Yesterday’s New Moon in fixed Scorpio conjunct my natal twelfth house Mars-Mercury conjunction in Scorpio is the reason I’m thinking about what it means to have a preponderance in fixed signs. I may have my Sun and Moon in cardinal Libra with Venus in mutable Sagittarius as my public face but behind the scenes I have the most planets in fixed signs. I do love my routines and find comfort in them.
Those of us with our Mercurys in fixed signs appreciate being given more time to think matters through before making a decision. Unless said Mercury is closely aspected by Uranus we usually process information more slowly than those with Mercury in cardinal or mutable signs. This is one reason many fixed types often say “no” right off the bat and then allow themselves to be talked around later . . . gives them room to think! Having Mercury retrograde in Scorpio right now isn’t going to speed things up either.
If you are a cardinal or mutable type who has to deal with someone with a fixed preponderance, here are some clues:
Taurus, fixed earth, interacts with the world through their senses and if they can’t see it, hear it, taste it or touch it, it is suspect. Nobody can dig in their heels and refuse to budge like the Bull either. Be open, honest and stick to the practical approach.
Leo is fixed fire and has a great deal of pride. Consequently if they feel slighted or unappreciated, it can be very difficult to work with them. Here’s a case where accentuating the positive is helpful.
Fixed water Scorpio can hold a grudge like nobody’s business and will if not treated with respect. If you have a problem with Scorpio, please discuss it with them in private and give them time to process their feelings before asking for an answer.
Last but not least is Aquarius, fixed air. These folks see themselves as innovative and cutting edge in their thinking but once their mind is made up, that’s it. It practically takes an act of god to get them to shift their position. Best time to present your argument is before they’ve made up their minds . . .
This is sort of off topic but deals with a couple of Scorpios in the news. I found this astrologer’s take on Petraeus and Broadwell hit the high points. Sad affair in so many ways and I feel both of them having Mars-Uranus aspects natally (she has Mars-Uranus conjunct in Libra and he has Mars in Cappy opposite Uranus in Cancer) contributed to their downfall. When Mars hooks up with Uranus, the need for experimentation and excitement increases dramatically, interfering with good judgment calls.
Cardinal Signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn
Fixed Signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius
Mutable Signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces
I have a balance between Fixed and Mutable. That being said having a Mercury Retrograde in Virgo, I need to think and process before giving a yes or no. Especially because said Mercury is the tail of a conjunction between Sun, Mars, and Mercury. Having an opposition between the moon in Aquarius and Uranus in Leo also slows my reactions down a bit. However when I loose it, there is a major explosion. Yesterday, I was reminded of Bree Van de Kamp of Desperate Housewives I was struck by how much her Bio came across as being typical Virgo with Taurus Asc. Passionate about the men in her life, sweetly domineering, always in control.

I bet! Uranus-Moon aspects, especially the tense ones, can be unpredictable at best.

Since Leo occupies my natural 4th house, woe to anyone who crosses swords with me over home-related issues. I’ve taken down 3 renovation contractors in this area (bloodlessly, I assure you, but their businesses suffered) who failed to honor the contract or who tried to weasel out of completing the job. I’m sure Scorpio has some influence here as well.

Re: Patreus and Broadwell. Their Suns are conjunct. Powerful identiy between the two. The recent eclipse in Scorpio, conjunct their Suns was the catalyst that brought the hidden affair to light. An eclipse can often end “something” so healing can begin. Scorpios: power, sex, death,rebirth, transformation, other people’s money.
P.S. This eclipse was also on Romney’s Moon in Scorpio. The end of his Presidential hopes!

That eclipse in Scorpio was quite something, eh? Things are blowing up, quite literally in some places, and it seems that things that have been brewing for a while have reached their peak and secrets are being exposed.
I wanted to add, the easiest way to deal with a Taurus or Taurus-influenced person who is in a bad mood and really won’t budge is to just be patient. There is nothing else you can do anyway with stubborn Bull, in fact, trying to make them budge physically or mentally is only going to make them dig their heels in harder and for longer. Source: my strong 1st house Taurus Moon!

LOL! So very, very true! I usually get on quite well with other fixed sign types in part because I understand this exact point.
