Observations: Sun transiting the Twelfth House

© Bikszegi-lipai Daciana | Dreamstime.com

As the Sun in Scorpio eases deeper into my twelfth house, the awareness I need more time alone is growing. Over the weekend we had a house full of company of Saturday and then my Aries took advantage of a break in the weather to work on one of his jobs Sunday, giving me a day to myself. It felt soooo good it brought home the realization of how much I needed it.

Saturn in Scorpio is beginning its two year stay in my twelfth house, increasing sensitivity to twelfth house matters in general. Among other things the twelfth house is associated with monasteries and ashrams, places of silent contemplation. Therefore it makes sense we tend to retreat in some way from the hustle and bustle of everyday life when the Sun transits our twelfth house. Saturn’s presence emphasizes the need to acknowledge and to go within for reflection.

Often those of us with personal planets in the twelfth are more sensitive to “loud” people who take up all the space and air in any room they’re in. This can be true for those with their Moon in Pisces who also require more solitude than most. I don’t know many creative types who can work in a space with lots of noise and confusion either.

If I look at a simple solar chart with Libra on the Ascendant, then the Scorpio Sun is crossing my second house. This brings income and ways of earning money to the forefront, creating an awkward juxtaposition with the Sun transiting the twelfth house in my natal chart. No wonder I often spend a great deal of time thinking about my finances when alone during Scorpio season every year! This situation varies greatly for each individual . . . it’s rare for the natal and solar chart to be the same.

Adding to this transit is another layer of Neptune . . . Neptune at 0° Pisces is trine my 29° Libra Sun now. Lassitude is a common side effect of Neptune-Sun transits and I’ll vouch for that!

Those people with late Scorpio Risings like myself or with Sagittarius Rising are also experiencing the Sun in Scorpio transiting their twelfth house as well as Sagittarius Sun folk who have Scorpio on the twelfth in their solar chart. Just wondering if any of you have been feeling the need for more solitude?

UGH I know what you mean! Noise and the crowds get worse for me the more vintage I become! I am a typical crab and alone time is like oxygen to me. I can almost burst into tears of insanity if I am not able to grab an hour or two here and there. My moon is cusp my 12th House, or 12th House if you use alternative house systems, and I am even more of a hermit as I enter my annual new Moon phase. People should be born with ballet slippers, mute buttons and perpetually sincere positive, I tell you! Make 12th House action much more tolerable, that’s for sure.

Don’t I wish sometimes. Feel like someone pushed my “mute” button this week. LOL

Happy Belated B-Day, susan! At least Saturn hasn’t caught up with your Sun for this Solar Return. Perhaps now Saturn is out of Libra, there will be more opportunities to meet someone. BTW, it crosses your Sun towards the end of the year . . . :P

Not at the moment, or any more than usual, but in the months leading up to March 2010, prior to making my decision for my first surgery, I was day-dreaming of becoming a hermit. I actually took a 4 day sabbatical in a hermitage on a retreat center grounds, where I saw no one and had hot meals brought to the little cottage twice a day. It was out in the woods, a short walk from the retreat center. After about 24 hours, the silence I had craved started to get oppressive, and the anxious feeling of “should be doing something” was intense. I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay all 4 days, but I did because I (of course) had done my research ahead of time and knew that the anxiety would happen because we’re conditioned to always be on the go. It’s tough to go against that, but I think we need it, and am convinced that when we don’t take the time to do so, all kinds of disorders arise.

Wow! Quite an experience I’m sure and one you appreciate more in retrospect I’m guessing. *grin*

Yes, I agree. See this cropping up in people around me (& myself) all the time. It seems like we have to give ourselves permission to slow down and simply be these days. Though I feel the pressure most via my super busy Aries spouse. :D

Scorpio in the 4th isn’t exactly outgoing either! Saturn hasn’t reached my IC yet, but the Sun has moved into my 4th and I am feeling more domestic, wanting to putter in my kitchen and make stews and such. Of course my progressed Sun, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter are in Scorpio/4th house anyway, so nesting in feels pretty right. Just waiting now for Mars to move off my Saturn-Sun square (grrr)…

LOL! I get that in early March. Also the time I’m most likely to get into repainting a room or some such thing. :D

Exactly there today & leaves this weekend.

24 Scorpio Rising here and it is an interesting situation I find myself in….Saturn in my Sun sign Libra gaveme the most difficult three years of my life and now that it has slipped into my 12th house, I find a great need to make my own decisions, work independently and really like it and put myself first for a change. The idea of solitude, physically and mentally is quiite comforting. I was fearful of Saturn transiting the 12th,but with the strength and knowledge I learned from Saturn in Libra, a lot of my fears and worries are gone. My spending habits have gone from “I want” to ‘Do I really need this?”. If this Saturn transit goes well, I will be looking toward Saturn crossing my AC with great anticipation, especially with my natal Venus in the first. Diane, you and I have similar aspects so I always read your personal comments with great interest.

      Hi Linda! :)

Very good news! :D :D Saturn is a genuine game changer for us though not much fun to live with. I know I was very focused and productive during the last Saturn in Scorpio transit. Starting to notice some improvement in energy levels the past day or so now Saturn is moving out of orb with my Sun.
