Ask Our Readers: What Are Your Hopes and Fears for the New Year?

The coming year is astrologically charged, with Saturn and Uranus in a continued opposition, Venus retrograde, and six eclipses. The latter is especially rare and indicates that 2009 will be a highly significant year.

In this week’s reader survey, we’d like to know what your hopes, wishes, and fears for the coming year are. We decided not to make it a poll, because we didn’t want to limit the broad range of possible answers.

Personally, I’m looking forward to sweeping changes in my personal life, with the continue series of eclipses in Aquarius and Leo, which fall in my [...]

Saturday Extra: Living With Saturn Opposing Uranus

Bridging Earth & Water

On November 4, Saturn opposed Uranus at 18 degrees Virgo and Pisces, the first of four oppositions that will take place in these signs over the next 18 months. The next one will occur on February 5, 2009, at 20 degrees, followed by a third pass on September 15, 2009, at 24 degrees, and the last one on April 26, 2010, at 28 degrees – clearly a mandate on working with the Virgo-Pisces axis.

The key is to be aware that this is all potential energy, not actual, because we are dealing with a stable structure in the grand cross. Unlike a T-square, where the planet at the apex acts as the focal point and shows us the path of least resistance, a [...]

Ask Real Astrologers: Saturn-Uranus Opposition Aspecting Natal Jupiter

Libra ponders . . .

This week’s question comes from Elizabeth in Minnesota:

I’m wondering what to expect from the Saturn/Uranus opposition in my 8th and 2nd houses, when Uranus is conjunct my natal Jupiter in the second. How might it all play out?

Neith’s response:

Elizabeth, you are wise to start focusing on this process now, because you are moving into a period of intense adjustment and reevaluation. As the Saturn-Uranus opposition continues to unfold until July 2010, it will trigger your nodal axis, with your Sun conjunct your North Node in Gemini and your Moon-North Node conjunction.

The interplay between [...]
