Lots to ponder today! The Scorpio Full Moon with its dynamic fixed T-Square is the main feature but we still have Mercury opposite Saturn to contend with and a waxing Sun-Jupiter square. Talking it out may not be the best option because of Mercury’s situation and Scorpio’s natural reticence won’t help either. One solution might be retreating within to do some serious internal housecleaning, then focusing on letting go of fixed positions. Whenever fixed signs clash the possibility of ending up cutting off the nose to spite the face is very real. Step back and breathe through this day.
The other side of the story has to do with those people who seldom take a firm stand, either out of a desire to please others or being able to see too many options. If this sounds familiar, use today’s powerful fixed signature to draw your personal line in the sand and stand up for what you know is in your best interests. I live somewhere in between Libra’s need for peace and Scorpio’s strong beliefs. It can get a little odd in here at times.
On the whole this week seems reasonably calm and that is in keeping with the Taurus Sun’s preferences, especially the first half of the week. One significant change in store this week and that is Mercury returning to its home sign of Gemini on Thursday!
We are all blessed by Taurus Sun-Neptune in Pisces sextile on Wednesday. This is a beautiful, life enhancing aspect rich with imagination and compassion. It can inspire us to take practical actions on behalf of those in need of aid. This aspect brings Habit for Humanity to mind with its program for working with people to build their new homes. Sweat equity counts this week. Help out in your community garden or volunteer to help keep your neighborhood park clean.
Mars in Taurus and Venus in Gemini form aspects to Chiron in Pisces on Tuesday. A loving touch can soothe (Mars sextile Chiron) while flirting with the wrong person can be deeply wounding (Venus square Chiron). Please remember to behave in a thoughtful, respectful manner towards loved ones now and every day.
Bright spot this week for air signs is Mercury zipping into its home sign, Gemini. Mercury sparkles here, dashing about collecting tidbits of information and talking to anyone who will listen. This is a great time to spread your ideas far and wide. However Mercury does face a roadblock on Sunday when it is opposed by Saturn in Sagittarius. Frustration may result from being unable to find the right words, a Mercury in Gemini specialty. It is an excellent time to practice clarifying your thoughts before speaking.
The Moon travels from Leo to Scorpio this week. Monday finds the Leo Moon void-of-course most of the day before entering Virgo during the evening. Tuesday and Wednesday are both very good for staying on task and doing detail intensive work. Virgo enjoys creating order from other people’s chaos . . . for which we should all be very grateful. Once the Moon enters Libra on Thursday we may find ourselves devoting more time to our relationships. Friday the Libra Moon has to deal with Pluto and Uranus. This should prove less stressful and more in keeping with typical lunar mood swings. Saturday is the best weekend day to spend time relaxing with your sweetie. The Libra Moon goes void-of-course sextile Venus in Gemini, perfect for long, aimless conversations with your lover. The Moon slides into Scorpio Saturday evening and Sunday brings the rich, intense Full Moon in Scorpio.
There is no better time to celebrate the mysteries and dive into the sweet darkness with joyful abandon than the Full Moon in Scorpio. This year this Full Moon at 13° 23′ Scorpio falls on 3 May 2015, 8:42 PDT and creates a very tight T-Square with dramatic Jupiter in Leo. Joyful abandon indeed!
There is nothing particularly ethereal about this particular Full Moon. It is firmly grounded in the tangible world where what matters is what we can feel, taste, hear and smell. Scorpio is concerned with very real issues like birth, death and regeneration. Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto, is trine the Taurus Sun and sextile the Scorpio Moon. The harmonious aspects say we can choose how deep we wish to be drawn into exploring the quiet, dark corners of our inner selves instead of being thrown into the deep end to sink or swim. Neptune in Pisces has an important role too since it is trine the Moon and sextile the Sun. A wonderful way to spend this Full Moon is taking part in some type of spiritual retreat. Time spent meditating can be particularly fruitful on this Full Moon.
The T-Square with Jupiter in Leo looks like one that may not be easy to manage. Fixed sign T-Squares seldom are because no one is willing to give an inch. Jupiter in Leo is in love with being wildly extravagant and neither Taurus nor Scorpio is. Taurus does enjoy luxury but they also love a good deal. Scorpio is not terribly interested in flaunting their wealth though they often have plenty squirreled away. Both look askance at Leo’s willingness to drop big bucks for something as ephemeral as a night of partying. What we value can come into sharp focus under this influence. The question of whether or not something was worth it comes to mind.
Normally Mercury in Gemini is quite chatty but with Saturn in Sagittarius firmly opposing it, silence may be the result. Lots of mental activity happening but the words to express it could be hard to find. Think of this as allowing for more time to process before speaking instead of blurting the first thing that crosses the mind. This also fits with the more contemplative theme of this Full Moon.
