Heading into a weekend when not one but TWO planets are stationing retrograde – Uranus in Aries and Mercury in Leo – it is a very good time to recall this whole business is an optical illusion as seen from here on planet Earth. In spite of all the fuss and bother we astrologers make over this phenomenon, the planets DO NOT turn around and go in reverse . . . they are continuing on their normal paths around the Sun, just as we are.
I have yet to see any consistent experiential data in my life corresponding to the typical list of issues supposedly caused by Mercury Retrograde. There are just as many glitches in communications, computer problems and frustrations with delays the rest of the time. Doing things like backing up our computers is best done every day or week instead of just before a Mercury retrograde, isn’t it? Double checking travel plans and making sure your passport is current is just common sense. In fact, much of what is recommended heading into a Mercury retrograde is common sense!
Do something fun and grounding like going for a walk, working in your yard and/or garden, cleaning house or cooking. Slow and deliberate is the ticket for the next few days. I tend to believe we’re feeling more pressure from Mars in Libra moving closer to triggering the Uranus-Pluto square than the two planetary stations. Intensifying cardinal pushiness does get the blood flowing!
Now I will get off my soapbox and go finish cleaning some strawberries to freeze. Summer has arrived with a vengeance here and all of a sudden we have fruits and vegetables ripening at a record pace. Very busy season is summer on the farm.

Completely off the astrology of the moment, we’re bogged down in soggy ground here in Old Blighty
Not much in the way of sun at all and temps 6-8c less than average. All caused by the jetstream bypassing South of the UK as a result of the change to the North Atlantic Oscillation. In short, loads of rain from the lows hitting us from the North.
Tomatoes and cherries aren’t ripening and no strawberries at all (lucky you having some to freeze). Courgettes (zucchini) and squashes are rotting on the vine. Potatoes, beans and peas ok and everything is very lush and completely overgrown. Very leggy plants due to lack of light…sigh And we’ve had to have the heating on again.
Really hoping we get an Indian summer with a bit more sun next month and September. Olympics will be a wash out otherwise and my veggie garden will be as well.

June was on the cool, damp side here but this past week brought a 180 change – temps now 32 to 37 C. We’ve gone from La Niña to El Niño in the Pacific. Amazing change in my hot weather crops – tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, squash, etc. Hope you all will see this happen too.
