Week of November 9, 2015

It’s a funny thing. We seldom notice sextiles and trines as they quietly go about making our lives easier but throw in one or two inconjuncts and squares and boom! They have our attention. If there is a Yod present like there is this week with Uranus in Aries at the apex, it will definitely make us sit up and take notice.

It all started last Thursday when Jupiter in Virgo was exactly inconjunct Uranus in Aries. On Monday the Scorpio Sun is inconjunct Uranus, and Thursday it is Mercury in Scorpio’s turn. The base of the Yod is represented by the Jupiter-Scorpio Sun sextile on Tuesday. This Yod is part of the pivotal Scorpio New Moon on November 11, and we may get a chance to experience firsthand what happens when Virgo and Scorpio confront Aries. What may bring people to grief is insisting on behaving with reckless disregard for anyone else’s welfare and well being . . . driving while stinking drunk is one example that comes to mind. While Virgo may still want to reach out to help, Scorpio will go with tough love and let them hit rock bottom. Please think before indulging in “cut off your nose to spite your face” behaviors this week.

A less controversial inconjunct is one between gentle Venus in Libra and the ever elusive Neptune in Pisces on Saturday. Things like beauty is only skin deep come to mind for this one. Falling in love with a beautiful illusion usually leads to pain and disillusionment in the long run.

Smoothing the way this week are a Scorpio Sun-Chiron in Pisces trine on Monday, Mercury in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn Tuesday, Mercury in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces Thursday, Venus in Libra sextile Saturn in Sagittarius on Friday and Mercury in Scorpio sextile Jupiter in Virgo on Friday. . . whew! All of those quietly promote listening skills, healing through empathy as well as add warmth and generosity to the atmosphere. Not much more we could ask for is there?

Thursday we also gain another planet in air when Mars leaves earthy Virgo for Libra. Mars is considered in detriment in Libra. Libra is often reluctant to take action without considering all the angles which can reduce the natural vitality of the red planet. Working with a good partner can make all the difference in the world to someone with Mars in Libra. Having both Venus and Mars in Libra does add a strong mental element to our love lives.

We start the week off with a void-of-course Libra Moon on Monday, and if we plan accordingly we can still get plenty accomplished. Choose existing projects over new ones for better results. Once the Moon enters Scorpio Monday evening on her way to the New Moon on Wednesday, getting on with our inner work looks promising. Water and earth signs are in ascendance until Thursday and those favor hands on work rather than speculation and theorizing.

Thursday the Moon enters fiery Sagittarius in the morning, renewing our creative energy and generally restoring our sense of humor. We will also notice the difference having both Mars and Venus in airy Libra makes by the end of the day. Even conjoining Saturn won’t dampen the Sagittarius Moon’s mood too much. This looks to be a T.G.I.F. Friday because the Sagittarius Moon trine Uranus in Aries and squaring Jupiter in Virgo will make everyone anxious to head out looking for fun.

After a long void-of-course on Saturday, the Moon enters Capricorn late afternoon and promptly squares Mars in Libra. That looks like tired and cranky to me! Sunday the Moon will square Venus in Libra early and conjoin Pluto late. Good time to practice being kind and patient with one another. Solitary activities such as working on personal projects or reading quietly are both better than spending time with friends and family.

We will experience a notable shift in energy this week before and after the Scorpio New Moon. Elemental balance is restored by the weekend, a big change from the first half of the week dominated by earth and water. If we have done a good job of clearing away old cobwebs before the New Moon, we will be able to move forward with enthusiasm by the weekend. Prepare to dive deep and come up with all kinds of treasures!

Libra Moon + Venus in Libra says Play Fair 11-7-2015

The Libra Moon did succeed in improving the atmosphere yesterday and after Venus comes home to Libra this morning, she too will do her best to promote peace and good will. However today the Libra Moon has to contend with the re-emerging cardinal crunch. Midday Pluto in Cappy will square the Moon and this evening Uranus in Aries will oppose her. So despite our best efforts to maintain balance, our emotional scales could still be stomped on. Good time to practice tolerance and be fair.

Venus arrives in Libra just in time to help balance the intensity of the New Moon in Scorpio on Wednesday. She is not a fan of emotional drama or angst. Harmony and tranquility make Venus in Libra happy. Take time to seek out beauty and always remember to breathe.

Week of November 2, 2015

We have two planets changing signs this week, one at the beginning and the other at the end. Appropriately enough, Mercury slips into Scorpio in the middle of the night and is waiting for us when we get up to go to work Monday morning. On Sunday, November 8, Venus comes home to Libra and turns on the charm.