Venus and Mars have an odd connection on this lunation. Venus in Gemini is semi-sextile to Mars in Taurus and they feel out of sync. An airy Venus who loves to flit about is not a good fit for placid Mars in Taurus who prefers to move very slowly. In a natal chart, having Venus and Mars semi-sextile creates a situation where how we express affection is a poor fit with how we like to receive it. Mars in the earth signs can be very direct about getting their needs met while Venus in air loves to be courted with wit and humor. Venus in Gemini lives in her head more than her body and views the brain as a sex organ.
The elements are in balance for this lunation but nonetheless, water and earth have a far stronger presence. Fixed and Mutable signs overshadow Cardinal signs for a change, emphasizing the need for flexibility and consolidation instead of pushing our agendas hard. Uranus in Aries is not so insistent either as the square to Pluto gradually widens.
Use this wonderful Full Moon in Scorpio to renew relationships with the natural world and with our internal landscapes. Go for a walk where the ocean meets land or along a path winding through a wooded area. Both places have oxygen rich air to breathe which clears the mind and nourishes the body. Solitude and silence do the same. Enjoy!
Powerful undertows are always a part of the Scorpio Full Moon and this one at 23° 55′ Scorpio on 14 May 2014, 12:17 PM PDT, is no exception. Saturn in Scorpio conjoins the Moon and for those who have been attempting to evade the Lord of Karma, this Full Moon may prove to be a time of reckoning. People with their natal Saturn from 18° to 24° in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) are most likely to feel Saturn’s boot prints on their backs but anyone who has personal planets or Angles at those degrees in the fixed signs could get frequent reminders about accepting responsibility for one’s actions with grace. After all, Saturn in Scorpio is all about grace under pressure.
Saturn does have a mutual support arrangement with Jupiter in Cancer thanks to a waxing trine which will be exact on May 24 at 19°. We might be surprised to find our extended family is happy to cheer us up if we need it. The type of assistance Saturn provides is bound to be very valuable in a pragmatic manner. For instance, the uncle who shows up in his pickup truck with his chain saws to help clear away the tree that landed on your house. Mess gets cleaned up, someone ends up with a nice pile of firewood and it becomes clearer what the next step is to fully repair the damage.
Mars in Libra is now at his station degree of 9° Libra and will remain there until June 1 after going direct May 19. On this lunation the closest aspect Mars makes is an inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces, increasing the sense of lethargy and listlessness. This is a far better time to go on retreat and contemplate our inner workings than getting involved in projects demanding a frontal assault. Those with their Sun in Aries, Aries Rising or Mars in Libra natally have the greatest probability of feeling overloaded or having their progress slowed to a crawl now.
Currently retrograde Mars in Libra is in mutual reception with Venus in Aries. Usually Mars tends to dominate Venus but in this instance I feel they are more or less on equal footing. Both planets are in detriment but while Venus is forthright and direct about her needs in Aries, Mars is further weakened by being retrograde and is rather passive. Putting Mars further on the defensive is the conjunction of Venus and Uranus. The only hope for a fruitful dialogue between lovers may come from the fact both planets are harmoniously aspecting Mercury in Gemini. They could suffer information overload as Mercury happily offers a wide variety of options but they probably won’t be bored. This Mercury will cheerfully throw in a witty remark or two to get everyone laughing and break the ice. Progress is possible!
A more serious aspect is the square between the Venus-Uranus conjunction in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. This pits the rulers of Taurus and Scorpio against each other, not always a good thing. Venus-Uranus may feel they have to fight for even the smallest expression of independence while Pluto can make a good case for remaining in control to protect them. Here again Mercury as the messenger of the gods can be of help in resolving supposedly irresolvable issues, many of which were brought to light during period when the Grand Cross was ruling the skies. Full Moons have a way of shining light into the darker corners of our beings and if we allow ourselves to recognize those, we can begin to work on accepting the fact all of us have a dark side. In this situation even the smallest gains are important. Above all work very, very, very hard to avoid expectations of a specific outcome and/or making assumptions . . . both are major pitfalls.
One thing this Full Moon in Scorpio celebrates is the renewal of life. Taurus and Scorpio are both fertile signs though they express this in different ways. Taurus embraces the senses and delights in all the rich greens and fragrant flowers of spring. Scorpio is as much about rebirth as it is about the death that precedes it. Together they remind us to appreciate each day as it comes and live as much in the moment as possible.
