What treats do we have in store for us this week? For starters, a jolly square between eccentric Mars in Aquarius and hard-nosed Saturn in Scorpio, followed by Venus leaving adventurous Sagittarius for reserved Capricorn and a productive New Moon in Capricorn! It’s time to show up and take responsibility for our actions and our lives, folks. The party is over and now the work begins in earnest.
The week opens with the Mars-Saturn square which will be in effect right up to the New Moon in Capricorn on Friday. Fire and air signs are more likely to be grumbling about this one because their big plans and grand ideas got shot down. Earth and water folk stand a better chance of emerging unscathed and in a far better place to take advantage of the dynamic New Moon. Remember Scorpio is in charge of revisions, reevaluations and transformation, so if you do end up with setbacks be prepared for some hard work with no shortcuts to get back up and going again.
When Venus enters Capricorn on 8-9 January, she will be ready to hang her party dress in the closet and put on her work clothes. Hey, work clothes can be sexy too and a sextile to Neptune in Pisces will help with that. However by the weekend, Venus squares Uranus in Aries and her mood sours. Venus in Capricorn has real issues with those who won’t commit. I mean serious issues as in don’t waste her time even asking her out unless you can say the “M” word without wanting to run out the door.
It is time to look forward instead of back. 2012 is officially over and the world didn’t end so we might as well get back into our work routines. Those holiday bills are going to come due soon, schools are back in session and life goes on. Being productive can be rewarding too . . . ask any card carrying Capricorn!
Your level of frustration this week, Aries, depends in large part on your choices last week. If you decided playing was more important than planning ahead for this week’s activities, then there’s a good chance of extreme frustration. If you did plan ahead, then you’re golden.
On the whole, Taurus, you have probably been profiting from the prevailing energies but this week may start off with you feeling caught in between serious career demands and meeting the needs of your partner. Not an enviable place to be. Do your best!
By now you should have adjusted to being back at work, Gemini, and all but if you haven’t, start now! It helps your mind is working clearly and efficiently for a change. This is a great time to review your investments with a professional.
This week the focus is almost entirely on those people with whom you have one-on-one relationships, Cancer. The best approach for you is to prepare to listen carefully to what they have to say because it may have a big impact on your future together.
It is possible, Leo, you may have to juggle a demanding partner and the needs of your parents this week. In the interest of preserving your sanity during this, please do your best to stick to healthy eating habits and daily routines.
Virgo, one of your better things is being able to handle the quirks of coworkers though right now you may wish to cheerfully strangle them! Particularly since what you really would love to do is devote more time to pleasurable pursuits . . . not placate prima donnas.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve done much to spruce up your living space, Libra, this week may find you looking around and considering what you can do to brighten it up. The catch may be your budget. Time to be creative!
Getting into it with the person who is fixing your house is not a good plan, Scorpio, especially if you want this done before spring. You can be tactful if necessary and now is a good time to practice. Arguing with family isn’t productive either.
Like Aries, the way your week starts may have plenty to do with last week’s activities, Sagittarius. If you promised far more than you are able to deliver now, you may have some serious apologizing to do. For your sake, let’s hope not!
This is power week for you, Capricorn! You are the person with the plan that’s going to succeed and you know it. The only possible glitch may have to do with unexpected expenses . . . otherwise this week looks very good for you.
It is up to you, Aquarius, whether your stand on principles works in your favor with your boss. Be very careful how you prepare your defense and please remember it is those behind the scenes with the real clout. Practice patience thru all this.
Pisces, your social consciousness may emerge full force this week and you could find yourself offering to help out in any way you can. Thankfully you will have plenty of help because many of your peers and associates will be thrilled to join in the fun.

Keep telling yourself how beautiful everything will look when it’s all wrapped up. And, yes, it is often those small cosmetic details that are super time consuming.

Well, I tell you I feel like a mountain goat picking its way along a narrow path. On one side is solid rock, on the other, an abyss. I think if I didn’t have strong Saturn as Cap’s ruler, *and* Jupiter in Cap in the 8th, I would be really frightened by now. As it was, the full Moon in Cancer really did a number on me: I was hyperventilating and panicking about everything including the money involved, and a bunch of SN Cancer/home things were triggered as well. Unpleasant.
So, it’s a big risk… I think will pay off in the end because it’s intended for the long-term and I think in terms of years and with great practicality.

Thanks Diane for the post I’m in need of. I’m an early Capricorn (5 degrees) and I made a complete mess of my intimate relationship over the holiday season. Although I am a Capricorn I have a Libra stellium in my fifth house and my scorpio intimate was not impressed. I’m putting the blame on venus in Sagittarius for ramping up my ‘love everyone’ mode. Scorp did his worst, lots of nuclear fallout, tears and broken hearts. I simply cannot have affection for any others in my scorp’s book, even the universal kind and he ‘knows’ when I have. It’s very hard because my heart can sort out the differences in intimacy and there is simply no one more special than him. However, he can’t live with me showing affection and with a Libra stellium I love to show love. I hope Venus in Capricorn will help me to salvage our beautiful love from the ashes.

Venus in Sagittarius does love to flit and flirt & with a Libra stellium in your 5th, I can see you enjoying being the life of the party. Scorpio is not noted for “sharing” unless it’s their idea either. Hopefully Venus in Cappy will increase your appeal & draw your Scorpio back to you. Do you two have ground rules in place regarding what each of you feels comfortable with when socializing? Something else Scorpio does not do well is trust & regaining his may take some time.

Thank you kindly for your reply Diane. The ground rules are scorpio’s without compromise. I find this almost impossible to maintain. I have natal venus in aquarius (oh dear) and she does find these rules totalitarian, even inhumane. I do my best but when not I pay the price with the frozen Scorpio sulk. He’s trying his best to be compromising and ‘flexible’ at the moment but that steel grimace of his is telling me something else!I’ve thrown away my Christmas party dress and I think he’s defrosting but I’m going to have to wait – hopefully before venus floats into aquarius!
