The lingering trine between Saturn in Libra and Venus in Gemini got me to thinking about the relationship between stern Saturn and pleasure seeking Venus. A trine between these two planets is about as good as it gets because it means Venus finds it much easier to appreciate Saturn’s better qualities like dependability without feeling pressured to conform.
Usually Venus-Saturn aspects don’t last very long due to Venus’s rate of travel. She moves far more quickly than Saturn at roughly a degree a day unless stationing retrograde or direct. The current trine has been within a degree or two of exact since 6 May and will last until 27 May. Taking into account Saturn is in Libra where it is exalted and the trine is to Venus, Libra’s ruling planet, it is an understandably beneficial influence. Compared to some other recent Venus stations, the effect on this one was noticeably softened. Hey, I’m still very happy with the haircut I received the day Venus stationed retrograde!
I consider my Libra self fortunate as my natal Venus in Sagittarius is widely trine my natal Saturn in Leo. Saturn reins in the more extreme side of Venus in Sagittarius who can feel the need to be footloose and fancy free at all costs. Being married – a Saturn institution – really settled me down with no regrets.
The conjunction between Venus and Saturn is often far more challenging to live with because Venus is constantly aware of Saturn breathing down her neck, reminding her of the rules of good behavior. Sextiles between these two planets whilst not quite as good as the trine are still favorable since Saturn remains open to discussion about his tendency to be controlling.
If those two are square, both suffer – Venus because she can feel very unloved and unappreciated with Saturn feeling ignored and frustrated. Those who live with the square often have difficulty sustaining happy relationships because in their heart of hearts they doubt their lovability. With Saturn there is always hope if we are willing to dig around in our inner beings and patiently work on improving our relationship with our selves. Often one or both parents came across as overly authoritarian and critical. As we all know, the parental voices in our heads echo very powerfully even when we are adults.
The opposition between Venus and Saturn is similar to the square yet less harsh at the same time. Saturn in this instance is often an authority figure of some kind who reminds us about following the rules with no slacking allowed. Teachers, bosses, a much older partner or significant other are all examples. If we practice being our own authority figure it will decrease the need to find this in another person.
Whether we have a natal Venus-Saturn aspect or are undergoing a transit from Saturn to our natal Venus, it is essentially about learning to behave in a responsible, mature manner. Saturn is very clear about playing fast and loose with other people’s feelings, monies or property. Treating others with consideration, tolerance and respect never goes out of fashion, does it?

How’d you know I’ve been thinking about this exact aspect lately??? First of all… I, too, got a haircut when venus was station, and I’m still happy with it, too! haha.
AND, my boyfriend (yes, you gave me an excuse to talk about my boyfriend…I am a double Libra like you, after all) has venus in gemini trine saturn in aquarius…I’d have to say I am most thankful for it. He doesn’t take relationships lightly, and with my saturn hovering close above my ascendent, AND mars in cap, neither do I! I’ve seen this aspect get such a bad rap. To me, its kind of a god send. i’ve seen it manifest as a love of things that stand the test of time. Instead of emotions getting hot and heavy in the beginning and cooling off later, things start of cautious and slow, and love grows as time goes on. and our favorite song is “real love” by john lennon. is that not the perfect song for saturn trine venus?
Hey lady!!

Great! Doncha love it when the haircut just works?! Says one Venus in Sagittarius to another . . .

I know those of us with Saturn-Venus aspects are not always the most romantic sorts but we have our good points!
One of things about a huge “Romance” is it usually eats up time & energy often badly needed for things like making a living or Art or relationships with friends & family.
