Observations: An Equinox to Remember!

Mars conjunct Uranus in Aries . . .

Mars conjunct Uranus in Aries . . .

Next week is the Spring Equinox on 20 March here in the northern latitudes (Autumnal in the southern) and it is a dynamic one! The transition from watery Pisces into the ultimate fire sign Aries is jolting at best and this year even more so. The Sun enters Aries with Mars conjoining Uranus in Aries (exact on 22 March at 8° Aries) inspiring the need for Action with a capital ‘A’.

The new zodiacal year begins when the Sun leaves the dreamscapes of Pisces for the bright morning of Aries. Those of us who prefer to wake up slowly tend to resent bright-eyed morning person Aries who has no respect for sleepy heads. I am all too familiar with this scenario because I’m a twelfth house person who lives with a very Aries husband who wakes up bright and early. This year’s wakeup call is harsher than some because we have been living with so many planets in dreamy Pisces for the past several weeks including retrograde Mercury in Pisces. Small wonder we don’t want to leave our warm cozy beds.

Helping us sleepy heads out are a number of planets in water signs including Venus in Pisces conjoining the Aries Sun, Moon in Cancer trine newly direct Mercury in Pisces, Neptune in Pisces and providing the most ballast, Saturn in Scorpio trine the Cancer Moon. All of these influences counsel the need for kind words, generous gestures and heaps of patience to offset the demands of the Mars-Uranus conjunction.

It is the Cancer Moon under the most pressure from Mars and Uranus in Aries. What this says to me is feelings will be hurt due to thoughtless, impulsive behaviors. Aries can be rather self-centered and Mars conjunct Uranus is far more likely to encourage selfish behaviors than considerate ones. This combo wants what it wants and it wants it NOW. By the way, rash erratic actions can lead to accidents so please take a few moments to think before leaping, OK?

The annoying Yod with Jupiter in Gemini at the apex and Saturn in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn as the base is back in play on the Equinox. Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, makes a waxing square to Jupiter unleashing the potential for hasty words. With Saturn and Pluto anchoring Jupiter, the best route forward is to make sure you have done your homework before launching new projects. If you want to secure your funding, make damn sure you have all your ducks in a row. All the fast talk and fancy footwork will not impress those who hold the purse-strings but careful preparation will.

The chart for the Equinox sets the tone until the Solstice and even with Sun, Mars and Uranus in fiery Aries there are still more planets in earth and water signs. Choose considerate, thoughtful behaviors over rash impulsive ones to make the next three months more tolerable. It never hurts to practice patience and tolerance either. Good luck!

Talking about sleepy heads, We are Libra parents with 2 boys, Aries and Pisces. I wake up first at 6am and wake up my boys for school. My Aries wakes up first and 15- 20 min later comes my Pisces for breakfast but he his out the door way before my Aries boy, it’s so funny. I’ll ask them how does this happen?? They answer: “it’s a mystery”
I have my Sun in first house but my husband, who has his Sun in the 12 th, is out of bed may be around 10am. And that’s late in my books :)
By the way, both boys are Rising Libras.
Question: Does Yod always represent something annoying?
    Thanks

      Hi Alden!

Perhaps your Pisces son is more organized and less distracted. Even though I’m not a morning person I am usually on time as long as my routine is not interrupted. *grin*

Does Yod always represent something annoying?

Pretty much. Yods are composed of two inconjuncts from the base planets to the apex planet. Inconjuncts mean the signs involved have little to no common ground so are invariably out of sync. In this instance, Gemini is inconjunct Scorpio & Capricorn, both signs who agree Gemini is flighty and inconsistent by their standards. :D

  • Oh I wish I had more of that sleep thing going on, my routine is shot at the moment, with all of this going on. My Aries is snoring a lot too, as he is exhausted, so that doesn’t help a great deal. Hopefully the change of season will help a little *fingers crossed*

re tweet: I cooked all day yesterday, fabulous way to spend a Taurus Moon

Cooking desserts goes well under a Taurus Moon. My cookies and the pie came out quite well! :D

Exhausted and snoring do go together all right. Here’s to less stress in your lives soonest.

      • Well, it lasted until last night, when another 4.30 start resulted in a hamburger being slid across to the kids lol One thing I do incredibly badly is cook when I am tired! Well, according to our cards this week, Ramzoid and I shall have an improved energy flow (thank goodness), echoed by my 7 day lenormand personal read. The Tower is a good card, but sadly missing from ‘those’ readings back in the day. Would have certainly loved that heads up, that’s for sure.

Ha, my Aries is still asleep after 10:00 this morning, which is not uncommon! I’m always up before him (which gives me my puttering time in the morning on weekends), ready for my mid-morning snack when I make him breakfast. Maybe it’s because he’s a very late Aries. ;-) With my Moon-Uranus on the Ascendant and all my Virgo, my sensitive nervous system often doesn’t let me sleep well. Morning light seeping in behind my room-darkening drapes often wakes me (sigh). I was happy to change the clocks ahead and push that early light up a little. That said, it’ll be good to have some fire and Mercury direct to get work moving forward again after a slow first quarter.

Is his Sun in the 12th or any house below the horizon except the 1st? My Aries has his Sun in the first house . . .

Yes, I can see where following all the suggestions for getting quality sleep would be needed. Those times when my Mercury-Uranus inconj is tweaked I too have trouble sleeping and keep my room dark as a matter of course.

Mercury goes direct tomorrow and will be starting to move forward by mid-week. Great for you Virgos & Geminis! :)

Yup, his Aries Sun is in the 3rd house. I imagine Aries 1st house would be uber Aries!

If it wasn’t for him having Venus in Pisces trine Mars in Scorpio + a Saturn-Neptune conj in Libra opposing his Aries Mercury-Moon-Jupiter, it would be far worse. Being older helps too . . . can’t imagine what he must have been like in his 20′s. LOL
