I see potential for suffering from cognitive dissonance this week with the powerful but conflicting energies hammering down on us. Unless you are Aquarius native, it can be challenging to embrace two very different concepts simultaneously . . . walking paradoxes are what Aquarius is about you know. This is especially true if you are deeply attached to one point of view which is true of many of us.
The center piece of the week is the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in fiery Aries on Wednesday. It contains two major aspects patterns that are the heart of the paradoxes at work this week. First is the amazing Grand Trine in fire (Mars in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries) which the Libra Sun-Venus conjunction turns into a Kite Pattern. Second is a cardinal T-Square with the Libra Sun-Venus conjunction and Aries Moon-Uranus conjunction both square to Pluto in Capricorn. We have one pattern urging us to reach out and explore, while the other has Pluto demanding control and accountability every inch of the way. And both patterns intersect with the luminaries at 15°, so if you have personal planets and/or Angles between 11° to 15° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) you are probably already up to your eyebrows in the resulting turmoil . . . I know I am.
The Libra Sun and Venus are taking turns bumping into the Uranus-Pluto square now. It started last weekend when the Sun squared Pluto on Saturday. Tuesday the Sun will oppose Uranus in Aries, Wednesday Venus squares Pluto and Saturday it will oppose Uranus. Relationship issues you may have thought you had settled can flare up this week and you may need to make some hard choices. There is a good chance this is part of a pattern that can go back to the long passage of Mars in Libra from December 2013 to July 2014. The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse may reveal the depth of the issues too.
Mars in Sagittarius was trine Uranus in Aries exactly on the weekend and will be exactly trine Jupiter in Leo midweek, completing the Grand Trine. This buoyant, optimistic pattern is bound to affect those with personal planets/Ascendant in the fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) from 14° to 17°. It will be a good chance to test the power of positive thinking and an upbeat attitude. This whole event could turn into nothing but lots of hot air too . . . easy come, easy go.
This is the first full week of the last Mercury retrograde of the year and our ability to work with it may improve to a degree when Mercury finds its way back into Libra on Friday. At least we might be able to articulate our frustrations again!
By the weekend the most intense phase will be over and we can slow down enough to talk everything over. There will be plenty of air in the sky to help: Libra Sun, Mercury and Venus plus the Moon will be in Gemini. One thing Mercury Retch is good for is doing a thorough review of what’s been happening.
If you know your Rising sign, please read the horoscope for it too.
I’d say the greatest source of frustration for you this week, Aries, is the feeling someone is slowing you down due to the need to micro-manage every move you make at work. Rather than walking out, try talking this out with the sanest person you know. An old friend, your partner or maybe a “frenemy” are all good choices.
You might be able to avoid getting caught up in the drama around you, Taurus, and focus instead on living a more healthy life style. Finding a better balance between work and play is part of this. Your partner or significant other may surprise you with some excellent suggestions about ways to improve your health and wellbeing.
If your social schedule is full to overflowing these days, Gemini, it probably has to do with your significant other and their need to be busy. Not that you have any objections because you enjoy meeting new people! If your mind has been sluggish lately that may improve on the weekend.
I wish I could say you are going to be out of the line of fire this time, Cancer, but I doubt if that will be the case. This will be especially true for those of you born the first week of June or with planets in Cancer from 11° to 15°. You may feel caught between conflicting demands from your work, your partner, your family and your own needs.
Belief in the power of positive thinking comes easily to you now, Leo, and if you have some specific goals you want to achieve and have laid the necessary groundwork, success can be yours. The key is “necessary groundwork” . . . without that getting there is much less certain.
A good place to funnel your energies now, Virgo, is your home. If you are in the midst of redecorating or perhaps looking for a new place, you might find what you are looking for due to luck. If you have been struggling with feeling at a loss for words lately, that may improve by the weekend.
Brace yourself, Libra, because you may be in the hot seat this week and be called upon to help come up with fair and equitable solutions. This really is right up your alley and your ability to be both tactful and charming is very good right now. Put a smile on your face and go for it!
For once, Scorpio, you may be recognized for your abilities to heal and repair wounds caused by other people’s haste and poor judgment. You might not have the words but those are less important than your willingness to be there for those in need. Remember not to get in too big a hurry yourself!
Not much is going to slow you down these days, Sagittarius, because you know in your heart what you’re doing is right for you. Your creative fires are burning brightly and taking advantage of that is all you need to do for the time being. Do take some time this weekend for your significant other.
Just about the time your career situation is beginning to smooth out, Capricorn, you could end up having to revisit a family situation. Do your best to handle this in your usual efficient, pragmatic manner even if it triggers a need to step in and take control. Hopefully this will blow over quickly one way or another.
