The dynamic drive of having cardinal signs ruling the sky is now history and adjusting to the difference is causing many of us to feel a great deal of frustration. Mercury left cardinal Cancer for fixed Leo on July 31 and we’ll start to notice this even more. Mercury in Leo is not shy about airing opinions after all and when it conjoins Mr. Big Mouth himself, Jupiter in Leo, over the weekend better grab some earplugs.
We typically see shorter periods of time when one mode dominates due to a concentration of the faster moving planets in one sign but it is the planets from Jupiter on out that create the real backdrop. We had become accustomed to a strongly cardinal feel for the first half of this year because Mars spent seven months in Libra. Since Jupiter was in Cancer, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, we were over-supplied with cardinal energy and adrenaline addicts everywhere LOVED it! Now we need to readjust to a different pace instead of charging ahead, guns blazing, we need to slow down and take our time!
Until the inconjunct between Saturn in Scorpio and Uranus in Aries finally starts to separate on August 10, it will continue to wear on those who have personal planets/Ascendant in either cardinal signs or fixed signs from 15° to 17°. This aspect has Saturn putting on the brakes while Uranus frantically attempts to gain its freedom. I doubt if there are any winners in this instance . . . just plenty of discomfort. The Leo planets will start showing up in support of Uranus in Aries over the next month, intensifying this battle because Saturn in Scorpio will be squaring those planets at the same time. This situation may seriously drain reserves and may be very hard on immune systems. If you are dealing with this transit, make sure to stay with a healthy routine which includes plenty of rest.
The time we spend in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) allow us to consolidate, rest up, reevaluate and prepare for our next leap ahead. For the next while Leo is the major influence with Mars and Saturn in Scorpio keeping it in line. After all the pushing and shoving to get ahead, there are plenty of loose ends to tidy up. Time to slow down, look around and get busy!
Bring on the fireworks and celebrate this magnificent New Moon at 03° 52′ Leo on 26 July 2014, 03:42 PM PDT! Jupiter in Leo sits smugly side by side with the luminaries adding to the general gloriousness of the occasion . . . at least according to him. Other may take exception with this attitude including Mars in cynical Scorpio.
To key to understanding the inner dynamics to this New Moon is the fact the chart is predominately fixed water, or Scorpio. One of Scorpio’s missions in life is to keep Leo’s arrogance in check. Which makes sense once we note Scorpio is on the cusp of the fourth house when Leo is on the first in an equal house system. The fourth house represents the parents (the mother in particular) to the first house. And who knows how to push our buttons better than mom?
Scorpio is one of the signs Mars is at home in and it shows. This is a highly effective Mars who knows how to bide his time with incredible tenacity. Like Mars in Capricorn, Mars in Scorpio is very good at delayed gratification. Unless Mars in Scorpio is afflicted in a natal chart, it usually bestows strength and endurance plus a natural dexterity. All of which comes in handy if one is a surgeon . . . a favorite Scorpio profession.
The Venus in Cancer-Pluto in Capricorn opposition adds yet another layer of Scorpionic influence. Emotions are what drive this combination and with Pluto present, controlling behaviors are too. Obsession, jealousy and the desire to dominate can make our love lives a living hell if we are not careful.
There is nothing quite like adding Neptune in Pisces to the scene to add an uneasy combination of glamour and illusion. Or should I mention the fact that glamour is often all about creating an illusion? In any case, Neptune is inconjunct the New Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Leo and we might as well plan on plenty of people presenting themselves as larger than life with as much pomp and circumstance as possible. While this can be highly entertaining, accepting everything at face value is a sure way to end up feeling very disillusioned in short order. A little fairy dust can be fun but a lot can leave bitterness and resentment behind.
Helping bring some reality to the situation is Saturn in Scorpio. It is trine to Mercury in Cancer and if we carefully observe the non-verbal ways people are communicating we might come closer to understanding what is actually going on.
The waning inconjunct between Saturn and Uranus in Aries is still in effect on the New Moon, continuing to create uncomfortable feelings and awkward situations. Saturn counsels adopting a “wait and see” attitude rather than acting on impulse, and in this instance, I’d go with Saturn. He is in a better position to know what is really happening.
Our best option on this Leo New Moon is to focus on all the wonderful, positive attributes of Leo. Its ability to play with joy and enthusiasm will be welcome guests at any gathering. Leave feelings of superiority and the need to play games of one-upmanship far behind, and embrace life with love and laughter.
