Full Moon in Cancer© Diane Lang

My first look at the chart for this Full Moon at 07° 06′ Cancer on 28 December 2012, 02:22 PST made me wince because Pluto in Capricorn conjoins the Sun and Uranus in Aries creates a T-Square with the lunar axis. However after further study I realized this time we may have a window of opportunity to shed light on the issues brought to the surface by the Uranus-Pluto square and perhaps begin to resolve some of those.

We’ve had Venus and the Sun in Libra as well as Mars in Capricorn trigger the Uranus-Pluto square in recent months, and we’ve managed to survive those periods. This time it is the luminaries interceding and they have support from a couple of sources. Saturn in Scorpio is trine the Moon in Cancer and sextile the Capricorn Sun whilst Chiron in Pisces repeats those aspects (Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces are out of orb at this time.)

Saturn at his best is the wise counselor/parent who supports us as we go through the process of learning from our mistakes. Picking us up when we fall, helping heal our wounds, then shoving us back into the fray because the lessons that stay with us are those we’ve learned ourselves. At this time Saturn, Pluto, Chiron and the Luminaries are all in earth and water signs indicating support is more likely to manifest through tangible gestures rather than words of advice. For instance, it may be the parent or teacher who teaches through their actions and by example rather than lectures at length.

The square of Uranus in Aries to the Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer is well within orb and as I see it, Pluto in Capricorn is drawn back into contact with Uranus because it conjoins the Sun. It is possible we may gain some insight into the reasons why we react so strongly to any perceived threat to our independence, going far beyond anything reasonable or rational. Those who tend to suffer from “cut off the nose to spite the face” syndrome often hurt themselves as well as those who love them in those moments of extreme rebellion. Perhaps we are still rebelling against the parental voices in our heads more than anything. It is worth noting those who are most comfortable in their own skins and who have learned how to be their own authority figure are far more likely to respond rather than react.

Jupiter in Gemini is still part of the Yod with Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn and I recommend reading my post on the Winter Solstice to learn more about this significant aspect pattern in effect through the end of 2012.

Mars, newly arrived in detached, airy Aquarius, is sextile Uranus in Aries and semi-sextile Neptune in Pisces. Uranus invigorates Mars whist Neptune often has the opposite effect. In this case the two outer planets may balance each other out and Mars can go about his business with little interference . . . at least until he butts heads with Saturn in Scorpio on 7 January 2013.

Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius are freewheeling on the Full Moon and consequently will be undiluted Sagittarius . . . full of energy, enthusiasm and up for a good time. Laughter is both contagious and seductive with these two free agents. All you fire signs out there enjoy these moments whilst you can because all too soon Mercury will enter dour Capricorn (on New Year’s Eve to be exact).

The degrees most affected are 7° to 9° and if you have personal planets or your Ascendant at those degrees, please take time for introspection. Perhaps this will be a turning point for you on the road to becoming more solid in yourself and therefore less likely to be buffeted about by other people’s dramas. So mote it be . . .

May this Full Moon in Cancer bring opportunities to reconnect with family in a positive way. After all those are the people who we usually spend more time with than anyone else over the course of our lives.

On a personal note: It is my twelfth house Jupiter in Scorpio square ninth house Saturn in Leo most affected this time. The lunar axis falls in my second-eighth houses and I’m guessing financial issues will be on the table. I have no idea whether this will mark a change for the better or worse. *shrug* With Venus still in my first house and Mercury now in my second, it will be easier to stay optimistic . . . foolishly or not!

One good thing is Saturn in Scorpio has moved past the first exact pass squaring my natal Saturn. That happens on Christmas Day . . . nice gift!

Mars in Aquarius conjoins my natal Ceres in the third house and I hope this means it will encourage my efforts to offer support to others through my writing. :D

Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Sounds similar to my chart – I’m a Sag rising too and it’s hitting my 2/8 axis as well.
I’m hoping for positive outcomes for both of us.

I also have Mars in Aquarius in my 3h natally, so looks like I’ll be having my Mars return soon. Yay?

Scorpio rising, but the full moon is hitting my 2/8 houses also. Mars is trining my natal 11th house mercury and sextiling my AC, but the real concern is transiting mars opposing natal Jupiter in 2nd house Cappy. I just applied for a new job…drat!

Hmm, I have the 2/8 axis thing going also and naturally I have finances on the brain. *sigh* My sister-out-law (it’s a joke, she’s not related to me in any way, but my SO’s lesbian step-sister) was pissing and moaning about how hard it is to live on $92K a year with a big house and a kid in private school. I held my tongue–barely. Anyway I was wondering if Jupiter and Saturn are considered personal planets, and I know for sure the outer 3 are transpersonal, so it seems logical. Thanks! :)

transits sun 1st moon 7th mars in 1st and pluto, uranus 2nd and saturn 9th.
I’ve already laid a lot of stuff on the table today hoping that it changes my family relationships for the better. I struggle with christmas with my family pretending to be something I’m not. I can’t do it anymore I’m too old to keep living falsehoods. I really am being forced to transform. Mostly I would hide under the bed, but God and my stars have other plans.