One thing you are usually quite good at, Aquarius, is juggling paradoxes in your head. You will need that ability this week because while you know in your heart your solutions are the best for everyone, others may not agree . . . vehemently. Take a time out this weekend to play.
Exciting things may be developing in your career now, Pisces, and while you may be thrilled, you could also end up depending more on luck than you really like. Unexpected changes to your cash flow should put you on the plus side when the dust settles. Looks like a good weekend to hang out at home.
What’s not to like about this coming week? Venus is thrilled to be home in Libra and we have a waxing Grand Trine in fire beginning to gain momentum! Sounds good doesn’t it? There is one small catch . . . Mercury in Scorpio is slowing to station retrograde on Saturday, October 4 which happens to be the same day the Libra Sun squares Pluto in Capricorn.
Failure to take a slowing Mercury into account is not a good idea. However the standard precautions are fairly easy to follow. Remember to read anything you are signing with care, backup your data, call ahead to confirm reservations and generally plan on extra time if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. Since it is Mercury in Scorpio, people are bound to be holding information back for one reason or another, requiring more time and patience than usual to extract it. Check the area of your chart where 2° Scorpio falls to get a better of idea where the greatest challenges lie.
The weekend is the sore point this week because that is when Mercury stations and the Libra Sun has issues with Pluto in Capricorn. Face offs between those two are usually icily polite because both Libra and Capricorn believe in social correctness and usually work very hard at maintaining appearances instead of screaming obscenities! The knives will be very sharp and words even sharper . . . it is Mercury in Scorpio after all.
The best evening to go out on date night is Friday when the inconjunct between Venus in Libra and Neptune in Pisces is in effect. The little extra dose of romantic fog ought to help ease any awkwardness. The building influence of the Mars-Uranus trine in fire, exact at 14° late Saturday or early Sunday, will make going to a ball game or taking long walks outdoors very attractive. Also increases the possibility of quickly acting on the attraction couples feel towards one another. Whether or not this works out well depends on the degree of intimacy already in place. Affairs entered into now may end as quickly as they started.
How we experience this week may depend on what element dominates our natal chart. Those with plenty of fire who embrace the Grand Trine in fire will probably be the most upbeat and inclined to power on through no matter what. Air folk may find Mercury slowing to station in reserved Scorpio interferes with their ability to express themselves though the Sun and Venus in airy Libra could offset this.
Those with a preponderance in water benefit from intuitive Mercury in Scorpio along with Saturn and Neptune in Scorpio and Pisces. It is the earth sign contingent who may experience the most frustration as they watch so many around them flying by the seat of their pants and completely ignoring common sense solutions. Best be kind to your earth sign friends because many of us are going to need their sound advice sooner or later!
If you know your Rising sign, please read the horoscope for it too.
The biggest problem you might run into this week, Aries, is moving so fast you blow right past some very important details. You know . . . the ones you wish you had taken time for because its information you realize later you really, really need? The obvious remedy is to slow down and pay attention, isn’t it? Just a suggestion.
If you want to rid yourself of lingering stress related aches and pains, Taurus, please go ahead and schedule a nice massage with your favorite therapist. Be sure to ask for all the little extras like scented oils and pleasant background music. Aroma therapy is something you usually benefit from. Communicating with your partner this week may have its sketchy moments.
Gemini, I suggest you minimize your usual multitasking this week and choose to focus on one project or conversation at a time. The short term frustration you experience will probably be offset by avoiding mistakes with lasting consequences. Be sure to make note of especially creative thoughts floating by now.
Just about the time you are beginning to feel like your relationship with your extended family is seriously looking up, Cancer, you may run into an instant replay of issues that cropped up earlier this year. This weekend and early next week are when the situation may be the most intense.
When I mentioned fire signs powering on through, Leo, I was thinking of you! Having a positive attitude usually works quite well for you and you aren’t about let anything or anyone interfere with that. Please be as clear and concise as possible in your conversations with your parents or other family members now.
Virgo, please be sure to give yourself a break this week if you find yourself rendered inarticulate at an awkward moment. You do prefer to choose your words with care under normal circumstances, and as the week progresses it may take you longer than usual to find the right ones. Take some time alone over the weekend to recharge.
Enjoy the appreciative looks and compliments that may come your way now, Libra. Smile sweetly and say thank you! If someone decides to go all controlling on you over the weekend, they may find out why Libra is known as the iron fist in the velvet glove. You shouldn’t have any trouble speaking up for yourself.
If you have a knotty problem to solve, Scorpio, now is a good time to start digging into it because it won’t bother you all that much to tease it apart one strand at a time. You might find your sense of time is less reliable this week so please check your schedule frequently to make sure you don’t miss important appointments.
