Observations: Oh So Conventional Venus in Capricorn

Sun in Capricorn but Venus in eccentric Aquarius!

Sun in Capricorn but Venus in eccentric Aquarius!

After dashing around in sporty Sagittarius, Venus is now in calm, earthy Capricorn for the next three and half weeks. Capricorn may not be Venus’s favorite place to visit but she does appreciate this sign’s sense of style, often classic and understated. Even though Venus does understand Capricorn’s need to adhere to societal conventions, she can feel confined by all those rules.

In natal charts, Venus in Capricorn can team up with Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces Suns. Water and earth are natural allies so Venus in Capricorn helps intense Scorpio step back from the brink and choose the sensible option whilst she helps keep romantic Pisces from sacrificing all for Love. However Venus in Capricorn is less comfortable with fiery Sagittarius and intellectual Aquarius.

My younger sister has her Sun in Sagittarius with Venus conjoined the Moon in conventional Capricorn. When we were in our twenties, she was very disapproving of how I handled my love life. My overly romantic Libra Moon-Neptune conjunction and open-minded Venus in Sagittarius had no problem ignoring the societal rules of the times. I followed my heart and lived openly with my boyfriend in our small college town. My sister, on the other hand, followed the rules and married in her early twenties. She has been much happier with me since I got married and settled down. Of course it doesn’t hurt my Aries husband and I have a Capricorn Sun, Venus and Rising in our composite chart! We are the picture of a traditional married couple. *grin*

For some reason, I have dealt with very, very few Aquarius Suns with Venus in Capricorn. Those Aquarius who choose to consult with me tend to have Venus in Pisces . . . probably because of my chart’s water-air bias. What I have noticed is Venus in Capricorn reins in some of Aquarius’ more extreme fashion quirks and gives them a more polished, professional appearance.

Sun and Venus in Capricorn natally can be great for aging gracefully. Dolly Parton and Diane Keaton come to mind, both classics in their own way and both with Sun conjunct Venus in Capricorn. These are hard working ladies and we’re all the same age!

Some other takes on Venus in Capricorn include a great post from Pippa Ponton, Venus in Capricorn, Picture Perfect Symbols of Success.

I’ve just been getting into composite charts. My hubby and I have Scorpio Sun, Scorpio moon and Capricorn rising. I kind of feel like it’s the Morticia and Gomez Addams composite chart haha

LOL! I bet your marriage will endure too. Scorpio is a fixed sign after all. :)

Venus may be happy in Capricorn, but not so happy with Saturn hanging around her. I was wondering yesterday why I was feeling so blah when I noticed that transiting Saturn was sitting exactly to the minute on my progressed Venus, so maybe that was at least part of it. My relationship is feeling just fine, though, so I figure Saturn must be happy with it. And transiting Venus in Cap is making a nice trine to my natal Venus, so can’t be all bad!

      Hey Les!

Yeah, nothing like Saturn aspecting Venus by transit to flatten the mood. And as you are probably aware Neptune is closing in on 2° again . . . I have been having trouble concentrating again (tNeptune in the 3rd) & am blaming Neptune. Awareness does help w/Neptune I have found.

Enjoy the Venus in Cap trine!

Just thought I’d leave a little note for Aquarius Sun w/ Capricorn Venus :) Yes, I’d say it *definitely* tightens the reins of appearances. “Quirky” in no way makes it into my wardrobe :-p I’ve also never sported the purple mohawk which one author once suggested Aquarius might be more prone to! (Though, with Leo rising, I have done a few stand out things to my hair. In the end, I’m much happier with its natural color and an easy, flattering style.) I feel my Venus placement in Capricorn also tempers my personality in general, though my Moon in Cappy no doubt adds considerable weight. I’m much more security driven than I’m told an Aquarius ought to be. I p-l-a-n (shhh!!). I’m happiest when Cappy needs are met and tend to relegate Aqua needs (namely independence) to secondary in importance.
    Love your post!

Naturally I’m very pleased to learn this! :D Leo Rising can be forgiven for tending to the “mane”, since they usually have an excellent one. :)

  • Thank you once again Diane for your endorsement! Venus whilst not exactly happy-in-cappy at least looks the part with such beautiful (venus) bone structure (saturn) lol!

      Hi Pippa!

Do love the good “bones” Venus in Capricorn can bless one with. :D Great selection of photos! Brad Pitt is more attractive now than he was at thirty IMO.
