Observations: Solar Return for 20th Anniversary

We celebrated our twentieth wedding anniversary this week and when I looked at the Solar Return chart, I saw the exact Sun-Saturn conjunction in Libra staring back at me. It really is a good fit for us with our composite Sun in Capricorn trine Saturn. Our whole relationship is well grounded with a decidedly practical bent.

And what did we do to celebrate our anniversary? We took a drive in country to deliver materials to the jobsite where my Ram will be working next, stopped at Subway on the way back for lunch because we like their sandwiches and I can eat them with no problem. You know you’re getting old when how well you can digest the food takes precedence over everything. LOL

The Sun-Saturn conjunction also conjoins Juno, the marriage asteroid and I see this as a good indicator for our marriage continuing to do well in the year ahead. Thankfully Uranus is not a player either by opposing the Libra planets or squaring Pluto. The Moon conjunct Jupiter in Taurus is happy and comfortable, a very good sign for us continuing to enjoy each other’s company at home. Venus conjoins Mercury in Scorpio, good for discussing personal issues as a couple as long we remember to respect each other’s privacy, something underscored by the sextile to Pluto in Capricorn.

I can hope the favorable connection to Venus from the trine between Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn will bless us with improved finances in the months ahead too. Along with many, many other people we have been living with great frugality the past couple of years. Last year’s Solar Return had the Moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn in the second house squared by Saturn in Libra . . . serious belt tightening times. This year’s Return finds our mortgage paid in full! Yay!

Heh, my own Solar Return is just around the corner and Saturn is within shouting distance of my Sun and Juno in Libra exactly conjoins it! I’ll have some thoughts on that here soon. :D

Observations: Miss Pisces & the Taurus Boy

© Diane Lang

Can’t resist posting this photo of my grandchildren who met for the first time today. They are sooo cute together and have some wonderful synastry – her 0° Pisces Sun is exactly trine his 0° Cancer Moon and his 0° Pisces Neptune exactly conjunct her Sun.

She still will have the upper hand though because her Saturn in Leo is trine his Aries Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter and square his Taurus Sun. :D

I am amazed at how calm this Taurus boy is. The only time he fusses is when he’s hungry. Dirty diapers, loud noises, bright lights barely cause a ripple. We all took turns packing him around and as long as we feed him on demand, he was cool. Adorable!

Observations: Taurus Grandson has arrived!

© Tatyana Okhitina | Dreamstime.com

My Taurus grandson arrived last Friday about a week after his due date . . . leave it to Taurus to take his own sweet time. Not only that the boy is already eating far more than the usual newborn with absolutely no problems!!

I’m going to enjoy watching this child charge through life with his eight planets in cardinal signs. He has the five planets in Aries with Mercury conjunct Venus, Mars conjunct Jupiter and Uranus in Aries squaring his zero degree Cancer Moon. Speaking of his Cancer Moon, it is trine Neptune in Pisces and opposed by Pluto in Capricorn.

The thing is his preponderance in cardinal signs is partially camouflaged by a reserved Scorpio Rising and his placid Taurus Sun. I bet he will surprise more than a few people in the years to come because he is going to be a self-starter of the first order.

Everyone I’ve ever known with a Mars-Jupiter conjunction has had tremendous physical endurance and this combo in Aries is pretty much super-charged. It is already obvious he is blessed with a strong constitution. Unlike my Pisces pixie who rushed into the world six weeks early and had to spend a week in a neo-natal unit, Mr. Taurus is one sturdy fellow. We anticipate by the time he is a year old he will outweigh her four year old self and probably be eating three or four times as much food.

The synastry between his chart and mine says he is my grandson. We share a chart wheel for starters with all the house cusps within a few degrees – Scorpio Rising with Virgo Midheaven. We have a wonderful Moon-Jupiter intra-aspect, a Sun-Mars intra-aspect and a lively Venus-Uranus intra-aspect. Yeah, we’ll have fun together!

He and his granddad share the cardinal preponderance and an abundance of Aries planets. Since they both have Jupiter in Aries and grandson’s Venus-Mercury in Aries conjoins granddad’s Moon, they will be an unstoppable team. I’m bracing myself mentally starting now . . .

His Saturn in Libra conjoins his mom’s Ascendant, squares her Cappy Moon and is trine her Gemini Sun which says to me this child will definitely bring a large measure of stability and responsibility into her life. No surprise because children tend to do that.

What may be more challenging for mother and son are aspects involving Pluto. They both have Moon-Pluto aspects natally, she has a square and he the opposition. Then his Pluto conjoins her Moon and this aspect will prompt her to take a long look at her control issues in the years ahead. I see Pluto’s influence in the birth process too – the baby had to be induced and after he was born, the OB needed to manually remove part of the placenta. Mom has to be very careful in monitoring the normal postpartum bleeding for unusual clots, etc.