This is one of those weeks when it may become apparent, Sagittarius, you do dance to the beat of a different drummer than those around you. Your spirit of adventure is very strong now and if the opportunity to travel presents its self, you will probably jump all over it. Double check reservations, etc before you leave!
This week you may begin to attract some favorable attention for all the hard work you’ve been putting in, Capricorn, so give yourself permission to relax and enjoy it. If you feel the urge to start micro-managing at work late this week, consider the consequences. Be aware your networking efforts may grind to a halt over the weekend. Taking a break is fine, OK?!
If you have a chance, Aquarius, be sure to spend time with the most upbeat, positive people you know and allow their optimistic attitude to rub off on you. If you have been thinking of talking to your supervisors, you might want to hold off for a week or so.
Pisces, you should be able to swim around any the turmoil developing as the week draws to a close as long as you allow your intuition to be your guide. However, if someone suggests doing some traveling, please hold off finalizing your plans until late next week. Consider spending time in a beautiful setting this weekend to soothe your spirit.
Knowing Venus will be entering Libra next Monday, September 29, brings a smile to my face. Venus is so very happy in her home sign. She puts an extra sparkle in those already gorgeous Libra smiles. Libra celebrates peace and beauty, both things Venus is comfortable with.
Since Libra is an air sign, those with this Venus natally appreciate all that is beautiful in a rather cerebral way. Unlike Venus in Taurus who is very sensual and enjoys the physical pleasures, Venus in Libra is rather prudish. She would rather drink in the beauty around her with her eyes and ears. Her home is usually lovely and tranquil if at all possible. Vulgar people, noise, bad smells and rude behaviors are all bound to leave Venus in Libra cold and unhappy. You probably won’t find people with Venus in Libra hanging out in smoky bars chatting up the rough trade!
Making her even more sensitive to any disturbances in the atmosphere is an inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces on October 3. Good time to enjoy a movie about star-crossed lovers or read sad poetry written by someone wallowing in the depths of unrequited love. Hard aspects between Venus and Neptune do tend to glorify the sacrifices one makes for love. I’m not a big fan myself but my Venus is in cheerful, blunt Sagittarius!
The following week Venus will run up against the dynamic duo of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. First Venus will square Pluto in Capricorn at 11° on October 8 before opposing Uranus in Aries at 14° on October 11. Right off hand, I’d say budding love affairs which began when Neptune was beguiling Venus the week before may run into a rough patch. It would be wise to avoid overly controlling behaviors or being too insistent on being able to do whatever whenever. Venus in Libra is a big fan of moderation and decorum.
The fun begins when Jupiter in Leo shows up with flowers and compliments on October 14 via a sextile to Venus. Speaking of fine compliments, Mercury will conjoin Venus in Libra on October 17 and enable lovers everywhere to find exactly the right words to win over the one they have fallen in love with. Over the weekend on October 19, there is an excellent sextile between Venus and a playful Mars in Sagittarius. Mars in Sagittarius likes to seduce with humor and Venus in Libra will be happy to play along.
Venus almost catches up to the Libra Sun before leaving Libra but doesn’t quite make it. On October 23, Venus slides into the mysteries of Scorpio and finally conjoins the Sun in that sign on October 25 . . . and that’s a story for another day.
Celebrate Venus’s stay in Libra by taking time to watch a sunset or visit your favorite art gallery with your favorite person since this Venus loves to share her pleasures with another. Use your indoor voice at all times and make an effort to be tactful and diplomatic with your loved ones. Except for the turmoil from about October 6 to October 13, Venus’s stay in Libra ought to be quite pleasant.
An unsettling week is in store and we will need to keep moving quickly to avoid getting run over. There is the second Full Moon in Aquarius to contend with and the Sun leaving fiery Leo for calm, earthy Virgo in tandem with Mercury. The shift from Leo to Virgo is rather abrupt this year and we may find ourselves scrambling to shift into work mode.
The Uranus-Pluto square is being triggered once more by Jupiter in Cancer squaring Uranus in Aries on Wednesday and Venus squaring Pluto in Capricorn on Saturday (see my post on Venus in Libra). As uncomfortable as these aspects might make us, they will help get us moving again. Rather than fight to stay in our little ruts, maybe it’s time to venture out and try something new. The downside of Jupiter’s involvement is the need to be right, to feel our opinion is the only one and attempt to force those opinions on others. Very bad idea!
Neptune in Pisces is up to his usual tricks, generating fog and creating confusion via an inconjunct to poor Venus in Libra on Monday and opposing Mercury in Virgo on the weekend. It might sound mean but verify any sad tales of woe before offering your support, particularly financial support. We may be more vulnerable than usual to other people’s sob stories.
