & Miscellaneous Links

I have a question for those of you who read here with a strong Libra signature in your chart. It has to do with automatically moving to balance what’s happening or the recognition there is always another side to the story.

Over the years I have noticed if others are taking a strong stand on some issue, there is little voice that pips up in my head urging me to look at the opposing point of view. For instance, when I was reading all these glowing accounts of the wonderful changes Neptune conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius was going to bring us, my response was “Wait a minute! That reeks of to good to be true to me.” And I started blogging about making sure to be aware of expectations did not exceed reality. Lucy of Lucy Looking Upward coined what I still feel is the most appropriate term for the Aquarius stellium of Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron – The Clusterfuck of Doom! At the other end of the spectrum, reading the “sky is falling” posts made me feel the need to say “not likely.”

I tend to do this my relationships too but have learned to step back from taking this too far. Libra can get so caught in being the balance wheel; they forget to look after their own needs, hopes and dreams.

What I’m wondering is if anyone else deals with too. It seems to me the typical response to an expression of a strong opinion by one person is most people jumping right on board . . . like sheep in a flock.

Links to Blogs of Interest

Over the past few weeks I have had the good fortune to find a couple delightful but veeerrry different Aquarius bloggers hard at work in the astro-blogosphere. Sammie K of My Libra Rising is all elegance and beauty while Larry Fowler of Life, Spirit and Astrology whose Sun is conjunct Jupiter with Leo Rising has plenty of tales to share from his rich and varied experiences.

If you wish to see beautiful images and read posts on fashion, beauty tips, fine food and other topics related to all things Libra, then stop by My Libra Rising. If you enjoy reading a well told story with astrology thrown in, then head over to Life, Spirit and Astrology. Larry is another of us past their Second Saturn Return and has lived a full and interesting life . . . which to his amazement, he survived.

As always, stop by Donna Cunningham’s blog, Sky Writer, to read her tips and suggestions for dealing with the upcoming Mars retrograde in Leo. I cannot think of a better place to find out what we need to know to not only survive this transit but handle it with grace and style. Also know I’m not alone in being very thankful Donna decided to start blogging! Thanks, Donna for all your contributions!

Just want to remind everyone to remember to check out the latest posts on Elsa P’s AstroDispatch, the single best place I know of to find what is happening in the astro-blogosphere.

Image: Winter is here and all the lovely, bright leaves of Fall have fallen. This is the same aspen grove I photographed earlier this fall . . . big change.

Enormous thanks to you Neith for that very kind mention. It has been hard work just like you said, but very satisfying indeed. I'm just happy to be creative again and to be able express it all in this way through my blog – and I am enjoying myself immensely! I shall look forward to visiting those other blogs you mentioned here too.As for the query re; libra and balance .. Ufff! – story of my life! With a wayward aquarian sun sign and flexible libra asc. + moon, I am continually fighting between my tenacious need for independence and my need to compromise with others. I can't bear to flock with the sheep, yet I love being sociable! It depends on the situation, but if "swimming upstream" means upsetting others, then I'd prefer to just drop off the radar and ruminate in solitude – lol! Although I am learning to respect my own needs too :) Regarding the Jup/Nep/Chiron stellium, this is not the first time I have heard that it is far from what it's cooked up to be – even Jupiter transits can be terribly depressing I've heard.P.S Lovely images on your slide show!

Oh, you know me :). I'm always up for arguing what doesn't quite sound right. Unlike what many textbooks will tell us, Librans aren't here to argue only for the sake of arguing but to bring to light solutions in the name of fairness to all involved…

Hmm I have the tendency to always want to think the opposite of what other people do (something you wouldn't guess by my chart!! *irony*). If I'm talking to you, I can be very agreeable and completely see your point of view, I'm really good at putting myself on other people's shoes. But then if I step away from your shoes, I immediately step into someone else's shoes and see their point too. I'm often very divided and ambivalent, as you can imagine. hehe

