A curiously refreshing New Moon at 10° 39′ Pisces on March 1, 2014 12:00 AM PST which is far better suited to exploring our inner landscape than rushing out to conquer the outer world. The sky has undergone a sea change since the Full Moon in Leo and we are back under water once more.
The heart of this New Moon is a loose stellium in Pisces which includes Neptune, the Sun, Moon and Chiron. Pisces teaches us to be inclusive rather than exclusive and how doing so enriches our lives. However we need to consciously focus on summoning our better angels with Neptune on board and choose to embrace compassion for all, including ourselves. Chiron in Pisces offers everyone a chance to begin the process of bringing an end to their suffering. After all, suffering in and of its self is not inherently noble. This is a good opportunity to learn the difference between genuine and false humility . . . a truly humble person has no need to draw attention to themselves.
The New Moon in Pisces has powerful support from a Pluto in Capricorn sextile and trine from big-hearted Jupiter in Cancer. It is time to go with the flow rather than battling against it. Meditate, go on retreat, take up a low key physical activity such as Tai Chi or Hatha Yoga, go on long walks by the water, etc. This is great time to learn how to slow down in order to live a longer, healthier life. If you are one of many, many people living in an area with too much water falling from the sky as snow or rain and have been forced to curtail your activities as a result, maybe it is the Universe’s way of enforcing this message.
If you are feeling like your life is on pause now it is probably because four planets are at a virtual standstill, either preparing to station retrograde or having just stationed direct on the New Moon. Mercury in Aquarius goes direct at 18° the day before the New Moon while Mars in Libra and Saturn in Scorpio will station retrograde within the following twenty four hours. Jupiter in Cancer is slowing to station direct on March 6 at 10° still forming a waning square to Uranus in Aries. Mars will be at 27° Libra until March 11, Saturn at 23° Scorpio until March 22 and Jupiter at 10° until March 24. Mercury will be back up to speed a week after the New Moon, something we can be grateful for. So relax already!
Those who will chafe the most under the current stasis are those with personal planets in the cardinal signs at 10° due to the waning square between Jupiter in Cancer and Uranus in Aries. This square has been a driving force for taking immediate action regardless of the consequences in recent weeks. Use this slowdown to take a good look around and figure out the reasons behind the need for speed. Knowing those reasons will come in very handy in April when this square merges with Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn into a Grand Cross.
Venus in Capricorn is finally moving ahead at her normal pace. She is dancing quietly with Saturn in Scorpio via a waning sextile. A more exciting aspect is the waxing square to Mars in Libra, exact on March 2. In this case, it might be better to behave with decorum and only air your grievances with your lover in private. Libra, Scorpio and Capricorn all prefer to keep their love lives private and express their passion behind closed doors out of the public eye.
Mercury in Aquarius is traveling free from other influences right now and this should help us maintain a degree of mental clarity. With everything else going on, we can use all the help we can get to find perspective and that is something Aquarius is capable of delivering.
Celebrate this Pisces New Moon by taking at least a few moments to sit in silence and follow your breath. Solitude can be a beautiful thing and now is the perfect time to experience it again. Namaste.
On a personal note: I have a Chiron theme for this New Moon. Chiron in Pisces is exactly conjunct my IC, Mars in Libra is stationing on my natal Chiron and Venus in Capricorn is squaring my Chiron. Huh. I’m either going to be getting further lessons on how to deal with my own vulnerabilities or spending a great deal of time listening to other people’s woes.
On a more positive note, Venus in Capricorn is closely sextile my Ascendant, so at least I will be looking good thru all of this.