Venus makes news on Monday too when she conjoins Mars at 23° Virgo. This is the last of three conjunctions Venus and Mars make this year. The first was February 21 in Aries and the second was August 31 in Leo, celebrating love in the fire signs with verve and drama. Now we have these two love birds meeting up in sensual, earthy Virgo, who demonstrates love and affection in tangible ways. Perhaps by cleaning your house, preparing delicious, healthy meals and giving amazing massages. Enjoy!

We may see another less attractive side of Virgo on Tuesday and Thursday when Jupiter in Virgo forms tense aspects with Chiron in Pisces and Uranus in Aries. Between Jupiter’s knack for exaggeration and Virgo’s tendency to make mountains out of molehills, the potential is there to create a great deal of fuss and bother over the smallest mistakes. The opposition to Chiron on Tuesday can be especially painful for those who have personal planets at 17° in Gemini and Sagittarius. Speaking out of turn or spreading gossip are possible sources of dissension. Thursday Jupiter will be inconjunct Uranus in Aries . . . the perfect setup to leaping to all the wrong conclusions and generally behaving with a complete lack of consideration. Ugh.

On hand to help us get over the stress left by the Jupiter aspects is a wonderful sextile between the Scorpio Sun and Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto in Capricorn, late Thursday. The calm, practical detective work this aspect supports will reveal the truth, no matter how harsh it is. On Friday there is a dreamy trine between Mercury in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces which is perfect for finding the right words or actions to sooth our emotional bruises.

The sweetest event this week is Venus arriving in her home sign of Libra on Sunday. Venus adores being in Libra where she can happily surround herself with beauty. Her charming smile lights up a room and she can be depended on to always behave with discretion. We also gain a planet in air once more, restoring a degree of balance in the elements.

The Moon starts the week in boisterous Leo which sets her up for conflicts with both Mercury and the Sun in Scorpio. On Monday she squares Mercury and does the same with the Sun on Tuesday. Lightening up the situation Monday is a trine to Saturn in Sagittarius, with another trine to Uranus in Aries late Tuesday. Looks like an emotional roller coaster ride the first of the week to me. Don’t forget fixed sign standoffs can be very sticky and forgiveness hard to come by.

Following a long void-of-course (from late Tuesday afternoon to late Wednesday afternoon), the Moon walks quietly into Virgo, a much more comfortable place for her during Scorpio season. Thursday favors working on practical matters and should be a generally productive day.

Be careful about taking on too much Friday due to the Moon-Jupiter conjunction in the morning. The Moon conjoins Mars and Venus during the night and very early Saturday morning before moving into Libra early/mid-morning.

This weekend features the socially aware Libra Moon and consequently looks quite good for either planning parties or a quiet dinner for two. Saturday appears to be more promising for happy outcomes than Sunday when the Libra Moon has to contend with Pluto in Capricorn in the morning and an opposition to Uranus in Aries that evening. F.Y.I. We could start to notice a reemergence of cardinal crunch issues whenever the Moon is in a cardinal sign starting this month.

I’d advise working on behaving with kindness and consideration this week. There are folks who are going to be feeling a little ragged around the edges and they will need to be handled with care. Treating all we come into contact with respectfully is a good place to start. It certainly won’t hurt and may actually do considerable good. Earn good karma this week!

Libra Weekly Horoscopes for October 6, 2014

Doorway to Autumn

I see potential for suffering from cognitive dissonance this week with the powerful but conflicting energies hammering down on us. Unless you are Aquarius native, it can be challenging to embrace two very different concepts simultaneously . . . walking paradoxes are what Aquarius is about you know. This is especially true if you are deeply attached to one point of view which is true of many of us.

The center piece of the week is the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in fiery Aries on Wednesday. It contains two major aspects patterns that are the heart of the paradoxes at work this week. First is the amazing Grand Trine in fire (Mars in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries) which the Libra Sun-Venus conjunction turns into a Kite Pattern. Second is a cardinal T-Square with the Libra Sun-Venus conjunction and Aries Moon-Uranus conjunction both square to Pluto in Capricorn. We have one pattern urging us to reach out and explore, while the other has Pluto demanding control and accountability every inch of the way. And both patterns intersect with the luminaries at 15°, so if you have personal planets and/or Angles between 11° to 15° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) you are probably already up to your eyebrows in the resulting turmoil . . . I know I am.

The Libra Sun and Venus are taking turns bumping into the Uranus-Pluto square now. It started last weekend when the Sun squared Pluto on Saturday. Tuesday the Sun will oppose Uranus in Aries, Wednesday Venus squares Pluto and Saturday it will oppose Uranus. Relationship issues you may have thought you had settled can flare up this week and you may need to make some hard choices. There is a good chance this is part of a pattern that can go back to the long passage of Mars in Libra from December 2013 to July 2014. The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse may reveal the depth of the issues too.