Hi Sammie!Always happy to steer others to blogs I find enjoyable. :-) As for the query re; libra and balance .. Ufff! – story of my life! With a wayward aquarian sun sign and flexible libra asc. + moon, I am continually fighting between my tenacious need for independence and my need to compromise with others. I can't bear to flock with the sheep, yet I love being sociable! Excellent description of what happens when Uranus motivated independence melds with Libra's need for social interaction. The internet has turned out to be a surprisingly good compromise for me. I live in a rural area and the internet allows me access to a wide variety of people, images and information. It depends on the situation, but if "swimming upstream" means upsetting others, then I'd prefer to just drop off the radar and ruminate in solitude – lol! Although I am learning to respect my own needs too :) Yes, withdrawal rather than confrontation is my preference too. 12th house Sun & Mars prefers to step back and give others enough rope to hand themselves . . .

Hey Deborah!!Unlike what many textbooks will tell us, Librans aren't here to argue only for the sake of arguing but to bring to light solutions in the name of fairness to all involved…See?! We do good, don't we!! Now my Libra mom admitted she did like to argue. She and her Cappy sister used to refer to being in the middle of their "all day arguments", and she & my dad bickered all the time. Maybe why I DO NOT go there with my Aries husband. We rarely, as in roughly once a year, have disagreements and those are usually very brief.

Hey DM! Good to "see" you . . .if I'm talking to you, I can be very agreeable and completely see your point of view, I'm really good at putting myself on other people's shoes. But then if I step away from your shoes, I immediately step into someone else's shoes and see their point too. I'm often very divided and ambivalent, as you can imagine. heheLOL! Do you think this is related to most of your planets being on the right hand side of your chart? Plus slightly more in mutable than the other elements? Most of my planets are in the upper left hand quadrant and I tend to be very independent in my thinking despite my agreeable Libra side.

As you know, I have that stellium in Libra going on. And boy I do this opposing view thing you describe! I often hold contrary opinions from the majority because I take the time to think things through critically. In the process, I find out the hidden agenda(s). It puts me at odds with a lot of people a lot of the time. In fact I occasionally feel like Cassandra from the Trojan War, gifted by the gods with insight, but cursed to be believed by no one.

Hey Joe!And boy I do this opposing view thing you describe! I often hold contrary opinions from the majority because I take the time to think things through critically. In the process, I find out the hidden agenda(s).Could it be there is a serious lack of critical thinking around?!?!? :-) In fact I occasionally feel like Cassandra from the Trojan War, gifted by the gods with insight, but cursed to be believed by no one.Yes, that's a familiar place. :::sigh::: Watching a train wreck about to take place and knowing there is little to nothing one can do is frustrating. Maybe our lesson is to continue to learn to detach – and let what will happen, happen.

I second Sammie K's sentiments on your kind mentions. I only recently got high-speed internet – we live way out in the wildwoods of northern Michigan – and my blog is only a couple of weeks old. Neith, you have been a kind, gracious and uplifting friend during these past weeks and you know how much I appreciate you.My blog is essentially about my wild and crazy life and what I've learned from it. With my Moon conj my MC, I have to put it all out there, hence the Life part of the title. Spirit is about just that: the living spirit in the world and how we are working toward Be-coming.Astrology is a main theme and I try to apply it in my experiences when I can remember (Second Saturn Return, see?) dates and even times. I've been studying the art for 30 years and still feel like a novice. But, I love it to death and I'll use it to help anyone I can. And, finally, I'm a true Aquarian (6 degrees) who is conjunct Jupiter, Venus and trines Mars and Neptune in Libra. Rather sweetly energetic? Big ego that I work hard to control and poetic, always poetic. Not bad for an ex-cop, eh? Thank you, Diane…

"Yes, withdrawal rather than confrontation is my preference too" ..Good to know Neith, that someone else has similar reactions to me in situations like this, lol! By the way, my sun is in 4th house (moon conj.mars 12th & Jupiter in 8th.

Waving a "hi" to fellow Aquarian Larry Fowler :) Great blog!