On a personal note: This period between the Taurus New Moon Solar Eclipse and the Scorpio Full Moon have been filled with doctors, lawyers, financial advisers, Living Wills, and all sorts of Scorpio/eighth house matters. My daily routines were turned upside down and I’ve been frantically busy. Jupiter in Cancer squared my Libra Moon from the eighth house while Uranus in Aries opposed it from the fifth. Saturn in Scorpio has FINALLY moved off my Mars by this Full Moon but, dang, Saturn has heavy feet! I started writing this post about a week ago but kept getting interrupted.
What I’m hoping is the Full Moon will see the culmination of most intense phase of my father’s hospital stay which began a day or so after the Aries Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. I’m sure I will continue to deal with the fallout of this event but in a less dramatic manner. Bills will be coming in and need to be handled for quite some time.
As for this lunation, the Full Moon is within a degree or two of my Ascendant-Mercury in Scorpio with the Taurus Sun close to my Descendant. The Venus-Uranus conjunction opposes my Libra Moon from the fifth house while Mercury in Gemini conjoins my North Node . . . yes, probably why I’m going into this whole scenario in more depth than usual! 😀
Breathe easy because we get another week with no major bumps! At the end of the week is a truly wonderful Full Moon in mysterious Scorpio under which we can explore the Mysteries or simply dance the night away.
One of the nice things about having few major tough aspects to deal with is we can tune into the Moon and her moods. She starts out Monday in outgoing, dramatic Leo before slipping into introspective Virgo late in the day. Tuesday and Wednesday are excellent for puttering around handling the small stuff, whether in the office or at home. When the Moon enters fair minded, socially aware Libra on Thursday and Friday, negotiations are favored. Best be scrupulously fair though because the Moon closes out her stay in Libra with a conjunction to Saturn.
The weekend brings the Moon to Scorpio along with the tough aspect of the week – an opposition between Mercury in Aries and Saturn in Libra. Here Saturn may remind you of your mother and tell you to watch your language. It also acts as an anchor, preventing this impatient Mercury from overreaching.
For those undergoing significant transits, less background noise allows them to focus on those transits and how to deal with them. Neptune transits in particular are hard to define and often take a third party, like your astrologer, to point out. I have Neptune transiting my third house square my natal Venus right now and am having a terrible staying on track. Crazy making . . .
Take your time and pay attention to the ebb and flow of your moods this week and follow the Moon through your natal chart . . . always a useful exercise learning more about one’s natal chart dynamics.
You really need to be open to listening closely to your partner this week, Aries, as they have legitimate concerns. If you insist on doing it your way come hell or high water, the end results may be painful. Practice listening actively, OK? You can do it!
This is an excellent time for you to reflect on all your one-on-one relationships, Taurus, and evaluate whether or not those are working for you. If you are not happy, then you need to figure out why and what you want to do about it.
Nothing makes you happier, Gemini, than feeling like your mind is working like a finely tuned machine! You have the information you need at your finger tips and the knack to express yourself with charm. What more could you want? Sweet!
More than any other sign, Cancer, you feel the subtle changes the Moon makes as she moves through the signs. The focus will shift from business related communications, to home and family and the weekend may revive your interest in love and romance.
In terms of the big picture, the lion’s share of your attention is on your career at this time, Leo. You are interested in meeting with those who have bright ideas on how you can do this. It wouldn’t hurt to reserve some time for yourself on the weekend.
Monday and Tuesday are your best days to take care of business, Virgo. You will have more energy and it will be easier to focus on your personal concerns. Expect an eventful weekend. At the very least you’ll end up with lots of food for thought.
Probably the best thing about this week for you, Libra, is being able to have pleasant talks with your significant other . . . though I recommend not waiting until the weekend to do so. It will be too easy to end up on opposite sides then.
You can cruise through this week on auto-pilot, Scorpio. That’s good because this coming weekend is a very special time for you. You will have opportunities to delve deep within and discover exactly what your expectations for yourself are. Yeah . . . know thy self!
Taking care of career related details may occupy the first part of your week, Sagittarius, and then you might want to fit in time to get together with your peers. By the weekend though some quality alone time will be in order. Take it if you can.
Take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills the first of the week, Capricorn, especially those that can further your career goals. Do set aside time on the weekend to devote to enjoying life in the company of your favorite people. Have fun!
Make the most of the exceptional mental clarity you will enjoy most of the week, Aquarius, to resolve issues surrounding how you feel about your current career prospects. Do you have sufficient resources to achieve your goals or do you need to come up with alternatives.
You are beginning to emerge from a period when you might have felt out of sync with your partner, Pisces, where it was a challenge to figure out exactly what was going on. Enjoy discussing wide ranging philosophical matters with close friends this weekend.
If you know your Rising sign, read the horoscope for it too. 😀