Mars in Sagittarius was trine Uranus in Aries exactly on the weekend and will be exactly trine Jupiter in Leo midweek, completing the Grand Trine. This buoyant, optimistic pattern is bound to affect those with personal planets/Ascendant in the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) from 14° to 17°. It will be a good chance to test the power of positive thinking and an upbeat attitude. This whole event could turn into nothing but lots of hot air too . . . easy come, easy go.

This is the first full week of the last Mercury retrograde of the year and our ability to work with it may improve to a degree when Mercury finds its way back into Libra on Friday. At least we might be able to articulate our frustrations again!

By the weekend the most intense phase will be over and we can slow down enough to talk everything over. There will be plenty of air in the sky to help: Libra Sun, Mercury and Venus plus the Moon will be in Gemini. One thing Mercury Retch is good for is doing a thorough review of what’s been happening.

If you know your Rising sign, please read the horoscope for it too. 😀

I’d say the greatest source of frustration for you this week, Aries, is the feeling someone is slowing you down due to the need to micro-manage every move you make at work. Rather than walking out, try talking this out with the sanest person you know. An old friend, your partner or maybe a “frenemy” are all good choices.

You might be able to avoid getting caught up in the drama around you, Taurus, and focus instead on living a more healthy life style. Finding a better balance between work and play is part of this. Your partner or significant other may surprise you with some excellent suggestions about ways to improve your health and wellbeing.

If your social schedule is full to overflowing these days, Gemini, it probably has to do with your significant other and their need to be busy. Not that you have any objections because you enjoy meeting new people! If your mind has been sluggish lately that may improve on the weekend.

I wish I could say you are going to be out of the line of fire this time, Cancer, but I doubt if that will be the case. This will be especially true for those of you born the first week of June or with planets in Cancer from 11° to 15°. You may feel caught between conflicting demands from your work, your partner, your family and your own needs.

Belief in the power of positive thinking comes easily to you now, Leo, and if you have some specific goals you want to achieve and have laid the necessary groundwork, success can be yours. The key is “necessary groundwork” . . . without that getting there is much less certain.

A good place to funnel your energies now, Virgo, is your home. If you are in the midst of redecorating or perhaps looking for a new place, you might find what you are looking for due to luck. If you have been struggling with feeling at a loss for words lately, that may improve by the weekend.

Brace yourself, Libra, because you may be in the hot seat this week and be called upon to help come up with fair and equitable solutions. This really is right up your alley and your ability to be both tactful and charming is very good right now. Put a smile on your face and go for it!

For once, Scorpio, you may be recognized for your abilities to heal and repair wounds caused by other people’s haste and poor judgment. You might not have the words but those are less important than your willingness to be there for those in need. Remember not to get in too big a hurry yourself!

Not much is going to slow you down these days, Sagittarius, because you know in your heart what you’re doing is right for you. Your creative fires are burning brightly and taking advantage of that is all you need to do for the time being. Do take some time this weekend for your significant other.

Just about the time your career situation is beginning to smooth out, Capricorn, you could end up having to revisit a family situation. Do your best to handle this in your usual efficient, pragmatic manner even if it triggers a need to step in and take control. Hopefully this will blow over quickly one way or another.

One thing you are usually quite good at, Aquarius, is juggling paradoxes in your head. You will need that ability this week because while you know in your heart your solutions are the best for everyone, others may not agree . . . vehemently. Take a time out this weekend to play.

Exciting things may be developing in your career now, Pisces, and while you may be thrilled, you could also end up depending more on luck than you really like. Unexpected changes to your cash flow should put you on the plus side when the dust settles. Looks like a good weekend to hang out at home.

Libra Weekly Horoscopes for September 29, 2014

What’s not to like about this coming week? Venus is thrilled to be home in Libra and we have a waxing Grand Trine in fire beginning to gain momentum! Sounds good doesn’t it? There is one small catch . . . Mercury in Scorpio is slowing to station retrograde on Saturday, October 4 which happens to be the same day the Libra Sun squares Pluto in Capricorn.

Failure to take a slowing Mercury into account is not a good idea. However the standard precautions are fairly easy to follow. Remember to read anything you are signing with care, backup your data, call ahead to confirm reservations and generally plan on extra time if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. Since it is Mercury in Scorpio, people are bound to be holding information back for one reason or another, requiring more time and patience than usual to extract it. Check the area of your chart where 2° Scorpio falls to get a better of idea where the greatest challenges lie.