On a personal note: The closest aspect the New Moon-Jupiter in Leo makes to my chart is a trine to my first house Venus in Sagittarius . . . yeah, baby, let the good times roll!! And there is a trine from Mercury in Cancer to my natal Mars-Mercury conjunction in Scorpio. This makes my Libra self very happy because it will be far easier to find the right thing to say to make others feel better about themselves.
Mars in Scorpio is hovering on the cusp of my twelfth house, having just conjoined my Sun and will soon conjoin my natal Jupiter in Scorpio. Excellent for accomplishing a great deal quietly behind the scenes . . . just my style!
When the Sun strolls into Leo on Tuesday, July 22, arm in arm with Jupiter in Leo, everyone will feel the heat! Just what all you fire signs have been waiting for to re-energize you and inspire you once more. For more sensitive types this may be a very noisy, over-the-top event, so brace your selves.
Uranus stations retrograde on Monday at 16° Aries and will be grumbling about having to move at a snail’s pace for awhile. It has been at a virtual standstill since mid-June so this really is nothing new. Those of you who have personal planets and/or Ascendant at 16° in the cardinal signs are probably all too familiar with what it means to have Uranus putting pressure there. Frustrating and very hard on the nerves.
Despite all the fiery drama, water and earth still dominate the sky and quiet Mercury in Cancer has plenty to contribute this week. It starts the week off with a forceful opposition to Pluto in Capricorn on Monday, followed by an abrasive square to Uranus in Aries on Thursday when it also is trine Saturn in Scorpio. Not the best time to attempt to force one’s opinions on others. Family infighting is possible this week, so be careful about throwing opinions around as the reactions may be surprising and not in a good way.
A more pleasant influence this week is Venus in Cancer’s trine to Neptune in Pisces on Thursday. Get out the rose-colored glasses and enjoy a sweet moment or two with your significant other. Most of us may not notice this aspect at all because it may be overshadowed by Jupiter’s conjunction to the Sun in Leo the same day.
A major shift this week is Mars FINALLY leaving Libra for intense, powerful Scorpio on Friday, July 25. Mars was not terribly effective in Libra but it will be in Scorpio where it co-rules that sign with Pluto. Mars in Scorpio is tenacious, ruthless and not afraid to take a stand. It plays an important role in the Leo New Moon on Saturday where it squares the New Moon-Jupiter conjunction creating friction and increasing the heat.
Something to keep in mind as we move into Leo season . . . water still is the dominate element though the mode switches from cardinal to fixed. The increase in fire combined with water equals steamy! Steam can give one very bad burns too. Be wary because when fixed signs lose their tempers they tend to stay angry for a long, long time. Good time to agree to disagree rather than choosing to confront.
If you know your Rising sign, please read the horoscope for it too.
How you handle this week, Aries, depends on where your focus is. If you have to deal with various family members, you may end up mumbling under your breath and very frustrated. If you are involved in creative work or are enjoying some play time, it may turn out great!
Having a beautiful, comfortable home is important to you, Taurus, and this week you may find yourself taking a look around to see what needs to be done in the way of home improvements. You might even decide it’s time to find some place better even though you usually hate to move.
Your communication style is typically warm, witty and occasionally dramatic, Gemini, but this week it may be all of that and more, much more. Your friends might find this highly entertaining and cheer you on, though you may wish to rethink taking this approach in the work place where it might be less well received.
Don’t be surprised if you find your moods are all over the place this week, Cancer. Please take note of how you are feeling before taking action or getting involved in serious discussions. Thursday looks particularly fraught for you and if you can reschedule important meetings please do so.
Leo, your time in the sun has arrived with bells on! You may feel a surge in confidence this week and as long as you remember to stay grounded in reality, this could be a brilliant time for you. Good time to work on self improvement projects which benefit from a can do attitude.
Networking with friends and colleagues this week may turn out to be more challenging than you may have anticipated, Virgo, and it will more likely be them and not you. Finding peaceful solutions could be most difficult on Thursday. You also might be wondering what all the excitement is about.
After this week, Libra, you should start to realize you are no longer in the hot seat and you can turn your attention to more practical matters like your finances. Conversations with superiors look trickiest mid-week. Taking time to attend social events could provide some lighthearted moments over the weekend.
Like it or not, Scorpio, you are probably going to be more visible than usual for awhile and your long term goals may be up for review. You may also decide it is time to make a long overdue career move soon and this weekend is a good time to think about what you want.