Dad will have to fight not to spoil his son because his Jupiter in Taurus exactly conjoins his boy’s Sun as part of an intra-aspect (son’s Jupiter square his dad’s Sun). Dad’s Saturn in Pisces is trine his boy’s Cancer Moon and that says “parent”. However, it will be mom who sets the boundaries and reins in her cardinal boy’s impulses . . . FIRMLY!!!

Welcome to the world, baby Taurus!! :D :D

Observations: A Moon in Cancer Thanksgiving Day

Here in the good ‘ole US of A we celebrate Thanksgiving Day on  the fourth Thursday of November and this year the Moon will be in family oriented Cancer for that occasion.

The family members I expect for the big meal include my Cancer Sun father, my Scorpio sister with Cancer Moon, Mars, Saturn and Rising, my Cancer Sun brother-in-law and my younger sister who has her Moon in Cancer’s complement, Capricorn. Thankfully I can draw on my progressed Sun, Mars and Ascendant in Capricorn to deal with all that Cancer energy.

In honor of the event, I’m not only doing most of the cooking but dug out the family sterling silverware from the back of a cupboard where it’s been sitting practically since the last time my mom had us over for T-Day. My progressed Capricorn Sun is showing up more all the time and coaxing me to practice the niceties for special holiday gatherings.

Get this! The Moon in Cancer is the handle of a Bucket pattern emphasizing its importance even more and over the course of the day it will form aspects with several planets. It starts out with an inconjunct to Mars in Sagittarius making it sooo hard to get out of bed but once you are up and cooking that turkey, the Moon trine Jupiter kicks in. However, a series of inconjuncts from the Moon to Mercury, Neptune and Chiron could mean lots of family squabbles at the dinner table or guests arriving late. Another nice trine to Uranus in Pisces will help you scoot family out the door before the final aspect – Moon in Cancer square Venus in Libra. Maybe you over ate?! **grin**

When the Moon rolls into Leo, we will all heave a sigh of relief and be very, very thankful another family Thanksgiving is behind us. Having lots of good leftovers to eat over the next few days is worth celebrating too.

Mercury in Sagittarius square Jupiter in Pisces sets the overall tone for the day and I don’t doubt there will be lots of raised voices, either yelling at the ball games on TV or yelling at other family members because they are annoying the holy heck out of you. No one quite like our nearest and dearest for knowing exactly which buttons to push, is there?

Have a wonderful T-Day and do take time to count your blessings. It’s been a tough year for many, many people and those of us whose families have been there for us have a great deal to be thankful for. :D

Update 11-24-10: My younger sister and her husband have decided not to brave the weather and are staying home for Thanksgiving Day. Looks like Moon in Cancer won the argument with the travel loving Sagittarius Sun this year, at least in our family . . . :)

I currently live in the old family home where we all grew up AND where my dad grew up, so this is truly home for him.

Observations: Miss Zero Aries Moon

On the lighter side, last weekend we enjoyed a visit with our three year old granddaughter who has a 0° Aries Moon which means Uranus in Aries is currently exactly conjoining it!

While I seldom discuss astrological matters with my extended family because most of them aren’t interested or believe in astrology, it is always fascinating to observe how everyone is being affected by what’s going on in the sky. So when Uranus in Aries is conjoining the Moon of a three year old and she is running around on the hyper side, it is no surprise.

Nor is it a surprise to see her parents (Saturn opposing said Uranus in Aries) stepping in frequently to remind her to practice her manners and remember to say “please” and “thank you”. They are both looking a bit harried though because she is either asleep or in motion zipping all over the place under this influence.

She loves visiting our home because there is soooo much to see and experience outdoors and like her Aries Moon granddad, she is happiest running free over the grass. Plus we lease our pasture in the summer so we have horses to look at and pet, very exciting stuff.

Saturn in Libra will be opposing Miss Aries Moon this summer but once it moves past zero degrees, it will lighten up on her. Since both parents have Pluto in Libra, Saturn will be conjoining their Plutos while opposing her dad’s Aries Sun and conjoining mom’s Ascendant over the next couple of years . . . learning more about the responsibilities of being parents perhaps? :)

As astrologers, one thing we can do is track personal empirical data for the cardinal cross in small digestible bits as a reminder life is not always about catastrophic headlines. Faaaar too much of that going on for this Libra’s comfort right now, so I’m keeping my focus close to home and in the now.

Image: This is an old gentle Arabian mare who was content to let us pet her while the little one was perched on top of her.