The weekend is the sore point this week because that is when Mercury stations and the Libra Sun has issues with Pluto in Capricorn. Face offs between those two are usually icily polite because both Libra and Capricorn believe in social correctness and usually work very hard at maintaining appearances instead of screaming obscenities! The knives will be very sharp and words even sharper . . . it is Mercury in Scorpio after all.

The best evening to go out on date night is Friday when the inconjunct between Venus in Libra and Neptune in Pisces is in effect. The little extra dose of romantic fog ought to help ease any awkwardness. The building influence of the Mars-Uranus trine in fire, exact at 14° late Saturday or early Sunday, will make going to a ball game or taking long walks outdoors very attractive. Also increases the possibility of quickly acting on the attraction couples feel towards one another. Whether or not this works out well depends on the degree of intimacy already in place. Affairs entered into now may end as quickly as they started.

How we experience this week may depend on what element dominates our natal chart. Those with plenty of fire who embrace the Grand Trine in fire will probably be the most upbeat and inclined to power on through no matter what. Air folk may find Mercury slowing to station in reserved Scorpio interferes with their ability to express themselves though the Sun and Venus in airy Libra could offset this.

Those with a preponderance in water benefit from intuitive Mercury in Scorpio along with Saturn and Neptune in Scorpio and Pisces. It is the earth sign contingent who may experience the most frustration as they watch so many around them flying by the seat of their pants and completely ignoring common sense solutions. Best be kind to your earth sign friends because many of us are going to need their sound advice sooner or later!

If you know your Rising sign, please read the horoscope for it too. 😀

The biggest problem you might run into this week, Aries, is moving so fast you blow right past some very important details. You know . . . the ones you wish you had taken time for because its information you realize later you really, really need? The obvious remedy is to slow down and pay attention, isn’t it? Just a suggestion.

If you want to rid yourself of lingering stress related aches and pains, Taurus, please go ahead and schedule a nice massage with your favorite therapist. Be sure to ask for all the little extras like scented oils and pleasant background music. Aroma therapy is something you usually benefit from. Communicating with your partner this week may have its sketchy moments.

Gemini, I suggest you minimize your usual multitasking this week and choose to focus on one project or conversation at a time. The short term frustration you experience will probably be offset by avoiding mistakes with lasting consequences. Be sure to make note of especially creative thoughts floating by now.

Just about the time you are beginning to feel like your relationship with your extended family is seriously looking up, Cancer, you may run into an instant replay of issues that cropped up earlier this year. This weekend and early next week are when the situation may be the most intense.

When I mentioned fire signs powering on through, Leo, I was thinking of you! Having a positive attitude usually works quite well for you and you aren’t about let anything or anyone interfere with that. Please be as clear and concise as possible in your conversations with your parents or other family members now.

Virgo, please be sure to give yourself a break this week if you find yourself rendered inarticulate at an awkward moment. You do prefer to choose your words with care under normal circumstances, and as the week progresses it may take you longer than usual to find the right ones. Take some time alone over the weekend to recharge.

Enjoy the appreciative looks and compliments that may come your way now, Libra. Smile sweetly and say thank you! If someone decides to go all controlling on you over the weekend, they may find out why Libra is known as the iron fist in the velvet glove. You shouldn’t have any trouble speaking up for yourself.

If you have a knotty problem to solve, Scorpio, now is a good time to start digging into it because it won’t bother you all that much to tease it apart one strand at a time. You might find your sense of time is less reliable this week so please check your schedule frequently to make sure you don’t miss important appointments.

This is one of those weeks when it may become apparent, Sagittarius, you do dance to the beat of a different drummer than those around you. Your spirit of adventure is very strong now and if the opportunity to travel presents its self, you will probably jump all over it. Double check reservations, etc before you leave!

This week you may begin to attract some favorable attention for all the hard work you’ve been putting in, Capricorn, so give yourself permission to relax and enjoy it. If you feel the urge to start micro-managing at work late this week, consider the consequences. Be aware your networking efforts may grind to a halt over the weekend. Taking a break is fine, OK?!

If you have a chance, Aquarius, be sure to spend time with the most upbeat, positive people you know and allow their optimistic attitude to rub off on you. If you have been thinking of talking to your supervisors, you might want to hold off for a week or so.

Pisces, you should be able to swim around any the turmoil developing as the week draws to a close as long as you allow your intuition to be your guide. However, if someone suggests doing some traveling, please hold off finalizing your plans until late next week. Consider spending time in a beautiful setting this weekend to soothe your spirit.