Staying upbeat and positive becomes a snap for you now, Sagittarius, probably to the point of being way overconfident. It might seem like there are endless possibilities to be explored and the only thing standing in your way is your own inner doubts. Maybe take some time to yourself soon?
The best place to focus your attention this week, Capricorn, is on your one-on-one relationships. Take time to listen closely to the feedback you are being given because it may change drastically over the course of the week. Thursday is full of mixed messages, both very good and very trying. Patience is going to needed.
Your one-on-one relationships are about to demand more of your time and attention, Aquarius. You may meet someone who lights up your life or you could decide your current partner simply does not suit you anymore. By the way, your working life may be about to get much busier which means you could have a lot on your plate!
You may be able to ignore the need to take steps to improve your daily health routines, Pisces, but not for long. Something could happen over the upcoming weekend to jolt you into making the necessary changes. The idea of combining travel with an opportunity to study is something to consider in the weeks ahead.
This week will be a breeze compared to last week. Yes, we have a Full Moon in Aries on steroids on Saturday and the Uranus-Pluto square is still in full force but most of the action is concentrated around the Full Moon. The rest of the week is low key. We can do this, people!!
There is a cheerful Mercury-Jupiter trine in air on Wednesday we can draw on to come up with the right words to sooth feelings hurt in last week’s shouting matches. On Thursday the hot Venus-Mars square provides a major distraction for the young and in love. Other than that it’s just the Moon doing its thing, slipping through Aquarius, Pisces and entering Aries on Saturday for the Full Moon.
It is Libras born from 25 September to 1 October who get one heck of a Solar Return for the coming year because the Sun will be part of a T-Square with Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. The buzz word is “transformative” . . . translated into reality this may mean running into change inducing people and situations. Given most of us rarely make significant attitude adjustments unless it is too painful not to . . . well, there you go. Don’t worry, there is help! Mercury will be trine Jupiter thru 27 September, then Venus in Leo will take over with a sextile to Saturn in Libra. And the wonderfully distracting square between Venus in Leo and Mars in Scorpio will be effect the entire time. My advice for these Libras is to do your best to steer clear of controlling types and please think carefully before leaping into something new and exciting. Baby, bath water, etc. OK?
Once again it is those who have personal planets and/or an Ascendant from 5° to 7° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) who stand the best chance of being in the middle of it this week. Next week the Uranus-Pluto square begins to ease apart . . . yay!
Your chickens might come home to roost this week, Aries, if you have been pushing your own agenda at the expense of those close to you in recent months. Either that or you have had it and will issue ultimatums! Better think this through . . .
Whilst there may be plenty of upheavals happening around you, Taurus, you may ignore those in favor of pleasant distractions. Perhaps your partner will have some ideas in this area. Single Taurus folk may want to invite someone special over to dinner.
Gemini, you are always up for socializing and this week looks great for getting together with friends. You love to make people laugh with your quick wit and your mind will be working in high gear this week. Spread the fun around.
Your task, Cancer, is to do your best to stay strong, focused and centered this week. Dealing with arbitrary people at work or a controlling partner may prove challenging and hard on your sensitive nerves. A weekend at home is a good idea.
As much as you love a good, dramatic scene, Leo, take care not to make the wrong person jealous at this time. You tend to believe you can sweet talk your way out of anything but that might not work out so well now.
Your best bet this week, Virgo, is to devote the majority of your attention to your career concerns. You are in a position to make a very favorable impression on someone important. Don’t undervalue yourself or sell yourself short. Let your light shine!
Let’s see, Libra . . . you can count on your peers for support but your significant other may decide to dash off someplace at the last minute. The parental unit is there for you though you may want to check for strings attached. Tread carefully.
There are hints of a sweet reward coming your way in your career, Scorpio, but you really need to avoid overplaying your hand. You know you can come on too strong and maybe it would be best to lighten up some. Careful!
If one of your favorite people asks you to accompany them to a gathering in support of a good cause, Sagittarius, please go. Not only will you meet some congenial people but you could have a great time. Gee, you might even learn something too.
You are entering a critical period regarding your career, Capricorn, and if you wish to close out this phase in style in order to move up, be very, very respectful towards your superiors. Please stay open to the idea of relocating if necessary.
A truly brilliant innovative concept may occur to you, Aquarius, and as much as you’d like to share it with others, keep it under wraps for now. Doing that will allow you to share an evening of fun with your significant other midweek. Shine later!
Pisces, what may sidetrack you this week is having to take time to deal with financial matters. It is all concerns you have been juggling for the past few months and hopefully you will be able to resolve them. This ought to give you some breathing room.
