Gemini

Gemini

© Pat Brennan

Gemini’s duality makes its self felt on this New Moon in Gemini at 18° 01′ on 8 June 2013, 08:57 AM PDT. On one side is a cardinal T-Square with Mercury in Cancer locked in conflict with Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn; on the other is a marvelous Grand Trine composed of Venus in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces.

Words may be the weapon of choice on this lunation. Mercury in Cancer is just as capable of slicing and dicing opponents as Mercury in Scorpio and is far more likely to be the aggressor . . . Cancer is a cardinal sign after all. Squared by the even more aggressive Uranus in Aries those words could turn bitter indeed. Pluto in Capricorn is capable of fueling suspicions and dark undercurrents. This influence will be particularly potent for those with personal planets and Angles from 10° to 11° in the cardinal signs. If you have been suppressing anger, resentment and hostility it could come spewing out when you least expect it. Check your internal closets, people!

It is to be hoped the lovely Grand Trine with Venus, Saturn and Neptune will help offset the belligerence of the T-Square. Grand Trines don’t push at us like T-Squares. They ease the atmosphere, smoothing the wrinkles and sharp edges. Saturn’s presence will provide grounding and structure, perhaps enough to give direction to Venus and Neptune. Saturn is also the handle planet of a Bucket Pattern in this chart giving him an even stronger presence. Venus in Cancer brings a kindly, sympathetic presence and Neptune in Pisces is THE wellspring of compassion. Please support this side, OK?

Mars in Gemini is not going to be much help. He is snipping at Venus in Cancer via a semi-sextile, irritating the heck out of Saturn in Scorpio (they’re inconjunct) and due to a square to Neptune in Pisces has no sense of direction. In other words, Mars is a mess. This is not a terribly effective placement for Mars because Gemini forces him to scatter his attention in many different directions, unlike Aries who focuses Mars like a laser beam. People are going to angry and want to do something but may end up extremely frustrated because they can’t figure out where to start. I suggest you find the nearest competent Aries and beg for help! :D

The luminaries are off dancing by themselves with some distant support from Jupiter in Gemini. Gemini is in the information dissemination business and this New Moon is a good time to get the word out on your latest innovations and projects. The challenge will be to keep your presentation clean, simple and direct without piling on excess verbiage. This is a far better time to do a rough draft than final editing.

My advice for this Gemini New Moon is make love, not war. Choose to focus on what brings us together rather than what divides us. Draw on Jupiter in Gemini’s good humor and way with words to reduce the tension and encourage those around us to enjoy life. Peace and goodwill, that’s the ticket!

On a personal note: I plan on being one of those spreading peace and goodwill! The luminaries are trine my peace loving Libra Moon, Jupiter in Gemini is making a waxing trine to my Sun-Chiron in Libra and Venus in Cancer is exactly trine my twelfth house Jupiter in Scorpio. The annoying planets are generally leaving me alone except for Mars in Gemini inconjunct my Jupiter from the seventh house . . . probably my Aries spouse doing his thing. Sweet!

Hmph. The New Moon squares my Sun and opposes my Saturn. Probably not a good thing! It also sextiles my pLunar Return going on. At least the cardinal square continues to avoid any of my planets and angles. Mars will square my Venus/Pluto, too, although beginning to pass. Think I’ll just keep my head down and try to enjoy my pSun/pJupiter conjunction!

      Hey Les!

Think I’ll just keep my head down and try to enjoy my pSun/pJupiter conjunction!

Sounds like a plan to me! :) The New Moon creating a T-Square w/your Sun makes me think you’d like to get out and socialize but don’t feel like you can afford it for one reason or another. Simple pleasures maybe? BTW, the photos you take and the observations you make on Twitter make me think you are someone who takes deep pleasure in the small beauties in life. Wonderful place to live in my opinion. :D

All I care about right now is that my 5 degree Uranus in Cancer 8th house and 5 degree Mercury in 11th house Libra are out of the 10-11 degree orb. I haven’t felt this good since 2009 and I’m looking forward to Jupiter transiting my 8th, conjuncting my natal Uranus and this summers Grand Water Trine.

Today Mercury conjoins your Uranus & it is Venus’s turn on Friday, connecting you to the Grand Trine. Trial run so to speak! :D

Thank you Diane! I am on holiday from the office until Wednesday next, the sun is shining and it is glorious. Pottering about, listening to spirit feels so good – it’s been too long since I’ve done so. All in all I am cleaning out my internal closets :-. Timing is everything!
    Much love,
    Deirdre

      Hi Deirdre!

Wonderful! You deserve some down time. Still lots of activity in your tenth though Mercury & Venus will both have slipped into your 11th by next weekend. :)

Hmm, this lunation just a degree shy of my natal Saturn. That means both luminaries are within that degree. Maybe Saturn will act as a lid on my tongue.

Heh, doubt it! :D Your first house is a busy place this week w/Mars crossing your ASC on Wednesday and the Sun + Jupiter still there!

For me, “make love not war” is completely tied to Libra, because John Lennon was a Libra! (don’t we all love him? except for one crucial person, who loved him so much, he ended up hating him).
But! Reading through your story of the Gemini New Moon, for the first time I have got the feeling it is ‘already happening’ (most of the time I am slow, Cappy ;-) but this painful word-thing (Mercury in Cancer in the t-square), just this morning I let a lot of poisonous words about my parents out. Thankfully, on paper :-) I really felt like letting out poison. About karma my parents didn’t work out, so now my brother and me have it as an ‘extra’. Not completely grudgy, just trying to describe it, put it down as it is, and therefore dissolving it. The painful words about parents (Merc in Cancer opp Pluto), trying to stop the pain paradoxically by letting them out into the world (Saturn in Scorpio!), to finally letting it dissolve (I guess Neptune in Pisces, in a good way). T-square probably not really damaging to me, too used to it. But the big Water trine, which I can see already working here, had not even begun, so if this is the start of it, how big can it get?! Anyhow, it is satisfying. Finally I can write, and I don’t care anymore what it’s about or if it’s publishable, oh no, it is just the doing of it!
So, to get back to the beginning (I say this a lot, guess it is my Cap-Aqu combo ;-) start to go back, go back to start) of my comment:
I think this time it is not about “Make love, not war”, but because of Gemini: “Speak love, not war” of “Write love, not war” :-)

      Hi Brex!

Writing is a great way to facilitate catharsis of old wounds. Perhaps because the act of writing is physical, whether typing or putting pen to paper. Nor does it seem necessary to have any else read what we’ve written . . . probably a good thing in most cases! *grin*

Your Chiron is also part of a T-Square with Venus opp Saturn as the base . . . a whole lot of “not good enough” in need of catharsis. Chiron-Venus aspects are better at making others feel loved but not so good at appreciating one’s self. Keep chipping your old self image away so the newer, brighter version can emerge! :D

Ps: ah, sextile my chiron at 20 degr Aries. It IS healing :-)

  • Brex

Thanks Diane :-) I don’t know if it has something to do with the Watertrine, but I get a lot of messages (from people I know, and people I don’t really know!) that I should appreciate myself more, that I am more than I think I am, that I have a lot to offer, and so on! I am starting to think my ‘block’ is called Perfectionism. Another astrologer called it performance anxiety. So, from now on i’ll try not to block myself and just follow my impulses, especially in writing! Ps: funny how important Chiron seems to be!

    • Diane L

Chiron can have quite an impact when closely aspecting the personal planets. Dealing with his issues takes time and awareness. *sigh* Most of us with these aspects have far, far more to offer than we realize too. Good luck with this! :)