AstroBarry's weekly for Libra sounds like a Saturn in Libra wakeup call. I have been feeling something similar myself. LIBRA (September 23-October 22): To go completely silent is to effectively remove your voice from the chorus that, in the end, will be seen to sing a song representing your interests. Trust me, Libra, you don't want to sacrifice your shot at contributing sentiments which will indeed have a significant effect on the group's ultimate statement. The trick is to make noticeable waves, but without the corresponding turbulence that's apt to tighten or turn any crewmates' stomachs. You've got the suave swagger (minus the unpalatable ego-inflation) to pull this off. Yet, it won't work if you sit back and simply respond to what comes at you. You've got to get ahead of the parade, enlisting fellow believers before they're unduly exposed to appealing-sounding alternatives. Otherwise, your attempts to too-subtly seduce them in your desired directions will prove too little too late. Their minds will have already been made up, thanks to the influence of others who aren't afraid of forcefully pressing their agenda.

Here's what he has to say for Aquarius for this week . . . very interesting theme going on:AQUARIUS (January 20-February 18): You can't mask your own interpersonal challenges behind the gleaming rhetoric of your 'people skills'. The ideals you espouse about fairness and respect for individuality fall short, Aquarius, when you dodge head-on confrontations in order to save yourself the hassles. Just how 'evolved' is it to hold your relationships at arm's length, so as to reserve yourself the breathing space to remain relatively unimpacted (or so you might claim) by the differences between you and others? You stunt your own development by refusing to explicitly express longings for what you want from them, and/or by letting their longings which you aren't enthusiastic about fulfilling slip by without mention. That's akin to settling into a situation that's only partly satisfying without even trying for the real prize… and essentially stating that's all you ever expect to get from your relationship life. Left unaddressed, it's also a roadmap for future loneliness or isolation—without, that is, the freedoms of being alone.

Thank you, Sammie! I signed up on your site, not for me but for my wife. :-) But I found it beautifully aesthetic and well put. Keep up the good work as I see you're a rookie like me..And Neith, in response to your AstroBarry report: I must say that I've never looked at myself quite that way and Barry is right out there with h/her thoughts! I love people, individually and as a group (mostly :) but I love my solitude, too. That's the problem with identifying too closely with a sun sign; you tend to generalize. It's kind of like racial profiling only astrology based.I wonder if there will ever be rules of conduct to cover astrology? If ever come the day…And Neith…I love your site..

  • Sammie K.

Thank you Larry, that was a wonderful gesture. You know I really wanted to sign on yours earlier because I love poetry but was also aware that my site was not appropriate on the inverse. Thank you for your compliments all the same! :) A big warm welcome to your wife on my site, I hope that she enjoys it. See you on yours soon! Hugs.

Oh my god Neith – who is this Barry?He/she is quite exacting! I chuckled whole heartedly whilst reading about Libra, that's me OK, socially and creatively. But when I began to read about Aquarius, I must admit, I came to an abrupt silence. It's kinda like me in "some" ways but not entirely. Certainly reminded me of another Aquarian (with a stellium of 6!!) The trouble with me is that I sometimes get too enthusiastic – too soon. I show my feathers, strut my stuff and then fall flat on my face when an uncomfortable situation arises, (must be the Aquarian in me?) lol! Oh well, we can't all be perfect can we? :)

AstroBarry is this delightful gay man who lives in San Francisco and is an astrologer among other things. I believe he is a fellow Libra. He writes a good sun sign weekly horoscope which is quite an accomplishment because the darn things need to be so general.****************************In case anyone wonders about the name change, I have decided to start using my given name instead of Neith on this blog. Not quite sure why but the time feels right. :-)

"Do you think this is related to most of your planets being on the right hand side of your chart?"Yes, including Mars in the diplomatic sign. ;) And I always blame everything on my Moon near the Ascendant, my identity gets a little blurred at time. "I tend to be very independent in my thinking despite my agreeable Libra side." – I like that! And slightly envy it too :)