If you know your Rising sign, read the horoscope for it too.
Usually I like to publish my lunation posts about a week before the event but in the case of this Full Moon at 7° 22′ Aries on 29 September 2012 08:19 PM PDT, I felt we all can use more time to assimilate its impact. Uranus in Aries closely conjoins the Moon thus creating a T-Square with Pluto in Capricorn and the Libra Sun. Volatile!
Before you decide to hide under the bed for the next two weeks leading up to the Full Moon, I will start off talking about what I feel to be mitigating aspects, OK? Firstly, Venus, Libra’s ruler, is still enjoying its stay in Leo and is supported by a bracing sextile from Saturn in Libra. Saturn counsels using tact, decorum and going with a more tasteful appearance rather than Venus in Leo’s usual wildly dramatic choices. By the lunation Mercury in Libra will make a waxing sextile to Venus in Leo, always helpful when sitting down to talk things out with your loved ones.
A far more exciting aspect is the waxing square between Venus in Leo and Mars in Scorpio! Venus-Mars squares are good at creating sexual tension and this one is hot, hot, hot. Have you ever been deeply attracted to someone but had serious reservations about the whole thing at the same time? You just know if you act on your attraction it come back and bite you but damn, it might be worth it? Scorpio is drawn to Leo’s ability to generate immense energy. Leo is ruled by the Sun, after all. And Leo is intrigued with Scorpio’s aura of sexuality that promises so much. Romances started under this influence tend to burn hot and fast but also turn quickly to ash. Just saying . . .
Jupiter in Gemini can be considered a loose cannon though it does make a VERY wide trine to Mercury in Libra. Perhaps this will bring a touch of humor to our conversations. Undiluted Jupiter in Gemini brings a cheerful, chatty presence to the house it is transiting, encourages conversation on a wide variety of topics and lightens the mood.
A gentle, sweet, nurturing aspect is Neptune in Pisces trine to Ceres in Cancer. Cancer brings out Ceres’ more maternal side and we may feel the need to “mother” our loved ones with kindly gestures and favorite foods. I am inclined to see this one as more atmospheric and hopefully will soften the harshest rhetoric and allow us to be more sympathetic to others. Those with the Sun, Moon or Ascendant at 0° in the water signs will benefit the most from this trine.
Moving on the cardinal T-Square . . . it won’t take much to fan the flames and push folks over the edge under this influence! Whilst this powerful cardinal punch may prove useful for more retiring sorts who need help standing up for themselves, if you have a short fuse to begin with it might be bad news. Take stock ahead of time to identify your hot button issues and if you want to avoid tromping all over other people’s feelings (that Moon-Uranus conjunction), make a vow to hold off responding until a day has passed. Often that’s enough time for us to cool down and decide whether or not it’s worth it to risk damaging our relationship.
As I’ve watched the Uranus-Pluto square unfold over the past couple of years, it has become clear those most affected are those whose Sun, Moon or Ascendant has been hit by this transit. Next greatest impact was to Mercury, Venus and Mars. And of course having those planets and the Ascendant in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) made one a target. The next year’s group of degree points will be 8° to 12°. All of you with personal planets and ASC from 0° to 7° in the cardinal signs may heave a sigh of relief ‘cause the two bad boys are done bothering you!
Libra relationship issues are up for review with the Sun, Mercury and Saturn in Libra. Are your one-on-one relationships fair and equitable? Is compromise an integral part of them? Do you treat one another with respect? Please remember seventh house relationships included all committed relationships such as business partners, lifelong best friends, counselors or open enemies/worthy adversaries. If any of those relationships come up short, we may be in the process of ending them. Ending relationships with grace is underrated but necessary. After all, why leave enemies in your wake if you don’t have to? This will be very challenging due to the volatility of Moon conjunct Uranus in Aries. Do your best anyhow.
In many ways this Full Moon in Aries marks the end of a difficult season which started with the New Moon in Aries in March 2012. We have been fighting the cardinal battles over the intervening months and matters may finally come to a head under the Full Moon conjunct Uranus shining light into unexpected corners. Time to haul out our patience and tolerance because we’ll probably need them in the aftermath of this tumultuous lunation!
On a personal note: Saturn in Libra conjoining my Sun is probably the single most potent aspect for me. I’ve felt like I’ve been under his thumb for quite some time and whilst there have been many productive moments, Saturn does weigh one down. Ready for the changes Saturn in Scorpio will bring . . . I think. LOL