Having the Sun and Mercury conjoined in Virgo ought to prove very useful for sorting out our thoughts and feelings. Virgo enjoys solving knotty problems and directing us to the best place to find help. After living with the fluidity of Cancer and the drama of Leo, Mercury is more than happy to return to practical, well grounded Virgo.
The echoes of family drama and angst may reverberate most of the week for you, Aries, and it would be in your best interest to detach yourself from those if possible. All too soon your focus will shift to managing your daily routines most effectively.
The temptation to let others know how you think they should be running their lives might be overwhelming now, Taurus, and as I mentioned above, a very bad idea. Tend to household matters during the week so you can enjoy yourself on the weekend.
Wouldn’t hurt to plan on unexpected expenses this week, Gemini, nor would be hurt to reevaluate how much you’re spending on entertaining. Conversations with family members may take priority soon. Make sure to stay on topic this weekend or things could get really fuzzy.
Personal plans and objectives may run afoul of last minute changes at work, Cancer, and this will probably not set well with you. However I would suggest waiting until next week to have a serious discussion about these issues when it should be easier to gather your thoughts.
Your personal party is about to come to a close for the year, Leo. I know you’ll miss being center stage but you really do need to take time to review your financial situation. Opportunities to do so could start nagging at you this weekend.
It is your turn to shine, Virgo, and I know you will though in your own unique way. One thing to keep in mind on what can be a very enjoyable weekend is the need to not take what others tell you at face value.
What with one thing or another, Libra, you are probably sick and tired of being caught in the middle. This could come to a crescendo midweek though you still need to stay on guard. Be careful of manipulative types this weekend.
After this week work demands may taper off some whilst your need to network with your peers increases in importance, Scorpio. Don’t get sucked into debates over politics and religion this week. That would be a huge waste of your precious time.
Play time is about over for you, Sagittarius, and it is time to refocus your attention on your next career move. The urge to do something fun but reckless could strike you hard this week. Think twice before you jump, OK?
One would think after all the volatility in your home life you would be prepared for more, Capricorn. This time it may involve your partner who could blow matters all out of proportion. At least your working life is looking a little more pleasant.
This week might bring you another opportunity to see your path ahead clearly, Aquarius, so make the most of it. If you have been wrangling with coworkers or your employees lately, that may come to a head now. Be careful what you say to them.
Your latest creative impulse is amazing, Pisces, but it could set you back financially. Be sure to run the numbers before you commit. If you’re single, you may meet someone quite special whom you could feel a very strong connection.
If you know your Rising sign, read the horoscope for it too.
On Friday, August 16, Venus gracefully enters her home sign of Libra bringing a much needed breath of air. This is where she is most comfortable, surrounding herself with beauty and charming all who enter her sphere of influence. The challenge for Venus this year is she has to deal with unpleasant interactions with the outer planets beginning with an inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces on Monday, August 19.
In some ways, the inconjunct to Neptune works as both Libra and Pisces have a romantic streak and prefer the dream to the reality. However watery Neptune in Pisces is way too self-sacrificing for rational Venus in Libra. Whilst this Venus can acknowledge the concept of giving all for Love, if this also involves dirt and discomfort, forget it! Libra can be a slave to creature comforts like hot and cold running water and indoor plumbing. She is capable of roughing to please her chosen partner but not for any length of time.
The next obstacle Venus encounters is a square to Pluto in Capricorn on August 24. Here she may run into someone obsessing over her as well as having an overwhelming need to control her every movement and choice. Venus in Libra may go along with this for awhile in order to keep the peace but push her too far and you’ll know it. Think hurricanes and tornadoes. This is especially true at this time because Venus is taking her turn completing a T-Square with Uranus in Aries (opposing Venus in Libra on August 26) and Pluto. Money issues may play a role this time around causing relationships to founder.
A square to Jupiter in Cancer on August 27 is the last challenging aspect to Venus. Venus-Jupiter squares are a real mixed bag. Some astrologers see any link up between these two planets as favorable but I’m not so sure about that. Too much of a good thing can be problematical too. When these two planets hook up it is very easy to go overboard and indulge far past the point of satiation. Hangovers, anyone?
August 27 is also when Mars leaves Cancer for exuberant Leo, something Venus in Libra will welcome with open arms. Air has a way of breathing life into fire. Libra loves bright, cheerful Leo and happily plays audience to Leo’s delight. Love and romance takes on a lighter note and people will be in the mood to play for awhile.
During the last two weeks of Venus’s stay in Libra, she will only have to deal with the Moon’s changing moods. This pleasant interlude will come to an end on September 10 when Venus shifts into brooding Scorpio and the water level rises once more.
